Vina's POV
I stroll into the class on Monday morning to see Kiki resting her head on the desk. The class isn't full, just about a handful of students are present.

I slide into my seat and wrap my arms around Kiki's torso,"Good morning, seatie." I greet in a singsong voice.

To my surprise, she lifts her head and offers me a small smile,"Morning, Vina."

"How are you doing today?"

"I'm good." Kiki replies while sitting straight up,“What of you?"

"Same same." I tell her while transferring my books to my locker.

Just then, a junior walks into the class. Her black braids with orange tips are packed neatly into a ponytail.

"Good morning, Senior." She greets with a small smile.

"Morning, dear." I respond, giving her a warm smile.

"Kiki, please I need my pink purse."

Kiki opens her bag to get the purse out then she hands it to her.

"Vina, this is my sister, Mimi. Mimi, this is Vina, my friend."

Mimi's smile grows wide,"Nice to meet you, Senior Vina."

"You can call me Vina."

"Okay." She nods still smiling,"See you later, Sis."

"Your sister is really pretty." I drawl out after Mimi leaves.

"I know right." Kiki chuckles.

We talk some more till the bell for assembly goes off and we leave the class.

At the assembly hall, the assembly is conducted as usual but it is announced that we will be having sports practice on Wednesdays and Fridays starting from this very week. All this is in preparation for the interhouse sports competition.

As we are leaving the hall, there is some sort of commotion outside. I grab Kiki's hand and drag us through the crowd. When we get to the front, my mouth drops in awe because before us is a white Bentley.

Just like in movies, the back door opens and out steps a drop-dead gorgeous melanin queen.

Screams and shrieks of admiration ring out at every corner. Suddenly, I am pushed forward and I see Nadia run out from behind me and towards the girl.

"That's my elder sister, Vivi." She states rather coldly.

I nod and turn just in time to see Nadia throw herself at Vivi. They are quite a distance from us but Nadia screams,"Babe!" so loud that I hear it perfectly.

Truth be told, I've never seen Nadia this happy. Vivi, on the other hand, gently pats Nadia's back before she lets go.

Vivi scans the student body seemingly looking for someone. Her eyes rake through us and stop at me in a death glare.

Excuse me, but why is someone I am setting my eyes on for the first time, staring at me like I stole her boyfriend or something?

Her eyes dance from me to Kiki and immediately she looks at her sister, Kiki takes my hand and pulls me towards our block.

"Kiki." A voice that sounds a lot like hers, says from behind us.

"What is it?" She asks not turning to look at her sister.

"You are going home with me. Mother took your car out for something."

"Sure, whatever." She answers as she continues to pull me along. I turn to see Vivi's full lips draw into a thin line.

We finally get to class and Kiki drops onto her seat with a huff.

"What's up with you and Vivi? There seems to be a lot of tension between you two."

"Can we not talk about this now?" She asks stiffly as she pinches the bridge of her nose.

"But–"

"But nothing, Vina. Not now. Please."

"Fine." I say giving up and bringing out my books to go over my notes before the teacher comes in.

The periods go by rather quickly and soon, it is lunch time.

Kiki and I leave the class to go get our lunch. We meet Tony on the way so, he joins us and we three take our lunch and settle at our usual table.

I sit down with Tony and Kiki sita opposite us. Soon, Nasir comes to join us but seeing that Tony is already seated by me, he stays beside Kiki.

"Tony, awfa?"

"Guy, I dey o." Tony says as him and Nasir do a bro handshake.

Once I see Nasir, what Kiki said about him comes rushing into my head.

"Vina, how you doing?" He asks, giving me the warmest of smiles.

"As wonderful as ever." I reply, returning the smile.

"Kiki." He says to her.

"Nasir." Kiki says to him.

And that is the end of thier greeting.

Just then, there is the clinking of spoons to gather everyone's attention. Soon, the noisy refectory is called to decorum as everyone turns their attention to the source of the noise.

Vivi stands up from her table which is at the middle of our eating space,"Now that I have your attention, you all know that my birthday is this Saturday. And of course, I will be throwing a party with respect to that. There is no special invitation this year so, you all are invited."

Excited murmurs fill the air.

"The celebration will be happening at my house. It's a red and white themed party." With that, she sits down.

Everyone resumes thier murmurs and excited discussions.

A junior student comea over to our table, timidly, to tell Tony that a teacher requests his presence. Tony hurriedly finishes his meal and leaves.

A while later, the bell goes off, signaling the end of lunch. Kiki gives me a somewhat disappointed look before walking off and leaving me with Nasir.

"You are coming for the party, right?" I ask Nasir as we go back to class.

"Only if you are." He winks.

"Of course, I'm coming." I reply with a chuckle.

We engage in other small talk till we get to my class. He sees me off at my class door before going to his.

I sit down beside Kiki who is busy with her phone.

"Don't say you weren't warned." She says coldly, eyes never leaving her phone.

I simply sigh and rest my head, waiting for the next teacher to come in.
