*Keeping It a Secret*

Applejack's POV

I woke up with a problem.

And that problem's name was Rainbow Dash.

Because, for the first time ever...

I didn't wake up thinking about beating her in a competition.

I woke up thinking about kissing her.

And that?

Yeah. That was a problem.

Because how the hell was I supposed to act normal now?!

The next morning, I walked into the kitchen, trying to act casual.

Rainbow was already there, sitting at the table, pretending to be very focused on her cereal.

I sat down across from her. "Mornin'."

She didn't look up. "Morning."

Pinkie suddenly GASPED.

We both jumped.

"OH. MY. GOSH," she screeched, pointing at us. "WHY ARE YOU TWO BEING WEIRD?!"

Twilight and Rarity immediately turned to look.

Fluttershy blinked. "Oh... oh dear."

I tensed. "We ain't bein' weird."

Rainbow stuffed cereal in her mouth. "Mmhmm. Normal. Totally normal."

Pinkie squinted. "LIARS."

Twilight pushed up her glasses. "Wait a second."

She looked between us.

Narrowed her eyes.

And then-

Her jaw dropped.

"Oh my STARS." Rarity practically fell out of her chair.

Rainbow choked on her cereal. "WHAT?!"

Twilight pointed at us, smirking. "You two KISSED AGAIN, didn't you?"

I nearly spat out my coffee. "WHAT-"

Pinkie SCREAMED. "I KNEW IT!!!!"

I buried my face in my hands. "I hate y'all."

Rarity clutched her heart. "Oh, I knew it was coming, but still! THE ROMANCE!"

Fluttershy giggled softly. "I think it's wonderful."

Twilight grinned. "Soooo... when's the wedding?"

Rainbow groaned. "Oh my gosh."

Pinkie bounced in her seat. "THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER."

I sighed.

Yeah. We were never gonna hear the end of this.

A few hours later, Rainbow and I were sitting by the barn, alone.

She stretched, groaning. "Man. That was... a lot."

I huffed. "Pinkie nearly exploded."

Rainbow smirked. "Kinda impressive, honestly."

Silence.

I exhaled. "So... what now?"

She glanced at me, eyebrows raised. "What do you mean?"

I fiddled with a loose thread on my jeans. "I mean... we, uh. We are together now, right?"

Rainbow hesitated.

Then she smirked.

"You tell me, AJ."

And before I could answer-

She leaned in.

And kissed me.

Again.

My breath hitched.

I melted into it.

Because damn it, I could get used to this.

Applejack's POV

I had a new problem.

And her name was Rainbow Dash.

Because ever since we admitted we were together, she had decided to make my life a living hell.

By being annoying as all hell.

And by flustering me every two damn seconds.

I sat on the porch, scrolling through my phone.

And instantly regretted it.

Because the group chat was an absolute disaster.

Pinkie Pie: GOOD MORNING TO APPLEJACK AND RAINBOW DASH, THE MOST ROMANTIC COUPLE IN THE HISTORY OF EVER!!!
Rarity: Oh, do tell! Have there been more kisses? More longing gazes? More tension-filled moments?!
Twilight: Statistically speaking, new couples engage in 64% more public displays of affection in the first month-
Rainbow Dash: BLOCKED.
Applejack: How do I leave this chat.

I groaned loudly.

And right on cue-

Rainbow dropped onto the porch beside me, smirking.

"Lemme guess. The group chat?"

I glared. "I hate them."

She snorted. "Nah. You love 'em."

I grumbled.

Then-

She nudged me. "Hey."

I turned.

And before I could react-

She kissed my cheek.

I froze.

Rainbow grinned. "You're cute when you're mad."

My brain shut down.

I pushed my hat down to hide my face. "Oh, you're impossible."

She laughed, leaning back. "Yeah. But you're stuck with me now."

My heart jumped.

And for once?

I didn't mind one bit.

It was late.

The house was quiet. The stars were bright.

Rainbow and I sat on the porch steps, shoulders brushing.

We didn't say much.

We just... sat there.

Together.

For the first time in years, I wasn't thinking about beating her in something.

I was just thinking about her.

Rainbow stretched, sighing. "This is weird, huh?"

I smiled. "Yeah. But I don't mind."

She smirked. "Same."

I hesitated.

Then-

"...I'm glad it's you."

Her smirk faded.

She turned to me, something soft in her expression.

And just like that-

I knew.

We were in this.

For real.

For good.

She nudged me. "C'mere, farm girl."

And just like that-

She kissed me.

Again.

And I knew-

I had never been more sure of anything in my life.
