I take off my shirt. Honestly, I don't know what I was thinking to be perfectly honest. However, I have to fight for Berk. I've seen the fire up close too many times. Toothless growls at me. I move my hand around the Dragon Blade.
"Hiccup, this is by far the craziest and stupidest idea ever." Astrid slams open the doors.
I turn.
"Yeah, it's even dumber than what we would come up with." Tuff says.
"Thank you. I am aware." I say.
"Hiccup, you are not serious." Astrid says.
"It's kind of too late to call it off." I say.
"But you could easily be killed!" Astrid says.
"He is a stick." Ruff agrees.
"And he could easily be snapped." Tuff says.
I roll my eyes at them.
"Hiccup, this isn't the way to save Berk." Fishlegs says.
"Hey, I'll be fine." I say.
"No, you really won't." Astrid says.
I look at her. She has a point. This is probably the most insane move I've ever done. I've fought against Astrid and usually I would lose. What's it going to be like to fight a war chief? Dad comes in. He looks... disappointed and scared. Trust me, he's not as scared as I am.
"Can you guys give us a moment?" Dad asks.
"Sure." Astrid turns.
"If he lasts that long." I hear Fishleg's mutter.
I ignite the blade. I let out a breath as they close the doors. I turn to face the thing I've been dreading.
"So... how much trouble am I in?" I ask.
He doesn't speak. He just sits down on a table. I was expecting him to tear me apart but instead... he's praying?
"Dad... you're not upset?" I ask.
"Of course I am, but more than that I'm afraid." He says.
"Afraid? You?" I sit down beside him.
"I'm afraid for you." He says.
I put my hand on his hand.
"You have no idea how much I am." I lean my head against his shoulder.
