⚫️ Chapter 7: A New Find ⚫️

~~~~~~~~~Third Person POV~~~~~~~~~
The boy who opened the door smiled, though it was not a happy. North Lucis Northstar was quite a tall person, with platinum blonde hair, light blue eyes, and pale skin, freckles covering his nose and cheeks, along with his shoulders and his dragon-like wings.
He was Lidia's brother, younger by a year, who was unfortunately made deaf when he was five years old. Not that it's ever been a wall for him, he's an incredibly smart and kind young man.
As luck would have it, Lola was well known with American Sign Language, so she could understand most of what he said, and could ask and answer back. "Sorry we took so long."
"No worries." North answered, and opened the door a little more so they could all walk inside.
The inside of the house was also painted in bright and pastel colors, along with mostly crystals used to the decorations. These two siblings weren't from Earth, and their whole species' life force was bound to the crystals of their original home. They both have very powerful magic, which in the Earthling scale, Lidia's is similar to the Air element, while North's is similar to Water.
He sat on the couch, and so did the others, Lola raising her hands as she talked with both her voice and her hands. "Sorry for the sudden visit, but we've decided to take this investigation into our own hands. Do you mind if we search around and ask some questions about your sister?"
He shook his head. "Search and ask as much as you like.."
"Gia, you and Lola stay here to ask questions. The rest of us will search around." Victor suggested as he stood up. "Iv, you're the second closest to Lidia besides Lola, you can search her bedroom."
Nodding in agreement, Iv went upstairs and to her lost friend's bedroom. Pink and mint colors were what was mostly seen around, along with more crystals.
It was a simple room, with a neat white bed with pink and mint sheets, a desk with a mirror over it,  with books and some makeup on it, a dresser, and a small chest. Obviously it was an invasion of privacy to search around someone's bedroom without their permission, but they had to search for any clues they could get.
She tried not to move anything too out of place, the positions of things could still mean something, but she still searched thoroughly.
Nothing.
She was hoping to find more of that blue dust, maybe then she could tell if the two cases were connected.
But that would've been far too easy, wouldn't it?
She hoped for too much.
With a heavy sigh, she gave the room one last scan, and that's when she noticed a small green light emanating from inside the treasure chest in the room.
Hadn't she already searched inside it?
Maybe she missed something.
Once again, she casted a quick spell to unlock the chest and searched through all the accessories inside it. Her eyes then widened as she pulled out a pear of green crystal earrings, which had a soft glow.
She recognized these, Lidia always wore the same pair of earrings everyday, without fail. It was the main source of her magic, just like North's blue crystal necklace was for him.
But she remembered what they looked like before, she glowed far more than this.
What happened to them?
With the earrings in her hands, Iv closed the chest and walked downstairs. When Lola noticed her, she quickly made her way over. "Okay, I've got some news."
"So do I, you go first."
"Okay, so Lidia was suppose to be already in her room that night since it was past midnight. North woke up when he sensed something was wrong, so he woke up around two thirty in the morning, and Lidia was gone. But get this, the window was open, and that window can only be opened from inside."
"Couldn't the culprit have used an unlocking spell?"
"Not for this house, it has an immunity spell."
"Which means Lidia probably left the house on her own free will." Iv thought out loud, a finger pressed against her chin. She then showed the pair of green earrings. "Well, I found these inside her jewelry chest."
Lola's eyes widened. "What?! She only takes those off to sleep, and even then, she never hides them!"
"Wait a sec.." A thought suddenly clicked in her head, and she walked over to Noah as Lola followed behind. "Noah, question."
"What is it?"
"Your dad's hat, that's his main source of power, right?"
He nodded. "He is much weaker without it."
"Then there might be a pattern here after all." Leaving Noah confused, Iv walked back over to North, who at the moment was getting comforted by Gia.
She gently tapped his shoulder before sitting beside him, who wiped away a tear as he sniffled. It didn't take long for him to notice the earrings that rested on her hands, his eyes widening before speaking.
Iv turned to Lola. "What's he saying?"
"Same thing I said, she only takes those off to sleep."
North then took one of the earrings, expecting it for a little while before speaking again, Lola translating. "He says they're much weaker than normal."
"I figured as much because of the glow." Iv replied, eyes focused on the other. "Ask if we can give these to Ben, maybe he can figure out more."
Lola asked so, and North gave a nod. They all agreed that it was time to investigate someplace else, and walked over to the door. However, just before Iv could leave, she felt a hand being placed on her shoulder, looking back to see North standing behind her.
Pulling his hand away, trying to keep them steady as he spoke with them, he mouthed three simple words.
'Please find them.'
There was an ache in her heart, but at the same time, a certain desire. A desire to search for the truth.
This time, he smile was confident as she gave him a nod for reassurance. "We will."
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
