⚫️ Chapter 22: A Jail For Victims ⚫️

~~~~~~~~~Iv's POV~~~~~~~~~
...
"Wake up..."
...
"Iv, you have to wake up.."
"But... I'm so tired..."
"I know, we all are.. but you can't give up, not yet.."
"You have to save us.. You're the only one who can.."
"Aiden.. where are you..?"
"You're the hero of this story, it's time you take the part.."
"Wake up.."
...
...
...
A small gasp escaped my lips as my eyes finally shot open. My blood was cold, my body heavy, my gaze hazy.
But I was alive.
"Why did the boss break the pattern?" I heard a voice behind me speak, followed by another.
"Apparently the girl figured out her identity, so she had no choice but to take her in."
"Her powers aren't really all that impressive."
"I know, but the more the merrier, right?"
"Hehe, yeah."
Two shadows dressed in dark cloaks chuckled as they walked through the darkened narrow hallway, dragging me behind. That's when I noticed the rope that was tied around my torso and arms to keep me in place.
I'm not sure why I was able to wake up now, I don't think I was suppose to. But I did.
Which means I still have a chance to save myself.
Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes to concentrate. There was a part of my powers I barely ever got the chance to use, but this was definitely the write time for it. I could feel the warmth of my energy spreading through my entire body, and after about a minute, I felt completely numb.
I was now nothing more than a small pool of boiling lava, and when the shadows turned around at the lack of weight they were dragging, there eyes widened when they realized I was 'gone'.
"W-what the-?!"
"How did she-?!"
Before they could alert anyone, I went back to my normal form, took one of the loose bricks from the walls, and bashed them over the head, knocking them unconscious. Finally, I was able to take a moment to breathe, looking around.
Nothing was familiar to me..
The last thing I remember was my conversation with Sage, the visions I got from the necklace, my fight with Ash-
... Ashley..
Was she really the culprit all this time..? But this didn't make any sense..! How..? Why..?!
Ugh, now isn't the time to think about that. Right now, I just have to stay calm and escape this place before it's too late. I could use my magic as well as before, so I'm almost completely sure nothing has been done to me yet.
After tying up the guards with what remained of the rope, I began running down the many narrow hallways, all of them seeming like copies of the other. It was as if I was stuck in some loop, going down the same hallway over and over.
Thankfully the guards I had to avoid and the lighting were subtle enough changes to let me know that wasn't the case, and that I was going through different hallways.
Where? I had no idea.
Not too long passed until I reached a set of large doors that stuck out from the rest. This one had to guards standing in front, not to mention an electric lock.
Something important was behind that, maybe the exit?
I had to see.
Kneeling down, I pressed my hand against the floor, and as I felt my energy gather at my fingertips, I made sure the smoke I emanated covered the entire room. Soon enough, I heard the guards start to cough, slowly becoming louder until it was followed by a thud, then silence.
I saw the two passed out on the ground, and I cleared the air around. Hey, I was trying to escape, but I'm sure as heck not a murderer. These men were only doing a job.
It was an easy task to melt the lock and open the door.
But.. I wasn't ready for what I saw..
Inside the room were several talks fully filled with water, and inside each floated one of the many victims that had been taken.
Nate, Lidia, Laurie, Bill, Cynthia, Justin, Ella, Aiden, they were all here!
All unconscious inside the tanks, all wearing the same wetsuit, with an oxygen mask covering their noses and mouths so they could still breathe and stay alive.
It was.. an uncomfortable sight to see, a painful one too..
Closing the door behind me, I walked up to every tank to make sure there wasn't anyone missing. There weren't any control panels here, so I could only assume this was all controlled from somewhere else.
If I was captured here, this would all die with me. I had to get someone out of here, just incase I couldn't make it out. The obvious choice would be Bill, but from the looks of it, our theory was correct. No matter who I chose to save beforehand, they'd all be weak and powerless.
So.. I choose to save Aiden first.
It might be a selfish request, but he's smarter than I ever could be, and is far more strategic. If I could get him out of here, things would be much better outside this place.
I just hope we aren't too far away from town..
Thinking for a while, I got another loose brick from the wall. I couldn't just melt the tank, the heat would boil the water and kill him, so I had to break the glass another way. Not only that, I had to do it fast, I probably only had a few seconds of escape before some sort of alarm started to ring.
I only had one shot at this..
I needed enough strength to break enough of the tank, but I couldn't use too much, I could end up hurting him.
Feeling my energy gathering at my arms and legs, I tightly gripped the brick in my hands, seeing my eyes glow red in the glass reflection.
This has to be perfect.
With a fast swing, I crashed the brick into the side of the glass, breaking all through the front and other side; I quickly backed away as the water inside started to flow out of it, seeing Aiden now sitting on the floor of the talk, resting back against the back, eyes still closed.
Just as I expected, an alarm began going off. I could still feel the extra strength in my arms, so as fast as I could, I picked up my brother and ran to the door on the other side, melting it with my hand and attempting my escape.
I had to look forward..
Spells, a spell to look forward. It wasn't easy, but..
...
...
...
Got it! I know the exit!
I was able to protect my brother and I with walls of fire whenever the guards got to close, melting the bullets before they could bit. It only took a short while to make it to the exit doors, which resembled the ones from the other room.
However, as I melted that door, the heavy footsteps of a huge group of guards running over was heard beyond me.
If we both escaped, the guards would just bring us both back..
So.. I had to be a distraction.
Once the doors had a large enough gap, I placed Aiden at the other side, forcing on a smile. "Get to safety, I'll take care of the rest."
I forced an explosion to make sure he was sent far enough from here without getting hurt, then turned to the guards with a glare on my face.
"I'll make sure they won't come after you.."
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
