Chapter 13
The morning sun was something you had never been so grateful to see. Having once been pulled into darkness due to your curse and now you were free to return to being human.
Gazing as the land was glazed in soft caramel gold rays of sunlight that only last night was stained bleeding rid of every sin.
"Will you be leaving as well, Y/N?" Alucard questioned glancing towards the horizon as the sun became more unseeable the more it drifted to earth as a light shadow cast on your face. He could see now as to why you captivated and never left his mind.
"It will take centuries until I manage my curse..." You replied moving a hand onto the markings on your left arm before glancing at Trevor and Sypha getting to leave "I may travel with them for the time being, though, I do want to restore the orchard," You stated giving a soft smile as you fiddled with your bandaged fingers. "I'll be sure to send you some when the apples are in season."
While everything was set on the goal you had at the beginning, you still couldn't believe that it had ended so quickly. "It had been. Satisfying being on this journey. Had I not saved them and possibly smash my brains out. I would have still been wandering blindly" You laughed lightly just when feeling the need to stay.
Alucard stayed silent dissatisfied that there was not any sign of you regaining your memories. He adored your presence even if you had not interacted with them for very long. A hair of a smile was on his lips as in all of what's happened he would only be able to wave goodbye.
Already on the wagon sitting on the backbench as you watched the castle became farther and farther away as the more you rode on. Glancing at the moving ground watching as rocks kicked up under the wooden wheels of the wagon as the feeling of heavy guilt suddenly collapsed onto your shoulders. You didn't want to leave after all.
Trevor and Sypha shared the same smile as they watched you jump out of the wagon in a full sprint heading back towards the castle. The wind blowing against your hair taking it out of the loose string, that once tied your hair as the awakening rays of the sun reflected the fervid emotions in your eyes.
A silly grin spread across your face. Heart racing as your excitement grew to make you sprint faster. Lungs burning with every breath you panted with legs threading to give. The memories came back.
Alucard sat on his father's chair, staring faintly as to what he must do now. Tears still lingered on his face as he sat up gazing at the dusty bookcases and paintings along the walls. The damage done to this grand castle would take anyone's lifetime. Hearing your voice was thought to be his distorted imagination. Glancing at the only window in the room for a brief moment before turning back to putting books away until he heard your voice echo.
"Adrian!" Your voice echoed through the gothic castle. Having to take a knee to catch your breath before standing back up. Walking inside seeing the ruins of the battle against Dracula from last night still had yet to be fixed.
Echoing steps drawled your attention to the grand steps. Adrian's expression was one of confusion, not expecting anyone to return.
"Adrian.." You sighed exhaustedly but forced a smile.
"I thought you had left?" Adrian questioned walking towards you. Although inside he was glad you had come back. Having your presence back made him relaxed until he took a quick note of the sweat rolling down your cheek, and your face was flushed. "Did you run back?"
Sheepishly you grinned with a meek nod in embarrassment. "I had to come back. There was something I had to tell," you stated now feeling anxiety come through the exhaustion. "This hasn't been the only time I've become timid... but I wanted to tell. My memories have resurfaced. I didn't want to pass up the opportunity, how long would I still be around when the next time I see you. I-I love you."
When looking up, at the vampire, his head had cast downwards. Not being able to tell his expression as his golden hair cast a shadow. A rising feeling of guilt warmed in thinking you may have upset him finding it inappropriate of you to have confessed.
His arms gradually raised from behind you wrapping around your small frame, holding you delicately against him. Your face rested against his chest. A perplexing expression filled your eyes until relaxing, returning Alucard's embrace.
Adrian kept his hand on your shoulders when letting go. Looking up at him, seeing his bright smile, and sparkle of his golden eyes made your heart flutter.
"How could I ever think you would never come back?" Adrian's words held to love, as he brushed his thumb across your cheek seeing that the real you had come back "How I missed you."
"I'm finally able to see you again.." You laughed out through stuttered sobs.
Adrian lent his hands down, lowing his hands to the middle of your back before pressing his lips onto your which you gladly accepted after so long.
