Chapter 2

It was like a blink, one moment in the water almost downing and then next to your suddenly laying on the bank of the river. Hair and clothes were soaked. Droplets of water dripped off your eyelashes having to wipe them from your eyes before sitting up. No water was in your lungs that needed to be coughed which saved you the trouble of getting possibly sick.

"You awake" came to a sudden voice from behind startling you to your feet. The same boy from before stood behind leaning against part of a chipped rock watching tentatively as you started backing away.

It took a while for you to stop staring and to actually say something. "Did you save me?" You waited for an answer anxiously but only received a look from the golden eyes that squinted at you before the boy started walking away.

For whatever compelled you you caught his arm just before the boy could fully walk away. The boy didn't appear mad about being pulled back but he did have a slight interest as to why this human pulled him back. When taking a better glance at this girl he realized how she looked, almost like a doll he was looking at.

Still being children he knew that this was probably the only time he was fond of another person asides from his mother.

The time they had only met would be continuous playing. Even with the pestering by the girls nagging. Over time the two became to see each other once more. Still by the rocks of where you had been carried by the river.

"Adrian how long has it been since we met?" You asked while braiding your hair in the time of laying under the apple tree with the golden-haired boy sitting on a branch above her taking in the site of the orchard.

In his thoughts, he wondered as to what a beautiful place such as this could withstand that of the greed of the world. Glancing down at the beauty below him he wondered if this place would be ideal enough for you to remain like this.

"Do you believe I can travel with you one day?" You suddenly spoke quaking the golden boys' thoughts.

"What makes you say this?" He questioned curiously seeing as all you had ever asked in the short week of being paired was about his secluded life and if he could take your life with him. Which was starting to wheen off his interest in you?

"Is there a possibility that we could live forever?" You questioned looking up at him with those eyes he came to secretly admire. Although he wasn't much on talking just like you weren't it still didn't keep him from answering.

"You shouldn't say such a silly thing," He said simply sounding obvious which the girl never did seem to notice.

You laughed as a smile gently appeared on your lips "Guess you are right but would you be upset if I was to one day disappear?" You questioned fiddling with your thumbs as you got off the ground. To you, it was a need just so you could understand your point before wanting to leave.

There was a sigh heard from the golden boy clearly you were annoying him which to you was amusing. He jumped down before standing in front of you who was clearly smiling enjoyably. Adrian shook his head but never showed any sign that he was amused by this childish act.

"It will be sundown. I must return to the church now" You said when glancing off in the distance "You need to return home Adrian. If your parents know you have come back then I wish to not have you blamed for my mistake of calling."

Adrian spoke nothing as he watched you return the same way as you had always come to see him. Footprints never ceased from the ground as no other soul had ever come to find a trace. In the pit of his being despite being only a child, he very well knew that someday you would no longer be arriving due to age or perhaps another person may come to your liking.

His heart pained at the thought of having to let this beauty go as his eyes cast to the sky watching as the sky bent to dark.

"Your mother is worried" came a voice as the cold wind nipped at any mortals skin when all the sun's reflection on the orchards leaves shad diminished entirely.
