✧Hua Cheng- Hated✧
A/N- This is an x male reader! Sorry about the set gender, it just fit better with the story line.
YOU WERE NOT powerful by any means. You were a ghost ruler, but that just meant that you were a very strong ghost. The people you had killed had all threatened your personal safety, which was why you had killed them. You didn't even intend to end their lives, you just hadn't even known your own strength.
Your title among the Ghost Kings was Supreme Lord of Storms. Everywhere you went, a storm would accompany you. For that reason, they called you Bul-Onhan, which meant thunderous in Korean. Your real name was Y/N, but nobody called you that. To the ghosts, you were Bul-Onhan, the Supreme Lord of Storms. Due to your name and title, you were seen as scary and strong, and avoided. However, you were really very shy and kind inside, and you were sad that you had no friends.
One evening, the ghosts had a party, and you went to dance by yourself. It was at that party that you met Hua Cheng, the Crimson Sought After Flower, and fell in love with him.
Under the pulsing lantern light, you danced without abandon, on your own. Your long h/c hair whirled around and obscured your vision, but you simply pushed it away and your beautiful e/c eyes could see once again. You spun around until you got dizzy, took a break, then spun around some more. Your entire body seemed to pulse with the lights, and you were having the time of your life.
Then, everything got quiet. You stopped spinning to see what all the fuss was about, and saw the most handsome young ghost you had ever seen climbing up the stairs into the ballroom. He was wearing a long red hanfu, the color of good fortune, and his long, thick black hair hung down to his waist, moving as his hips moved. He laid his red parasol down by the stairs, and made direct eye contact with you.
When his dark eyes met yours, you felt butterflies fluttering in your stomach. You bowed to him politely and said, "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, sir." You were propriety personified, as usual.
He gave you a kind and dazzling smile and held his hand out to you.
"Shall we dance, Bul-Onhan?" he asked you. You loved the way he said your name. It seemed to roll around in his mouth before coming out, and his pronunciation was perfect. Even the slightest inflection in tone was covered. You were enthralled by this mysterious ghost king, and you shyly took his hands and let him lead you in a dance.
As he spun you around, you began to feel dizzy and uneasy. All the other Ghost Kings weren't dancing, but just watching you two dance together. You were afraid that they would attack you, as some of them looked downright hostile, so you pushed the handsome young man away from you and ran out of the building. You peeked in after you left and saw that everyone was dancing now, except the young man, who was looking around to find you. You noticed that he seemed sad now that you had left him. His eyes were downcast and his head was hanging down.
His eyes rose and looked at the doorframe where you were standing. Quickly, you rushed away from it and hid behind the wall, crouching down in a bush and pulling your knees up to your face, wrapping yourself up neatly into a ball. Your fancy hanfu skirt was getting scratched up by the thorny bush branches, and when you moved, they would get caught on your skin and cut you. You were uncomfortable hiding there, but you didn't want the man to see you.
To your surprise, he ended up finding you anyway. He came outside and looked straight at where you were curled up in hiding. With a sigh, he said, "You're not very hidden, Supreme Lord of Storms. I can see you perfectly from where I'm standing."
You sighed as well, and stood up and got out of hiding. The young man looked disappointed, but his eyes didn't share the emotion. His eyes looked almost... wistful? You couldn't recognize the emotion in them, but they looked beautiful. Everything about him was perfect. You felt a worm of doubt and jealousy crawl into your heart. Why would he be attracted to you and want to dance with you? You weren't even that attractive.
"Come with me, Bul-Onhan. I won't hurt you," he said. His tone was gentle, and his voice was soft. It pulled you, seduced you, begged you to come closer to him. But you wouldn't listen.
With a supreme amount of willpower, you shook your head and refused, saying, "I won't get myself hurt by associating with you."
His lips turned down in a frown and he said, "But you don't even know who I am. How can you get in trouble if you dance with me once and forget me later?"
On impulse, you responded with, "I don't want to forget you. You're too beautiful."
You cursed yourself the instant you said that, and buried your head in your hands in shame. Now a great Ghost King knew your fault- you were attracted to the same gender that you were. You were gay.
"You find me attractive?" the man said, a laugh almost heard in his voice. "Well then, let me tell you who I am. I am Hua Cheng, the Crimson Sought After Flower, and I'm one of the greatest Ghost Kings in the ghost kingdom. I have killed countless people, and feel no shame or remorse for my actions. Humans will call me a monster, however, I simply follow my instincts and carry out my purpose."
You had heard nothing he had said after his name and title. Hua Cheng? This man was the most hated Ghost King ever! He was known to be very aggressive and he loved to start fights with the other ghost kings. Because of that, all the Ghost Kings disliked him and tried to avoid him. Your gut feeling told you that it was because you were scared of him, but your manipulated brain told you that ghosts couldn't be scared, that they had no life to lose in the first place, and fear was a reflex that living things had when they were in danger of losing their life. The fact that Hua Cheng, a powerful mass murderer, was standing in front of you terrified you. And due to the terror that made your entire body cold, you knew that ghosts could and did feel fear.
"I-I don't know what to say," you said. "I-I'm sorry."
You turned to go, but Hua Cheng threw his arms around you and held you tightly, making you unable to move. Terror flew up your spine, and your reflexes took over. You moved your elbow up quickly, elbowing the Ghost King in the nose. He cursed and yelled due to the pain and the shock, and let you go to touch his nose. When he let you go, you ran as fast as you could and didn't stop running until your chest felt like it was about to combust. Then you laid down on the ground and tried to compose yourself.
In an instant, Hua Cheng was by your side again. You jumped up and readied your defense, prepared to kill if necessary, but then something happened that both surprised and confused you.
Hua Cheng began to laugh. And not softly either. He laughed great big rollicking chuckles that shook his entire body. He laughed so much, he began to cry. And when he began to cry, his entire mood changed. He began to sob and he fell down to the ground, covering his face with his hands, and covering his hands with his freely flowing long black hair.
Concern weighed out over fear, and you knelt down by his side and pushed his hair away, then his hands, revealing his face which was streaked with tears. His sad eyes looked directly at you, and he sighed a tearful sigh. This man seemed to sigh a lot.
"You're just like the others," he said, and the despair was clear in his tone. "You hate me for no reason. Why do you hate me? I'm not such a terrible monster, right? I'm just like the others, right?"
You felt wrong seeing this side of Hua Cheng. This was a sensitive side that nobody else got to see, and now he was displaying it for you. You had a faint thought that this might be a sign of love, but your faint thought was immediately dispersed by the feeling of Hua Cheng grabbing you by the shoulders and slamming your body into the ground.
He was on top of you in an instant and his strength was stifling. You waved your arms and kicked your legs, cried out as loudly as you could, but you couldn't fight him. He pinned you to the ground and put his knee to your chest, which was aching with pain. You started to cry and beg him to get off of you, to stop hurting you, but he wouldn't stop. You ended up calming down and getting used to him pinning you down, but you still hated him for it.
"I don't hate you," you finally said. "I'm terrified of you."
He laughed, but you could hear the tears behind it.
"Terrified? Why would you be afraid of me?"
You looked up the length of his arms, which were holding tightly onto your shoulders and not letting you move your arms at all. He seemed to get what you were meaning, and got up off of your body, releasing the great amount of pressure he was putting on you. You could finally breathe freely again.
"You've killed so many, with no remorse. You say you're like the others, but you know you're not like them. Many of them feel at least a little guilt for their actions. They don't go on killing sprees and end the lives of weak, innocent people like you. And you know they hate you because of how relentless you are. You're not at all like the other ghost kings, Hua Cheng, Crimson Sought After Flower. You're unique. And that makes you both beautiful... and terrifying."
"How can you find me beautiful and terrifying at the same time?" Hua Cheng questioned you.
"I love the way you look, but your personality leaves much to be desired. However..."
"However?" he prodded.
"When you were crying, I sensed a deeper side to you, a side that actually cares. And that side, I love. I want to nurture that side of you. Somehow, I want to see it brought to the foreground in your mind, and have the cruel side of you neutralized forever," you finished.
To your surprise, Hua Cheng put his lips to yours in a kiss. This kiss was unlike any kiss you'd ever had before. This kiss was deep and needy. You could sense the very soul and emotion of him behind it. When he pulled away, you were starving for more. You wanted to throw your arms around him and love him without any boundaries, abandon everything for him. This was the love you had always dreamed to feel.
"Open me up then," he said. "Reveal that side of me."
"I'd be glad to, my love," you responded, pressing your lips to his and reciprocating his love. "I'd be so glad to."
