~Nine~
So close and yet so far. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I have been down this route so many times. My cursed can never be broken. I watch as my wounds heal as if the rain is clearing. They all look at me still. Sorry about that. I freaked all of you out.
"Apologies for that." I say.
"What... what the fuck are you?!" Percy yells.
"An immortal. A terrible curse." I sigh.
"If you're an immortal, then why do you want to die?" Vex asks.
"Is it not obvious? I want to end it all. I have been imprisoned on this rock for too long." I say.
"How long?" Scanlan asks looking at me.
"Too long. I've about... two-thousand ninety-five hundred years old." I sigh.
"Yeah... that's old." Scanlan draws back.
"You think so? I hadn't noticed." I chuckle.
I turn.
"I thought you guys could kill me. It was stupid- neither dragon, demons, Gods even, none can put me in the grave." I sigh.
"Do... do you want your gold back?" Pike asks.
"Nah. Keep it." I say.
"Praise you." Pike mutters.
"Hey you!" The tavern door swings open.
We all turn. The owner comes out in a huff. He was breathing out smoke.
"Did you... did you guys not pay?" I ask.
"We... we were following you!" Pike yelps.
"No one cheats me!" The owner roars.
He charges forward with arms of soldiers. I let out a breath.
"Well, goodbye." I say.
"Wait, you dragged us into this mess." Vex hisses.
"You're right." I take out my cursed sword.
The blade starts glowing red. A black vine wraps around it. I pull my hair back. This should be fun. I missed a good fight. Blood rises from my arms. A smile forms on my face.
"Oh, this will be fun." I say.
