~Forty-Three~
Vax sits me down. I wince. It doesn't hurt as bad as how much they're talking about it. I look back at the rest of them. They seem to be really struggling with the edge of the storm. They all look like children trying to build a castle. He opens my coat more.
"Oh. Oh. Fuck." He looks like he's going to puke.
"Bad?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Not that bad." He says.
"It went right through, didn't it?" I ask.
"Yes... but don't worry. Don't worry, it's already regenerating." He smiles.
"There is... something I have to ask you." I say.
"Sure." Vax says.
"What did you say to me earlier?" I ask.
He blushes.
"I um... said you're not a monster." He blushes.
"And?" I ask.
"I... admitted to have feelings for you." He blushes.
"You do realize when all this is over, I'm going to kill myself with the dagger." I say.
He looks up.
"You... you don't have to." He stands up.
"I kind of do. I've been rotting on this earth for quite a long time." I stand up.
I watch my wound heal.
"I am so sick and so fucking tired." I sigh.
"But..." He starts.
I put my hand on his shoulder.
"I need you." He whispers.
I press my lips into his.
I am waiting for you. Our time is coming. Everything is aligning.
I draw back. I bite my lip. What the fuck do you mean? You owe me answers.
In time, but first you must get through.
We turn and I see the veil opening suddenly.
"I did it!" Scanlan yells.
"It's probably a trap." Vax says.
"Let's go!" Grog grabs us.
