⚫️ Chapter 4: We Begin ⚫️

~~~~~~~~~Iv's POV~~~~~~~~~
"Okay, what do we know so far?" Lola asked, on her note's app on her phone.
I thought a bit. "Well, there should be a pattern with all the victims, right? What do all the victims have in common?"
All of us began to think, there had to be something that would connect. Gravity Falls was a small town, and most people knew most people. However, we all went back to reality when we heard Sage let out a groan.
She had a hand over her stomach, her head leaned forward as if she were nauseous; Gia then placed a hand on her shoulder. "You okay..?"
"Y-yeah, I've just been feeling a little sick recently, nothing important.."
Helping Sage up, Gia turned to us. "I'll take her to the bathroom, you guys keep thinking about this." And with that, they both left the room.
Victor turned to us. "How about we list all the victims? We could track down a pattern with that."
We nodded in agreement, and Lola started typing down every name we remembered, and in the order they disappeared.
•Bill Cipher
•Justin Merrifield
•James Jones
•Jasmin Turner
•Ella Lopez
•Cynthia Riverton
•Leonardo Jackson
•Aiden Anderson
•Quirin VonLance
•Kira Smith
•Luka Oaks
•Cody Valentine
•Lina Morningstar
•Laurie Lunetta
•Lidia Northstar
"These are really all the victims..?" Noah asked as he stared at Lola's phone with a pained expression. "I didn't think there were so many.."
Lola bit the edge of her thumb. "It's only been six months since it started, too.."
"What'd you guys find?" Gia asked as she walked in.
I gave a small shrug. "Nothing yet. Where's Sage?"
"I left her in her room to rest, she should feel better soon." She then sat beside me and looked at the list we made, her expression falling a bit. "Those are all the victims, right..?"
We all nodded, and Lola looked up at us. "Wait, all of these people have magic."
"Not all." Vic pointed at the phone. "As smart as he may be, Mr. VonLance is just a normal human."
"True.."
"So the magic part doesn't work for us then..?" Gia asked, fiddling with a few strands of her hair.
I shook my head. "I guess not.."
Lola stared at her phone for a little while, then looked up at Noah. "When exactly did your dad go missing? And where was he suppose to be?"
"That's the thing, he was up in his study like he did everyday. When it was dinner time, he never came downstairs, and started freaking out when he was still gone the next day.."
An idea came to mind, and I stood up from the couch. "Can we go to his study?"
"Huh?"
"There might be some clues there."
He thought for a little while, slightly gripping his sleeve. "To be honest, none of us have entered his study since he's been gone.."
Gia placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know this must be horrible for you and your family.. But if there's a chance we can find him, we need to investigate every possibility.."
He didn't respond right away, soon letting out a sigh. "This way.."
We followed him up to the third floor and opened the giant door in front of us. Inside was a large room with more books than I could count; the shelves of books filled every wall, reaching the ceiling, and no space was empty. A fancy desk was in the middle of the room, with papers and an antique feather pen on it.
Once we all went inside, a familiar face quickly turned to us.
Well, being specific, three familiar faces.
Cerberus, their family dog, ran over to me and stood against my leg. A chuckle escaped my lips, and I kneeled down to pet it's heads. "Hi, Cerby.."
From what I've been told, Bill won Cerberus Jr. in a poker game versus Hades back in the 1800s. The head on the left was Happy, the nice one of the three heads, and was always really cheerful. The one in the middle was Snappy, the aggressive one, who always growled at everyone new. And the one on the right was Derpy, who was always in his own little world.
Victor whistled in amazement. "Fancy!"
"I want everything and a half." Lola added, pupils wide with enchantment.
Gia kneeled down beside the dog. "Cerby, do you know anything about your owner..?"
All three heads' ears flattened down, whimpering softly. Gia and I exchanged a worried glance; Cerberus wasn't just an ordinary dog, that much was obvious, which just made the situation more hopeless.
With a sigh, I stood back up. "Alright, let's search around."
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
