"We're almost there!" I call.

I see them still struggling. I roll my eyes. We are almost to the place Gilmore thinks the dagger will be. The most dangerous land. Only Vex seems to catch up with me very quickly. Vex punches my shoulder. I look at her in surprise.

"We need to talk. Somewhere else." Vex grabs my hand.

I suppose I deserve this. I did have sex with Vax a couple of times and he just kissed me bluntly in front of everyone. I look down. What am I doing? I can already feel her rage. I know she'll tear me apart. It's not like I wanted this. Vax and I just kind of happened. It's hard to explain it. She pulls me a ways from the group. She looks at me.

"You can hurt me if you want." I say.

She charges at me. I know she'll stab me. I'm not even going to fight. But... she hugs me? I jump in surprise. Did she not know what I had done? What Vax and I have done together? Why is she hugging me?

"You make him so happy." Vex sniffs.

"I have not heard that word for centuries." I admit.

"Please, don't kill yourself." Vex sniffs.

"What?" I ask.

"The dagger will kill you." Vex says.

"That's the best part." I say.

"But you'll hurt him!" Vex slaps me.

I wince.

"Oh! Sorry. Sorry. Sorry." Vex says.

She starts touching my face.

"It's fine." I push her off.

"Oh good, good, good. I have a tendency to break balls." Vex says.

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

"Oh, um... I break Scanlan's balls all the time." Vex says.

"No, no, no. Not that. That's disgusting. What do you mean about hurting him?" I ask.

"He is in love with you." Vex says.

"He is?" I look at her in surprise.

"You don't know what love is?" Vex asks.

"It's been so long. I have forgotten." I push past her.
