Frantic Romantic

"Are you ready, everybody?" I yell into the microphone, barely loud enough to be heard over the thousands of screaming fans in the stadium.

I smile, feeling a bead of sweat fall down my forehead, as I try to look bast the bright lights. I move into my starting pose, as the beat begins to play.

I smirk, hearing the roar of the guitar behind me, "Let's go!"

"Lola," I snap my head to my manager who is looking at me expectantly.

I frown, realizing that I hadn't been listening to her, "I'm sorry, what were you saying?"

It had been only five days since Reba had come to me with the proposal that would change my life but so much had changed since then. Opal Star became an overnight sensation with over one million records sold in the next two days.

Everything was moving way too fast. The day after my single hit the stands, I was whisked into press conference after press conference demanding to know everything there was about the bubblegum pink haired popstar.

Reba had been helpful enough to answer most questions pertaining to my life, such as where I was from. Nost questions were left unanswered however to keep my mysterious persona.

Opal was immediately taken by fans to be the easy-going, wild singer with a heart of gold and I was determined to live up to their expectations.

Honestly, though all the chaos is exciting, I still can't wait to return home with my friends. Don't get me wrong, this is a dream I never knew I had come true, but I still missed everyone.

"Lola!"

I snap my head to my manager for the second time with a small wince.

Reba sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose, "Let's go. Opal is expected at this VIP party, and you are sitting in the limo like a mannequin."

I look out the window and notice that we were already at the VIP party. I blush, "Sorry."

Reba sighs, opening the door, "Come on, sunglasses on."

I nod my head, fixing my shades on my face as I walk onto the red carpet with a smile, waving at the fans as I walk to the entrance.

Today was the day that I returned home, and the first thing I had to do after getting settled at home was getting ready for this party, which I said I would visit.

I try to remain cool as I walk into the coolest party I have ever been to. Nick, Joe, and Kevin had brought Stella and I to a few parties before but none like this.

I wave as I greet a few stars that I had previously met or would like to meet in the future.

I was about to walk over to Hannah Montana, one of the nicest celebrities I have met so far. We had met at my first popup concert to strengthen my platform and she was the sweetest.

I waved at her as I began to walk over to the table she was standing at when I was quickly yanked away. I turn to see Reba pulling me over to the opposite side of the room.

I furrowed my eyebrows at her, "What are you doing? I was gonna say hello to Hannah?"

Reba shakes her head, "You need to meet someone else."

I furrow my eyebrows, "Who?" It felt like I had met everyone there was to know already.

We came to a stop as I looked directly into the eyes of my best friend. I open my mouth in shock. I turn to look at Reba but she was already gone.

I smiled, holding out my hand, "Nice to meet you, I'm Opal Star," I say aloud using my fake British accent.

I was shocked by Nick's attitude. Usually, he was so nice and welcoming, but all he did was look at my hand before giving me a head nod, "Cool. I'm Nick."

I let my hand drop to my side, "Cool?"

Nick nods his head, looking down at his phone before looking back up at me with a frown on his face, "Nice meeting you."

I scoff as I watch him turn to leave. Nick slowly turns on his heels as he looks at me with a head tilt, "I'm sorry. Did I upset you?"

My eyes widen, "You are a jerk."

Nick scoffs, running his fingers through his hair, "I'm a jerk?"

I laugh, trying to think of a good comeback before awkwardly saying, "Yeah," I glare at his smirk at my terrible snapback, "I mean I was being completely nice, introducing myself and you can't even give me five seconds."

"Maybe you aren't as charming as you think you are," Nick leaned into me with a smirk, "And honestly I am not into the whole one-hit-wonder type."

I can practically feel the steam coming out my ears, "One-hit-wonder?"

I jab my finger into Nick's chest, "Why do you think you are?"

Nick moved my hand away carelessly, "I'm just saying that I am used to people like you. Just in it to soak up the fame and glory-"

I stop him before he continues to make false accusations, "I'll have you know that I could care less about the 'fame'," I smirk, crossing my arms, "In fact, all of my earnings go to British Marie Curie Foundation."

Nick seemed taken aback, not expecting me to say that, but quickly collects himself as he smirks, "Cute hair by the way," I glare as he twirls a piece of my pink hair with his finger.

Unlike my real hair, my wig was flat ironed making it longer than my normal hair would appear.

I move my head away from Nick as he adds, "Reminds me of those little troll dolls."

"At least my hair doesn't look like a poodle," I snap, although I didn't mean it. I loved Nick's hair, it was always soft and silky.

No! Lola, he is being a jerk right now...But he is nice to me when I am me...No! It shouldn't matter.

Nick glared at me stepping closer, so we were barely centimeters apart, "Jealous, pinkie?"

"You wish, mutt," I growl, not moving away from him. That is what he wants.

I freeze feeling two arms wrap around Nick and I smooshing us close together. I look up to see Mr. Lucas smiling down at us, "I am so glad you two met."

I move out of the group hug awkwardly, making sure that my makeup was still okay and that my sunglasses were still on. If Nick saw me without them, he would be able to tell, that it was me, and right now, I wasn't sure if I wanted that.

"Aren't they adorable," I turn to see Reba smiling at Mr. Lucas as she watched the two of us.

I look at Nick and notice he is glaring at me. I sent him a glower before turning back to our managers.

Reba and Mr. Lucas looked at each other before Reba spoke, "It is a good thing that you two are here because we need to tell you something."

I look at her hesitantly, I know I said I wanted to tell the guys but I changed my mind. I just wanted to tell Stella.

"We think that it would be good if Opal had more American awareness since that would be her future target audience," Reba began causing me to look at her confused, not understanding what she was getting at.

Nick appeared to understand as he glared at his father, "And Nick could use a bit more photos revealing his-err-kinder side," Mr. Lucas said.

My eyes widened as everything clicked into place just as Reba finished, "So we have agreed that you two should pose as a couple for the press."

I felt like I could vomit as I turned to look at Nick. Any other situation and this would have been the dream: being able to date my best friend and crush without ruining our friendship. But Nick was being a jerk tonight and I don't think I would be able to pretend to date him for the press let alone pretend liking him.

"No," was all I heard Nick say before I scoff walking away.

I winced as Stella squealed for the fifth time this morning, looking at my new hair, "I can't believe you got rid of the red streaks. I mean they looked cute but your new lowlights look even better. And you met Monique Crusoe and managed to get me an autograph. You are the best."

I smile looking at my hair in my locker mirror, "What are sisters for?"

I had managed to fill Stella in on everything that happened during my trip including the popstar sensation part, "I am sorry but, Lola, this is crazy. You are famous. Not that the guys aren't and that is awesome but most people come back from London with a dumb souvenir, not a record deal and alter ego."

I shut my locker as I looked at my sister, "I know it is wild, I am so glad you know." We begin walking to the atrium as I say, "So what has been going on with you?"

Stella shrugged, "Nothing much...Van Dyke and I are officially over. I was in the school play. That is mainly it," Stella turned to me, "Oh and Nick constantly asking to see how you were doing in London," she winked at me.

I blush thinking about the handsome boy before my smile fades as I remember last night. He was so rude.

"Lola!" I turn and see Macey hurl towards Stella and me with a bright smile before pulling me into a hug, "I missed you. How was London? What is the accent really like? Did you see that new singer, Opal Star? She is really good."

I freeze, debating whether I should tell them about my secret identity. I want to tell her but I also know how bad Macey is at keeping secrets. Thankfully I never had to decide because my sister asked, "Who is Opal Star?"

Macey scoffed, "Have you been living under a rock? She is the British singer who has reached top charts in two days with her top single Here I Am."

Stella nods her head, sending me a wink, "Interesting."

"Ohh," Macey shrieks, already on a new topic, "There is Kevin."

I turn to see the guys hanging out near the atrium, as Macey runs up to them, "Everyone on the Jonas fan site wants to know about what is going on between you and Fiona Sky," she looked at Joe.

Joe groans hiding his head in his locker, "Ugh, It's all gossip. None of it is true."

The guys still hadn't seen Stella and I as we walked up to them. I watch Nick casually lean on the wall, looking so cool and suave, "Dude, no one is going to take it seriously."

Stella quickly walked pass Joe, holding up her hand, "Don't talk to me."

Joe looked at Stella with a frown, "Stella, it isn't true."

Stella rolled her eyes, 'Oh, I know you. You're famous! Oh my gish, you're Fiona Sky's boyfriend."

Joe scoffs, "Okay, hold up. We were at the same club," Joe stood in front of Stella, "We were at the same club, they took a picture of us."

Stella crossed her arms, "Giving her a necklace."

"A necklace she dropped and I picked up," Joe corrected.

"Oh," Stella said, trying to act like she wasn't completely jealous a second ago. Stella lied when she said that I didn't miss much because I know something went down between them.

Joe smirks, "Wait a minute. Are you jealous?"

Stella scoffs, "Jealous? Me? No. What would I have to be jealous of? Maybe your jealous."

Joe looked around confused, "Of what."

Stella looked around as if she knew the answer before saying, "Exactly."

Joe sighed, "Now I am confused."

"Me too," I finally speak. Everyone other than Stella and Macey looks at me shocked to see me standing there.

I smile waving with a small shrug, "I'm back."

Nick was the first one to react as he quickly ran over to me, pulling me into a hug, causing my feet to life off the ground, as he stood up to his full height. I giggled into his shoulder, momentarily forgetting that I was upset with him, as I hugged him back.

He set me down, still looking at me with a smile, "I missed you. Why didn't you call me when you got back?"

I looked at him blankly before replying, "I was so jetlagged that I fell asleep right away."

Nick looked at me suspiciously but didn't comment. My smile melts into a glare as I slap him in the shoulder, "You never texted me."

Nick holds his arm in pain, "Ow. I didn't want to ruin your trip," he answered calmly, nothing like he was last night. Maybe he was in a bad mood.

"I was waiting for you to call me," I frown at him.

Nick looked up at me with a twinkle in his eyes, "You were?"

I bite my lip trying to conceal my smile, "Yeah."

Kevin's head breaks my view of staring at his cute brother, "If y'all are done acting like a couple, can we get back to the conversation."

I blush as Nick wraps his arm around my waist and pushes his brother away, "We are not a couple."

I nod my head before realizing our position. We both move away from each other and look back at the scene in front of us.

Joe sighs turning back to Stella, "Look, I don't know what you head, but I am not seeing Fiona Star and hope to never hear of her again."

"Joe," an annoyingly shrill voice calls out, "it's Fiona."

I look up to see a blonde girl draped across the staircase, "Charming," I wince as Nick chuckles.

Joe doesn't move an inch as Fiona drapes herself on top of him, "what are you doing at my school? Why is there a photographer and why is he taking a picture of us?"

Fiona moves away from Joe, looking at him with fake innocence, "I came to visit you, honey, and what good os a hug without a photographer," Fiona laughs, hugging Joe once again, "Take it," she growls at the cameraman.

Stella scoffs, obviously not happy that Fiona was all over Joe, "Ok, excuse me but just who do you think that you are?"

Fiona looks at Stella before whipping out a magazine and handing it to her.

"The scariest thing in this film is Fiona Sky's acting," Stella reads.

I laugh into Macey's shoulder as Fiona scolds her photographer, and hands Stella a new magazine, which she reads, "Fiona Sky, the girl with Joe that everyone wants to know."

Joe shakes his head, "Look I am sure you are a very nice girl and all but I don't want to know you-"

Fiona holds her finger up as she answers her phone, "Hello this is Fiona. Ughh, when will you guys stop hounding me? Yes, I am with Joe right now. That is between me and Joe. We want to keep this whole crazy and delicious thing private. Don't forget that I have a new horror movie coming out next month."

I look at Nick in disbelief, she is the worst person I have ever met.

I roll my eyes, "I can't believe you are using Joe to boost your career," I look at Fiona, "That is disgusting."

Fiona looks at me in disgust, "I must admit that it where this whole thing started, but now that I see Joe her without the distracting flash of the cameras," she stops speaking to take a photo before turning back to me, "I could really see myself falling for him."

Joe speaks up, "No offense but I am not interested."

Fiona tilted her head, "Are you sure."

"Positive," Stella confirmed.

Fiona looked around Joe to stare at Stella like she were a piece of gum on her shoe, "Who is this person, Joey? Is this your girlfriend?"

They both say 'no' causing Fiona to smile, "Great, I would hate to have competition," she breathed out before turning to me, "Be a doll and get me a decaf cappuccino and maybe a...a low fat for yourself."

I feel the anger rising in me as she waves her hands as if signaling for me to go. I shock myself, by grabbing Nick, who was ready to walk up to her and tell her off I am sure.

I laugh lightly, as I pull Nick away from the skinny blonde nightmare, "Let's walk to class," I look at Nick cautiously as we walk down the hallway.

🌑🌼🌑🌼🌑🌼🌑🌼🌑🌼🌑🌼🌑

While the Macey, Kevin, and Stella were working to get rid of Stella, Nick and I were going on our first fake date. Well...Nick and Opal.

I had thought that Nick was just in a bad mood but I was sorely proven wrong when we met today at the new up and coming juice bar. The first words to come out his mouth were, "Cute outfit," making fun of my simple sweatpants and black crop top.

I scoff, before glaring at him, "For your information, my publicist made me wear this to make us look more laid back. Because everyone thinks that you are too uptight."

Nick scoffs, immediately sitting down at the small table next to me, "You are the most annoying person I have ever met."

I roll my eyes, trying to ignore the pang in my chest, "You are impossible."

"I swear I wouldn't date you if you were the last girl left on the planet."

I stand up from the table leaning over, "I wouldn't date you if my life depended on it."

Nick stands up to look at me, "Like I would ever want to be with some wannabe popstar anyway."

"The only wannabe I see is you," I jab my finger into his chest.

"God, I can't believe my dad is forcing me to do this," Nick says leaning away from me, but not moving from his stance.

"I can't believe my manager is making me hang out with a git like you," I snap back at him, making sure that my Britsh accent becomes more pronounced as my tone rises.

"Please," Nick scoffed, "You need this."

My eyes widen as I slightly push Nick's chest, although he doesn't move, "I'm not the one who is losing fans because of their image," I step closer to him.

"The only thing that is ruining my image is you," Nick growls, taking the last inch of space between us, leaving nothing but a sliver between our lips.

His soft pink lips were practically begging for me to touch them but I knew better. Nick was being a meanie, and I was not about to let my crush get in the way. If this is how he acted around others than he wasn't the guy I liked anyway.

"You are terrible," I wrinkle my nose at him, ignoring my heart that is beating out of my chest.

My heart skips a beat when Nick catches my attention by wrapping an arm around my waist pressing me to him and leaning down "You are hot when you get angry you know," he whispers in my ear. His hot breath causing shivers down my spine.

I scoff, moving my head away from his, although Nick didn't move his arms from around my waist.

"You are a pig," I feign a moan in disgust, although I wished he would lean closer. Nick chuckled before pulling my glasses off my face, as I try to stop him.

"Give it up, Lola," Nick says, as I move to cover my face.

"You wi-," I start before I look up at him in shock, but Nick just smirks at me, "Gotcha."

My jaw drops in shock but before I can even say anything, his lips are on mine.
