The Beginning Pt 3.

3rd Person:

Adopted by the prime minister. Who would have suspected that? Manami didn't.

And she wishes she did...Her new 'father' was an asshole. He noticed her talent for killing and immediately started training her to become an assassin. What father would do that to their daughter?

This one.

Also, whenever she would do something incorrectly, this happened.

Smack!

"I taught you this! I can't believe you're so weak that you can't even land a roundhouse kick! Pathetic. Training is over for today. Same time tomorrow." He told her, watching Manami fall over at the impact.

He left the room, turning off the lights despite Manami still being in there. Her petite form shook in agony, she gritted her teeth to reduce the pain she felt.

Finally gathering her strength, Manami pushed herself up from the floor, her cold purple eyes glowing in the dark of the room.

She hated him.

The 10-year-old walked out of the room and flinched when the artificial light made contact with her eyes. She waited for her sight to re-adjust before stepping towards her glasses that rested on a table in the living room.

Though she wasn't able to take more than 5 steps before collapsing.

"Manami-Chan?! Are you okay? Did he do something to you again?" Her mother.

Her mother was just the sweetest. She was forced into marriage with this awful man, and it saddened Manami to know such a kind soul was going through this much torture.

But no one could take this much pain for years without their sanity slowly fading. Right?

"Mum...? What are you doing?" Manami peeked her small head into the kitchen, slightly on guard upon seeing how her mother was holding the knife.

"...You know, Manami-Chan? I've always hated your father. He would bring me constant pain and it's only gotten worse since we've adopted you..."

Manami instinctively stepped back in fear when her mother turned around with wide eyes.

"It's your fault."

Despite her efforts to avoid it, Manami screamed as she felt was the sharp sting of the knife gliding across her skin.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Manami woke up to a white ceiling and the feeling of pain in her upper arm.
Looking down, she noticed that there were weird coloured wires attached to her limbs. And the pain, oh God- the pain.
It just seemed to get worse the more conscious she felt, and Manami suddenly had the desire to drift back into a deep slumber.
Despite the constant beatings from her 'father', she wasn't used to the stinging sensation of a cut, since she hasn't had many of those. Yet.
Manami heard the door open and a pair of footsteps nearing her bed, snapping her out of her brooding.
Looking up, her pupils immediately contracted as she instinctively scowled at the man standing next to her bed.
"What do you want?" She rasped out. Her throat was incredibly dry.
Thankfully, he didn't reply. She didn't feel like hearing his voice.
'I need water...' Manami thought. 'But I don't want him to get it for me. Dammit where's the nurse?'
Right on cue, a young woman that looked to be in her twenties stepped in, holding a clipboard to her chest and a cup of water. She walked towards the immobile Manami laying on the bed and placed the clipboard down on the small table.
"Good morning, Manami Taru-San. I'm Emiko Kanzaki. Please call me Emiko-San. I'll be asking you some questions. Is that okay with you?" Emiko asked softly while handing Manami the glass.
She nodded and gulped down the water, silently seething at hearing her new surname.
"Do you remember exactly what happened before and what caused it?" She waited for Manami's answer patiently.
Manami tensed slightly at the question, visions of what had happened not even twenty-four hours ago flashed through her head.
Before she could even open her mouth, he stepped in.
"Her mother went insane and stabbed her in the arm." Ekiji Taru told her.
'Yeah. She went crazy because of you.' Manami thought with malice.
"Oh. The mother's name is...Ryoko Taru. Am I right? Well, she is being confined in a mental institution on Taru-San's request." Emiko informed Manami.
Manami's head immediately snapped to look at Ekiji, pure betrayal written in her features.
"You asked for what?!" She croaked in disbelief. She was ignored.
"Okay, next question. On a scale of 1 to 10, how painful is your wound?"
'Really?' Manami thought, deadpanning. 'Isn't that a question for 4-year-olds?'
"...8.5" She replied after a brief moment of silence. Emiko nodded and jotted something down on the clipboard that she had picked up at one point.
She then stood up and headed to the glass cabinet in the corner of the room, pulled out something that looked like pills and came back.
"You're 10-years-old, correct?" Manami nodded. "Alright then. Taru-San, can you get another glass of water for your daughter?"
Ekiji stood up, grabbed the empty cup and left the room without a word. Manami had to hold herself back from sighing in relief.
"You'll be discharged from the hospital in 4 days. But please make sure to take one of these painkillers every day, alright sweetie?" The nurse said, holding up the pills for Manami to see.
She simply nodded, again.
Manami's father walked in again, but this time the cup in his hand was filled with water. She took the drink from his hands, not bothering to say 'thank you'.
She took the medicine and immediately felt drained. Emiko noticed her drowsiness and told her to lie down.
The last thing Manami saw was the large frame of her father leaving the room before drifting into unconciousness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Purple eyes, clouded by the thick frames of the glasses, glowered at the figure in front of her.

"Will you stop looking at me like that? It's for the best. I can't have you ruining my reputation." Ekiji told his daughter.

'Like you even had much of a reputation to begin with.' Manami scoffed.

"I'm not mad at the fact that you're sending me off to some huge mansion for me to live in by myself. Or that you're making me change my last name back to Okuda. No, those are actually the only good things. I'm more pissed at the fact that mum is in a mental hospital because of you." Manami huffed out, not breaking her glare.

Ekiji's strict face shifted into a frown. He turned around and walked away.

"You still have your daily training from 6 am to 8 pm. Don't be late."

The small girl frowned at his words.

'Right when I thought I could finally get away from him.' She sighed. 'I hate you, father.'

Flashback Ends

Manami's POV:

I stared at the small form of my best friend. I couldn't tell if she was shaking because she was depressed or angry.

She had just finished explaining to me what happened earlier. And why she came into the house holding a syringe with this weird liquid I've never seen before.

So many terrible things have already happened in my life, I didn't want to add to the list but it seems like I have no choice.

"...You want me to somehow get transferred into the E class?" I asked her. This was all too confusing.

There was way too much information to process.

Just an hour ago, I opened the door to see my best friend drenched from head to toe, holding a syringe, with tear marks on her cheeks. Then she just sat on the sofa, still dripping with rain water, and started talking.

She wouldn't stop talking, she just went on and on about what had occurred. Not even stopping to answer my questions.

"Yeah. The note said that the monster was going to teach at class 3-E. I'll come to your school as a transfer student, don't worry." She assured me with a smile- a fake smile.

I rolled my eyes and asked her a question that's been on my mind for a while.

"Okay then...The only thing I wanna know is why you knocked on the door when you have keys. Did you lose them?"

Immediately after the question left my mouth, the (fake) smile was wiped completely off her face.

She scowled at me before rolling her eyes, repeating my actions from earlier.

"I just tell you a heartbreaking story of a monster killing my dear sister that I love so much, and that's the question you ask me?" She growled.

I smirked at her reaction. It was always funny how easily I could change her mood.

"As much as I miss Aguri-Nee-Chan...can you take your shoes off? I just mopped the floor!" I scoffed at her. If she's gonna live with me then she has to keep the place clean.

She narrowed her eyes at me but got up anyway. With the syringe. I was worried for her health, so I called her out on it.

"Akari-Chan...are you sure about this?"

Akari turned around and flashed a grin. But it wasn't like her normal ones, it seemed...evil.

"If you can beat up people twice your size with a broken arm, then I'm pretty sure I can handle a little pain...for Aguri."

With that, she bounded up the stairs. Akari Yukimura has been my best friend for 4 years, and she and her sister moved in with me 2 years ago.

Now it's only me and her. And, who am I, you ask?

I'm a broken 14-year-old girl. One that has witnessed her parents get brutally murdered in front of her. One that has felt the blood of another at the age of five. One that has been abused for years. One that kills for a living. A secret assassin.

I am Manami Okuda.

A/N This is where the story gets good. Just to fill you in, Kaede's parents died (I know they actually didn't) so she and Aguri moved into Manami's house. Manami has complained multiple times on how lonely she was in a 6-floor mansion by herself. It has 50 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 25 bathrooms, a library, a basement, 2 labs, an attic, an indoor waterpark, an outdoor pool, a spa and a maze in the garden. And no, there aren't any servants or anything.

I also have no idea whatsoever on what goes on inside a hospital- I've never had to go there for an injury- so apologies if it's a bit off-track.

And sorry for taking 3 months to upload the new chapter. I kinda fell out of AssClass for a while. *Glares menacingly at my Lizkook/BangtanBlack reading list*

P.S. I may or may have not stolen some of Todoroki Shouto's backstory for this chapter :)
