(hey, you should listen to the music every chapter while reading... 🌟)
Now would be a good time to say 'First day of senior year!' but Taehyung had already been in school for a long time now and a better phrase would be 'Hundredth something day of school and college deadlines are closer than me and my nonexistent girlfriend slash boyfriend soon!' The brunette hesitated before opening the heavy door to his school, dreading today. Another day of pressure, another day of annoying teachers and another damn day of Jung Hoseok— and he had a calculus test... yaaay...
"Jesus, Tae you look like ass!" Jimin, Park Jimin his best friend since diapers— okay well maybe not that long, maybe like since fifth grade but he wanted to feel like he was starring in the 'Heathers', but same thing, they were still fetuses back then.
"Wow, thanks." The brunette responded, his sentence oozing with sarcasm.
"Guys!" Yerin ran up to them, breathing heavily, bending over to catch her breath. "I- you, did you study for the calculus quiz?!"
"Shit, no. Tae?"
"Of course I studied." Taehyung snapped at the other. The truth is, he did study, just- not well enough because he doesn't remember crap and he kinda absolutely despises calculus and his ass hat of a teacher.
"And of course is isn't open note..."
"Wait, what?" The brunette turned to his shorter friend. "W-what do you mean? I thought it was open note."
"Nope. Mr. Salem caught someone cheating and now he won't let us use our damn notes. Stupid ass head ass teacher bitch." Jimin swore like a sixth grader that thought he was cool but swore so much in his sentence that it didn't even make sense.
"Whatever, I can just ask for test answers. I have calc fourth period which meaaaaanssss, I get to go to lunch and share answers and then finish my test. Boom." Yerin thought of her mastermind plan out loud. "Bye nerds! I gotta help Ms. Parker with some grading thing or something, bye!" The dark haired girl jogged ahead of them, her shiny blackish hair bouncing behind her.
"And then there were two."
"Make that one." Taehyung sighed and walked ahead of Jimin, trying to get to class early to get more studying in. Of course, he was lucky enough to have it first thing in the morning. He didn't need to go to homeroom anyways.
—
"Okay. You get ten minutes to look over your notes. After you're done, I only want to see a pencil and graph paper on your desk. No talking or you fail your test and get lunch detention." Fun. Taehyung rolled his eyes at the teacher's stupid announcement. Yeah, yeah blah blah we talk we dead. He was just trying to focus on his notes. God why did he have to write everything all over the place.
"You have five minutes left."
Wait- god what? Fuck, five minutes already? Shit, shit, shit. Why is that number there? People looks so concentrated and confident- ugh Hoseok's notes look so tidy and- he's smiling. He knows he's going to pass.
"Notebooks away."
He had spent his last five minutes overthinking and glaring at Hoseok. Perfect.
Taehyung scribbled down an answer. First student to turn in their paper. Taehyung stared at the next question. Second student. Third. Fourth. Fifth. He looked around him. Everyone was wrapping up their tests. They all looked so confident. He quickly answered the next questions and turned in his test with shaky hands. He watched as some Jungkook dude got up and turned in his test with a small smile on his face. He probably passed. Same with Hoseok.
By the end of the period, they got their tests back- somehow. The paper was silently slid onto his desk.
Face fucking down.
That's when you know you got a low score. He slowly turned it over. C. a fucking C. His eyes watered, no, what the hell. Expectant valedictorian my ass. How are people just going to ignore a failed test? He wasn't supposed to have any slip ups. Hoseok walked over with a grin as bright as the sun. Oh how he wish he could slap that grin off of his face.
"How'd you do? I got a perfect score."
"Oh- um yeah I got a question wrong. I was half a point away."
"Hm. Bummer, good job though, see you in Orchestra." Hoseok didn't seem to feel any sympathy for the other- in fact he looked a little happy. Probably because his competition slipped up, even if it was half a point. Well, not exactly, but that's what he thought.
Taehyung waited for everyone to leave the classroom before he walked up to Mr. Bui. "Mister... I don't understand-"
"No you don't. Either you weren't paying attention to the lessons or you couldn't focus. Either way you got a low grade and you need to make up for that. I suggest a tutor if you need any assistance." A tutor?? Usually he was the one doing the tutoring.
"Can I do any extra credit work to bring up my grade?"
"No. You have to wait for the next test and let's hope you don't make anymore mistakes. You're excused Mr. Kim. (i'm so glad i caught this, i wrote 'mr. jeon')Get to class."
Taehyung yanked his backpack over his shoulder. Even Jimin got a high percentage. Same with Yiren and she didn't even follow through with her plan of cheating on her test. Jimin didn't even study. Stupid.
Taehyung threw his backpack on the chair next to him during lunch. Jimin or Yiren or any of his friends had a different lunch period as him which was just dandy. All butterflies and rainbows. Actually, he was almost grateful that they didn't see him like this. He wondered who would even tutor him. He was one of the smarter kids, it would be humiliating for someone to tutor him, and Hoseok was at the bottom of the list.
—
Taehyung wiped down a table as Jimin carried out some bowls with snacks in them to a table off to the side. The two were setting the event room up for bingo night while listening to some music through the speakers.
"With the taste of your lips I'm on a ride!"
"You're toxic I'm slippin' under."
"With a taste of a poisonous paradise!" The two turned to see who finished the next line. The raven haired boy known as Jungkook walked in with a smile.
"Hey, Jungkook!" Jimin smiles and waved. "What brings you here?" The short male took out a box of bingo chips from a storage cupboard.
"Oh, I came to see my grandma. She said to come help you two."
"I didn't know your grandma was a resident here!"
"I didn't know you two did volunteer work here. I usually only visit on Sundays." Ah, so that explains it. Taehyung only came to do volunteer work on Saturdays and sometimes Fridays.
"Oh well it's a pleasure seeing you here- ah shit, Tae I needa go, my cousins are coming over. You okay on your own?" Jimin quickly grabbed his coat.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. I'm sure I can control a couple senior citizens."
"Thanks, you're the best, love you! I'll take you to the mall tomorrow!" The male dashed out the door.
"So... Taehyung, right?" The raven haired boy sat up on the table and unpacked the boxes.
"Yeah- uh we have calc together? How'd the test go for you?" The brunette bit his lip. He know that Jungkook knew that he got a low score since he was a TA and most likely grader his paper.
"Passed it. Understood the stuff pretty well. Got an A-" He pulled his black hoodie off and tossed it towards Taehyung. "Hang that for me, will ya?"
"Y-yeah got it." The brunette hung the hoodie as his face burned. He walked over to Jungkook to help unpack the boxes.
"So... Bingo Ni-"
"Tutor me for calc. I'll pay you and stuff after I get allowance."
Jungkook let out an amused scoff.
"I don't want your money, silly."
Oh.
"My house after school, I'll even take you with me."
oH.
"Okay sounds good! Thanks so much you're a life saver." Taehyung basically whimpered as an elderly lady shuffled in, asking for the raven haired male.
"Don't sweat it, doll. Catch you Monday." He fucking winked.
hHHHWHSJJSD DOLL?! OMGOMHOMHKENMDKDKSKSMSMSM!!!!
Taehyung watched in silence as Jungkook walked out the door leaving him with his own gay thoughts, everyone in a ten mile radius probably had their gaydars going nuts.
