Imagine 8: Set Up Date🐞

pairing: Y/N x Lucifer

requested by my friend, hoplessromantic4356 😊

*summary: Y/N is Charlie's friend, and to Charlie, she is like a mother figure. So one day, Charlie comes up with the idea to invite both Y/N and Lucifer to dinner, only to try and set them up, which starts off a bit awkward, but overtime, Lucifer and Y/N start to click*

*Charlie's POV*

Charlie's mother by blood, Lilith, had left going on over seven years ago, for reasons...Charlie couldn't understand why.
Nor has she ever known why, the answers to her questions remain kept from her to this day.

Charlie at first believed that her mother would attempt to stay in touch during her absence from Hell but...she never did. No matter the hundreds of voicemails and text messages Charlie's left her--whether asking about how Lilith is doing or talking about the Hazbin Hotel--Lilith never replied back.

And overtime...Charlie just gave up, the final voicemail left to Lilith was about how the interview at 666 News didn't do well.
But that voicemail was six months ago.

A lot had changed during those six months. A well-known demon Overlord named Alastor joined the hotel staff, arriving in Hell after a seven-year absence. Charlie's father, Lucifer, tried his best to get Charlie a meeting with Heaven to discuss her hotel's possible success, only for the meeting to end...badly.

And for Hell to rise and rage war when the Extermination did come, ending with the original hotel crumpling, Adam being killed by Niffty, and for everyone to join together to rebuild the new Hazbin Hotel, which Charlie stands in now, curiously glancing towards your direction when she sees you're sitting at the newly built bar in mid conversation with Vaggie.

If there's one thing Charlie will point out, and always remember...is how YOU were there since day one. Since the day Charlie was on 666 News and ended up in a fistfight with Katie Killjoy.
You stood beside her and cheered her on during times when Charlie began to lose hope and faith.

You were the one to keep her standing, to keep her head on straight and her confidence strong.

Almost like...a mother.
Charlie exhales a little breath, before glancing down at her phone which buzzed in her pocket suddenly.
A text from her dad, simply asking if Charlie needed anything.

She smiles softly, beginning to type, before she stops, an idea coming to her head.
Charlie glances your way once more, an excited grin forming on her face as the strings in her head click.

For a while, Charlie's always felt like you were a mother figure to her. And since Lucifer is slowly beginning to break out of his shell which is depression and trying to get out there more...

Maybe...

Charlie texts her dad.

Charlie❤:
"Hey dad I'm alright for now, thxs! :) But there was something I've been wanting to ask. How'd you feel about joining me at Hell's Kitchen this weekend? There's someone I want you to meet!!!😃"

Charlie presses send and waits for his reply.
A few seconds' pass...then four...then five...before...

Lucifer🐥:
"Dinner at Hell's Kitchen does sound fun. But, not to be rude or anything, can't it be just you and me...?"

Charlie❤:
"Don't worry dad, she's really nice😊 I think you'll like her🤭"

Charlie smirks. Even though she can't see him, she knows he's probably blushing.
It's been a while since Lucifer's been out. He doesn't even have friends really--his rubber ducks that he CLAIMS are friends aren't really...they're toys--and since Charlie likes you, she thinks you're her dad's perfect match. Whether as friends, or something more.

She just wants her dad to be comfortable around people again, so she hopes that by bringing you to dinner with him, that maybe...he'll feel comfort again.

Lucifer🐥:
"Well...if it's something you want, then ok :)"

Charlie squeals, before nervously waving at you and Vaggie when you both heard her squeal of joy. Oh goodness she almost blew it. That was close.

Charlie❤:
"Yay!!! I'll call and get reservations for this Saturday at 5:00 PM, okay?! Can't wait!!!😍😃😁"

Charlie slips her phone back into her pocket as she runs up to you and Vaggie.
"Hey Y/N! You're invited to have dinner with me and my dad at Hell's Kitchen this weekend!"

*Few Days Later*
*Your POV*

You exhale a soft breath, spinning a little in front of the mirror, your hand tugging at the collar of your dress.
It isn't too much, is it? Or is it possibly to less? This is Hell's Kitchen. Hell's number 1# fanciest restaurant that's so expensive no one besides royalty can afford it.

So, you have to look your best, while at the same time, not looking like you're trying to much.

At first, you were hesitant to take Charlie's invite to such an extravagant place and meal, deep down feeling as if something like that was out of your league, but you didn't want to hurt Charlie's feelings, so you in the end accepted her offer. Despite being a nervous wreck...knowing Lucifer Morningstar will be there as well.

You've never MET him, you've simply seen him from afar, but tonight you suppose you'll be sitting across from him for a few hours.
It's a little nerve-racking, for multiple reasons. One being he's the KING OF HELL, two because he's ALSO a fallen angel, and three...he's actually...really handsome.

The type of handsome that'll cause someone to not mentally be functioning when in his presence, only to be a stuttering mess and sweating while looking away, causing MORE awkwardness.
Ugh...you're going to be all those things tonight.

As you finish putting your hair up and attachign your hairpin, Charlie knocks on the door.
"Come in!"

She opens the door. Not really dressed as fancy, still wearing her day-to-day suit but her hair is braided in a French braid with a pink flower tucked in her ear.
"Y/N! Wow...you look so pretty!" She compliments your dress as her hands reach out to take yours. "You ready?"

You nod nervously, which she can sense.
Perhaps you're similar to Lucifer as well. She couldn't help but silently giggle at that.

Another smile appears on her face as her arm hooks around yours comfortingly. "This will be a lot of fun. You'll love it at Hell's kitchen I promise! They serve REALLY good food that's been teleported from the Earth realm itself! Plus, everyone is...welllllll," she shakes her hand a little, her mind searching its personal dictionary to find the word that doesn't say good or bad, but somewhere in between.

A chuckle escapes your lips.
"Well, no matter. What really matters is having a good time and good food! I'm actually excited for you to officially meet my dad!" She leads you out the door, "he may seem scary or intimidating at first but really he's a nice guy. Just...a little socially awkward. But don't tell him I said that, okay?"

"Alright," you respond as you take an inhale of breath, and exhale through your mouth.

Hell's kitchen...here we come.

When you and Charlie entered the double glass doors to the restaurant, you were stunned to silence at what you saw inside.
How could...something so beautiful exist in Hell?

(Left side of the restaurant)

(Right side of the restaurant)

Your eyes widen completely, your jaw dropping as every cell inside of you goes warm from excitement and joy at how in this world of Hell--a dark, sinful place home to all sinners--holds such an overlooked gemstone as this?

Charlie smiles at you as she notices your joy, and she giggles. "Nice huh?"
"It's amazing," you say breathless, before quickly wiping at your mouth. Goodness you're practically drooling over this hidden oasis in a cave of darkness and danger.

Lucifer sits in one of the booths, his hands gently tapping the table he sits as while his eyes travel from person to person in this restaurant, clearly feeling nervous and out of place, especially since a few demons have had their jaw drop when they catch sight of the king, Lucifer, himself.

Charlie waves at Lucifer, suddenly dragging you over to his table and clearing her throat. "Dad! This is Y/N, I think you've seen her a couple of times," Charlie grins, excited to see how Lucifer will react to seeing you.
When Lucifer's eyes raise from staring down at his empty glass to look at Charlie and you, he feels his cheeks grow warm.

He had seen you before, yes, though you always stayed away from the crowds and tend to be in the far back where he couldn't get a good view of your face. Though now...for the first time, seeing you stand nearly a couple feet away from him, wearing what he believes to be the most GORGEOUS Victorian style dress that seriously brings out your hair and eyes...he feels a blush forming on his cheeks.

With an awkward clearing of his throat, he tugs at the collar of his suit. "Charlie! Hi!" he says, laughing softly, though...not saying hi to you.
Your brow furrows. Was there something wrong? Do you already smell? Without anyone looking you sniff yourself. Nope, you don't smell. So why didn't he say hi back, why did he...treat you like a shadow.

Charlie clearly sees this behavior and decides to gently sit you down across from Lucifer, though not seating herself just yet. "Now! I'll go and tell someone at the front that we're here! Why don't you just stay here and chat, alright? Order some drinks, look through the menu, and I'll be back soon!"

"Charlie--" before you can finish, she runs off, and you're stuck...sitting...across...from Lucifer. The one who makes you feel so small and...you admit, a little worthless. You're a regular demoness, no power, no rank, all the while HE is the KING. A being who wields light and dark in both hands, whose rank is so high that no one could ever beat it.

You almost feel like you shouldn't be blessed to be in front of someone like him, even though you don't know much about him...it's just...a gut feeling, you'll say.
Lucifer finally glances your way, his fingers that were tapping the table now slightly scratching it. "Uhhh," he clears his throat, "SO! uh...what's your sign?"

"Pardon?" you ask, confused.
"Sign! Ya know like, astrological, that mumbo jumbo," he laughs awkwardly. This...isn't going well, is it?

"Oh uh, well, I was born (B/D) so I'm a (B/S,)" you reply, kind of chuckling. No one has asked you that in a while. It's kind of cute.

(A/N. B/D stands for birthday. B/S stands for birth sign)

"Oh, wow! So-so am I!" he laughs, louder than he should, before his laugh turns into a little wheeze as he leans back. "Sssssorry about that."
You try to smile, though the smells of his strong apple scented cologne waft the air, and you wave your hand a little to air it out.

"What's wrong?" he asks.
"Nothing, nothing," you reply, immediately realizing that what you did was considered rude. "Just...a fly," you tell a lie as a nervous laugh escapes your lips. Can he sense lies, because he's king of Hell? Or do you still have that cover?

He doesn't say anything back, his hands now clasping on the table as you notice his feet begin to tap under the table. Lucifer clears his throat. "Sooooo, you're helping my wittle girl? You better be," he laughs, before noticing your surprised yet scared expression on your face when his voice deepened. "S-sorry again I...that was a joke and well--uggghhhhh fuck," he buries his head on the table, mumbling something you can't quite hear.

Though, you don't go out of your way to ask what it is he said, in fear he'll snap at you. You don't want to be on Lucifer's bad side. Even if he seems like the type that'd never hurt a fly.
You sit in an awkward silence, glancing around to see if Charlie will come back, though she hasn't yet. Damn it does it really take ten minutes to simply go and let someone know that they've arrived?!

You're beginning to sense she did this on purpose...

As you begin to slowly scoot your way towards the end of the booth to stand up, Lucifer raises his head slowly, looking like an embarrassed child. "I'm sorry. It's been a while since I've been out. It's uhh...been about seven years," he coughs out the word, "but I've really been trying to, ya know, get out and as Charlie says, make friends. But...it's way harder than it sounds. Especially when everyone down here sucks, no offense to you of course! Or to my daughter's friends--wait, I take that back. There's ONE particular guy..." he growls a little, "fucking tacky piece of shit."

You laugh nervously.
He looks at you. "Yeah, not proper table manners huh? Let me fix that," he clears his throat, sitting up straight and fixing his suit. "You look nice tonight. That dress looks..." he trails off, almost sighing like a high school girl whose staring at her crush, "it looks amazing on you."

You blush more then you should. "Thank you..." you glance at him. "I like your suit. And your cane."
"Oh really? Thanks!" He glances down at his white suit and cane with an apple on top. Ha! See Alastor? People like Lucifer's cane because it has an APPLE and people eat apples! Take that and shove it!

Lucifer chuckles bashfully, rubbing a hand behind his neck. "I feel underdressed in front of you though," he remarks, before smirking. "Are you a fallen angel, by chance?"
You laugh, shaking your head. "No."
"Shame, because you really look like one," he winks playfully, laughing at your blushing cheeks that are way to adorable.

At least...he's beginning to feel comfortable around someone now, that isn't his ducks, servants, or daughter. It's...nice.
The sounds of a piano and violin begin to play, and Lucifer can't help but glance it's way, smiling softly. "I love this song," he says, at the same time you said it. The two of you blush at how you both said the same thing at the same time.

"Jinx," you remark, giggling, before realizing that he stood up and extended a hand towards you. "Would you...like to dance?" he asks softly, with a grin on his face that dares you to go for it.
How could you turn down a dance with him? You can't. No one in their right frame of mind would.

You rise, taking his hand into yours, allowing him to lead you to the center of the dancefloor the restaurant had installed for couples to have a romantic sway with one another under crystal chandelier lights while live music plays a romantic tune in the corner off the dancefloor.

When Lucifer finds a spot he likes, he turns, placing his hands in the proper waltz position, as he then takes the lead, and dances with you.
His first dance since his marriage with Lilith. He didn't even know if he could remember the exact steps. Thank Hell he did remember the proper steps, or else he'd be embarrassed if he kept screwing up and stepping on your toes.

You can feel your heart pounding hard against your chest, and you're shocked to see that no one else--not even Lucifer--can hear it's beating.
You never once believed during your years in Hell that you'd dance with Lucifer, that someone like Lucifer would deem you worthy of his dance. It's...incredible. A memory you'll treasure forever. If you only get this moment with him just once...then so be it. You're pleased you even got to dance with him.

Lucifer spins before dipping you, his hand raising higher up your back, and your cheeks grow even more warmer, as a squeak leaves your lips.
Lucifer smirks. He's still got it...
When he raises you back up, he continues to lead the dance, making sure to add enough of grace and romance to each step and move, enjoying the sight of your blushing cheeks as he continues to do so.

For a moment, you begin to notice how hot his hands feel. Not sweaty but...heated. And...you can't help but also notice how when you feel him touch, a wave of electricity shoots through your veins.
This man...a devil and Angel, a wielder of light and darkness...is that what you feel? His powers pulsing through onto you?

If you continue to feel this, you might find yourself falling in love with him.
Though, would that be so bad?
With a final spin and dip as the song ends, people around the two of you begin to clap, though you ignore the cheers, your eyes remain locked on Lucifer's.

His hand raises to tuck a piece of your hair behind your ear delicately, chuckling softly.
"You make the most adorable sounds when you're bashful," he whispers against your ear.
You squeak a little, and he laughs. That is exactly what he meant.

But...he'd like to hear more...more noises one day in the future.

Off in the distance, Charlie sits and witnesses everything that happened between the two of you, and she squeals.

"Yessss!! Hahaha! Mission accomplished!"

Thanks for reading!
