Chapter 20
The settling of people made a nostalgic feeling flow down to your hands almost like the memories when foreign missionaries would come to the church to share their food from whichever country they came from.
It was settled that half of the caravan of people would come to the orchard and stay within the church while the rest stayed at the castle.
Although reluctant at first not wanting to give Adrain the impression that you were leaving on purpose, he quickly reassured you by tenderly holding your hands and pressing a delicate kiss to your forehead.
It was brisk when on that hill allowing those to take shelter in the abandoned dorms to have. A sheepish smile when showing the inside of the creaking wooden floors and stone walls of the inside feeling like a neglected host for allowing those seeking safety and shelter to be sleeping in these conditions.
No amount of apologies was going to save this moment and the haunting memories will always come back.
Yet all wasn't lost when noticing there was limited food. Quickly grabbing your coat heading down to the orchard finding what ripe apples were left on the trees using your pockets as makeshift baskets and huddling whatever your arms could carry.
They seemed thankful, some of the older women grasping your hands softly as thanks.
The somber mood was quickly interrupted when seeing several children climbing to look out of the window by the stairs leading up.
Politely telling them to come down so as to not hurt themselves waving for them to go grab an apple laid neatly in a pile on the wooden benches where confession would be.
Sighing to yourself ready to close the grungy drapes only to see a light flicker in the distance coming from the castle.
Biting your bottom lip wondering if it were to be safe to leave these people as you fidgeted in your boots wanting to go see.
Making a rash decision you clasped your hands together to grab everyone's attention.
"I am sorry for the negligence of my hosting, yet I am going to have to ask that you all remain here until I come back."
'Lord Jesus, kill me now.' you thought feeling a chill run down your spine.
-
"Adrain and Greta are going to kill me" you panted hands glowing using the shadows as a means of transport making a strider-like creature run with its long legs.
The glow became brighter with each moment stopping at the tree line when seeing night creatures trying to invade the castle.
Jumping off without hesitation conquering up red daggers of blood that had already spilled onto the ground lacerating your way to the grand doors of the castle waving your hands.
Spinning and ducking as monsters swiped having their limbs cut off in the end before making a jump and roll into the castle having almost your sleeve get caught.
"Y/N?" Adrian asked incredulously watching as you rose from the floor with a soft giggle from adrenaline.
"Glad I got here in time otherwise I would have missed the fun" you panted wiping off your hands of the specks of blood.
Greta laughed placing a hand on her hip "You got guts kid, but let's save the conversation afterward."
Just as she was done speaking the clatter of a battle upstairs raged with a glow of red.
