CHAPTER TWO

"I get that we are on the run but..." Peach ran with the boy that turned out to be half goat?

Tolas turned and looked at the young demigoddess. "But what?" It was obvious that he was long out of breath and perhaps completely exhausted of the girl.

The brunette girl held his shoulder taking a deep breath. "Can we bring my dog?" Her lips tuned down expecting him to out right tell her no. She knew they were being chased by monsters and all but she knew her pup needed, or was it that she needed him? Hmm.

"Sure." He said his curls bouncing off his shoulders as he nodded.

He was joking, right? Tolas was totally trying to play her like a fool. That's what Peach surely thought but why not try. "Really? My house is like 7 streets away." She was so prepared for the no and walking back home. The monsters could eat her if she couldn't have her dog.

Her feet twisted and she started to walk away.

"Hey wait up." The satyr sprinted after her. "We can take the dog if you're trying to leave for it."

It was a good five minutes before the two found their feet on the front lawn of Peach's lawn.

Freaking child of Demeter that's all that went through Tolas' mind following the girl, ironically enough named of a child of Demeter. Now maybe he didn't know for certain but if he was going to guess it would be Demeter. Peach looked just like Everdeen Brown hair that radiated a natural warmth with hints of red, eyes crystal water like color, and a heart of care. He'd say he called it.

"Creep!" The girl yelled, opening the door.

A Great Dane zoomed at the girl knocking the girl down completely. "Hey boy." She petted the pup sitting up and hugged him. "Hi Creeper, you're coming with us." Peach looked behind her. "Are you coming in?"

Tolas was utterly taken back, was that girl trying to get him attacked? "Oh, yeah." He waited till they moved out of the way. He found his way to the kitchen grabbing loads of snacks. "Peach, go to your room and get what it is you can't part with!" He had found a backpack in the closet tossing all the papers to the ground and shoving everything he could fit in there.

"We have to go now!"

The two tweens busted out the back door Creep barking and growling at the creature that came after them.

***

Peach was ready to pass out as every step began another round of running.

The winged beast seemed to reach them almost as soon as they stoped looking over their shoulder. They were lucky to have the hounds sharp ears with them growling when he thought it was getting too close.

"Run faster, they are almost there!"

The girl tried to go faster. "What's the point? You can't outrun the wind!" She laughed at herself. It was true. Her lungs lost all the breath that they contained, finding herself knocked down. Peach couldn't breathe in that moment and that was for the best.

Another loud bark was heard but only this time Creep was full of pure anger. The dog knocked the dodo bird look alike off the Demigod's back leaping at it. The angry dog bit off the wing of the harpy standing protectively over the Knox girl.

"Every time." The satyr said, pulling the girl up into his arms. Tolas could swear almost every time they brought the Demigods back they were always hurt or knocked out cold. "Thanks boy."

Creep growled at the monster one last time and trailed after the boy.

They passed the camps barrier in no time. The sound of victory bells ranged in Tolas' ears. They had found the least perfect time to come in.

Groups of Demigods wondering back from the surrounding woods.

Everdeen was the first one back with her axes hung louse in her hands. Her eyes widened at the scene before her Tolas holding a young girl and a dog dripping blood out of his mouth. Gross. Everdeen was stuck in between helping the demigod and satyr or finding any other place to look but the blood. "What happened?"

"Harpy." The boy said, stumbling under Peach's weight.

"I got 'er." Everdeen had tucked her axes away and now held the girl in her arms.

The short haired girl followed her brother in the hospital wing. "What is wrong with you!" She snapped at Blake. The girl was tired of the boy and they had both been hurt because of his stupidity.

"Mari we won." The boy defended.

"You got hurt." She shook her head. How could she show she cared without right saying so. "If we get hurt no winn..." She dragged in her words with a deep breath. "We weren't by the flag!"

That slip up made him smile.

"Don't you dare." She almost stormed out lost in her rage. Her care. Mari bumped into Everdeen on the way out.

The child of Demeter shifted slightly. "You mind?"

The daughter of Zeus dragged a bed closer, and Peach was laid down on it. Mari's glare was simply gone a small smile replacing it. The dog sat just beside his owner's bedside seeming to calm down, finally.
