"How can this be?" Edmon whispering voice asks as both of them stare at that page where they can see that man. "I believe he wanted us to find this" She speaks to him. Aithne cannot look away from that page which she has seen many times before, for she has read this book a couple of times. "Why would he want for us to find it?" He asks her as he looks at his best friend and away from the page which carries the man that disappeared not that long ago. "For he is not done with me" She whispers as she meets the eyes Edmon.
He raises an eyebrow at her, confused and perhaps even angry. That anger is not directed at the Princess, who he guards with his life. Rather, his anger is not only directed at himself but also the one that had put her life in jeopardy. Which he has sworn he would catch, one way or another he will catch that man and eliminate the threat against Aithne and her ascend to the throne for they have already lost one great monarch, they will not lose another one and Edmon will not lose his best friend.
Eyeing her, the guard cannot help but see something in her eyes that might suggest that she has come up with something. "I wish to be alone now, you can leave" She speaks to him. The tone of her voice tells him that he should not question her order. There have to be times which he pushes the friend inside him to the side so that he can follow her orders. Princess Aithne is higher in status that he is, and she is soon to be Queen. With a sharp nod, the guard bows before her and walks towards the door. "You know what to do" He tells her as he turns towards her.
Aithne looks at him. "Yes" She whispers, just barely loud enough for him to hear. As much as he would want to be there and protect her as he is meant to, it are her orders that he has to follow. When he leaves her chambers, the girl lets out a sigh as she sits down. Adjusting gown, gown she clears her throat. The silence is the loudest sound around her and the future Queen marvels in that silence, for now when the silence has a hold on her chambers she can think.
Closing her eyes, she sets her hands down on her thighs with her palms facing the ceiling. The beating heart inside her chest seems to beat slower as she takes a couple of deep breaths. Bringing forth this calm emotion throughout her entire body, where the blood in her veins travels with it. Then it happens. With the time that ticks down the minutes of this day that was supposed to be the most important day of her life, something that only a select few have ever seen in their lives.
Right in the center of her palms, just a little bit in the air, the tiniest of light forms. It floats there, and it becomes brighter and brighter with each passing second that is allowed to tick by. She lets out a breath as her eyes open. So softly, her eyes open to meet the eyes of that light which stares back at her. This gentle smile comes to her face when she sees it. Aithne cannot look away from this glow in her hands. It's so vibrant and kind to her, not does it wish to harm her in any type of way.
In fact it does appear to wish to protect her. The girl's attention is so far in that light, that single light of orb that is gloating in midair. Compelling her soft eyes to never look away. The glow does nothing to harm her from how bright it is. It does the opposite. The girl finds this comfort in it, and she allows it to. The longer that she looks at it, the deeper she gets lost in it. Not does she wish to break her gaze away from this light as it pulls her so deep in.
"I thought you'd quit that a long time ago" A voice shocks her. She jumps up, and the light disappears as she turns her head to the side to see the man that she saw not that long ago stand there. The last time she had seen him, he disappeared right before her very eyes. This time he seemed to appear right in front of her. She stands up and glares at him. "How did you get in here?!" Aithne asks him. Her eyes never looking away from him, as if he would disappear once more, and he would be gone before she would know.
A smirk of evil comes across his face as he takes a step towards her. Aithne does not move, nor does she show her fear of this man. "You know how" He tells her. She eyes him with a glare. "Get out of my chambers, right now. That is an order from your sovereign!" She speaks to him in a commanding voice which is filled with anger. When she could signal for her guards to barge into the room and arrest him, she knows it would not do anything. His smirk remains on his face.
As if her words do nothing. It annoys her terribly. "That cannot be done just yet. I would advise calling your guards. What would the people say when an unwed Princess is found in her bed chambers with another man?" He asks her, amused at this. This time she does take a step back, for it would ruin her if that scandal were to get out right before her coronation. "Why have you come here, then?" She asks him. She reaches for in a hidden pocket of her gown to a dagger which she carries around for protection.
Aithne does not need that dagger nor does she need any guards or any protection, for she can protect herself well enough and has done so. Yet, she is the future Queen and appearances do need to be met. The man chuckles. "Do not worry. I have not come here to harm you, yet. I already saved your life. I believe it is you who owe me one" He tells her with that same smirk which makes her even more annoyed with him. Wanting to get rid of it and wipe it off his face once and for all, that would make her feel much better.
"I owe you nothing. None asked for you to save my life, as you so put it. I cannot be defeated that easily, I will fight to the grave" She speaks to him with a glare. Wishing that her glare was strong enough to harm him. Her hand still around the handle of the dagger and she is prepared to use it if she is forced to. Aithne however makes no moves to attack for he has not shown that he were a treat just yet, and it would not make matters any better if she attacks an unarmed man.
He walks two steps forward, but this time she does not move like she had done before. He laughs at her words as if she were a child that desperately tries to belong in a crowd of adults yet only seems to amuse them and see it as nothing more than a child rather than a treat or something that could rival them. "Your anger never cease to amaze me, little one, or should I say old one now?" He asks, with a grin plastered on his face. Her glare only deepens with the rage.
"I am not old, as you can see I am not" She tells him, clearly not as amused as he is. "You have not yet told me your reasoning for showing up inside my chambers, if you do not wish to answer many questions, then I advise you to leave, or I will call my guards. Despite how my reputation will end. They will take me to my word, I am their future Queen while you are a criminal on the run" She speaks to him. Prepared to signal for Edmon any second now if he were to stay there any longer.
"A future Queen you might be but you are much, much more than that, are you not? You proved that when you used your... what do you call it now?" He asks her as he walks over to her. He stands in front of her and grins at her. There is this glint in his eyes as he stares at her. One which she does not understand just yet. She glares at him. Aithne does not back away from him nor show that she has begun to feel this slightest bit of fear for him. "I am your Princess and you will answer my questions, now who are you?!" She asks.
The way that her toen has darkened and grown angrier should tell any man that she will not hesitate to use force if need be. And she does command an army and a kingdom, and she is respected and loved. "You know who I am. After all, your book speaks who I am and who you are. We are destined, you and I. When it comes down to it, you should be asking yourself these questions" He tells her which brings forth confusion. "I should ask myself questions I do not know the answer to?" Aithne asks him.
A nod and the man backs away, he walks backwards to the wall behind him and then leans against it, where he stays in the shadows. "I said that we would meet again, and now I will say it once more. You, Princess, will see me soon. However, the next time I shall be in your chambers, will be when you invite me inside, and believe me, it will be a night to remember" The man speaks to her and then gives her a wink as he chuckles. Then just like before he disappears.
She gasps, but not because he had disagreed but rather because of the scandalous words that he spoke to her. Standing there shocked she looks at the place where he had been before. Not once did he answer her questions, in fact he brought forth even more questions to the Princess which stands there. He had seen what she could do and now he can us it against her. Never will Aithne be able to undo it, yet she can capture him and force him to never speak of what he had seen in her chambers.
With a sight, she sits back down onto the chair. Her hand does not let go of the dagger. As if she has this need that she needs to use it. When the girl knows very well that she does not need that dagger to defend herself, yet she does keep it for she has to and her guards, and her best friend has told her to have it on her at all times. As the Princess and future Queen sits there on that chair she turns towards the book and towards the image of the man that had just been here.
In the time that he had been present inside her chambers, Aithne had been able to study him a bit more than she before. And while there is far too much that she does not understand about his appearance, and she has yet to study his every flaw that she knows he has. She has to admit that the picture inside the book is identical to the one that had just been there. A man that she has seen many times when she read the book. Under the picture of the man there is a name. His name. Azrael.
