Valerie had woken and was surprised to learn that she had been in a coma. Fenris told her everything and she rushed to see me. Although her alpha didn't allow it she forced her way through.
She met me with a shocked look and I rushed to hug her.
"You're awake!" I cried.
The next hour flew by as we talked.
I told her everything that had happened while she was in the coma, and she was shocked at almost everything I had to say, I didn't blame her though, I couldn't believe the words spilling out of my mouth. I was a vampire? My best friend Werewolf was in a coma? Vampires were after me? I sounded crazy.
I then got hit with a wave of emotions, I wanted to go home, I didn't need all of this. I clung to Valerie, and despite my random burst of emotions, I felt like she understood. She hugged me tightly, and we fell to the ground. Staying in each other's arms until the alpha burst into the room.
"Both of you stay here! Valerie protect her, they're here..." He quickly left and I looked up at her.
"Who!?"
"Vampires..."
"Again!? That's ridiculous."
"Vampires," I muttered, thinking maybe I had misheard, or that this was perhaps some sick joke. But I knew that if the Alpha had told us it, it must have been true. They were really hunting me? I shivered, feeling suddenly cold, despite the warmth of the day. Valerie was quiet, her voice barely a whisper as she spoke.
"Stay quiet."
Valerie pressed a finger to her lips, signaling me to stay quiet. We stayed there, in each other's arms, breathing quietly as the silence filled the room. We could only hear the soft beating of our own hearts, and it felt like the world was holding its breath along with us.
There were bangs, screams, and cries, but we could do nothing as they continued to fight. Just then the door opened once more, but who I thought to be Ivailo was actually a vampire! He looked at us both and quickly lunged at me. Valerie got in front of me, trying to hold him back.
"RUN!" She cried, his sharp nails digging into her flesh. I felt paralyzed, unable to move. I stood like an idiot and just watched them fight.
Valerie was an incredible fighter, fighting with all her strength to hold the vampire off, she was losing more blood with each passing second. But I just stood there, doing nothing, I couldn't believe my cowardice. The vampires were after my blood, not Valeries, I should at least help her, but instead, her blood drained from her body and all I could think about was how pathetic I was.
I didn't want any of this, I fell back to the floor weeping, closing my eyes. I wanted the world to go away, I didn't like this reality. Then I heard a cold thud to the ground, my telling point that someone had won. A knot grew in my stomach and I didn't dare look up. Even when I felt two cold hands picking me up.
"You're safe now, little vampire."
