『Chapter 39』
Dinner was served. Everyone was full. That white-coat wouldn't stop throwing his terrible pick-up lines to you. The night went on as you wished this all would be over.
After dessert, Jeremy told Ciel to take off his clothes so they could catch Phelps's killer. He also said that he couldn't move at all, and to not make any noise. The plan was to get Ran Mao in Ciel's clothes as bait.
"How much longer?" Bard groaned, glancing at the clock. "Who knows..." You stifled a yawn. A few minutes later, Jeremy came by the door.
"Excuse me. We have captured the culprit." Jeremy then revealed to everyone that the killer was a snake. And your hunch was right all along.

Alas, the moment you had been waiting for. The case was solved. Ciel threw a celebration for all the ruckus. To brief up, Karl Woodley was arrested. The killer snake was illegal. As Arthur said, importing poisonous snakes was illegal, and that had been able to get it here means the person would have to have close connections with an African business. Woodley was the first suspect of the killer.
Ciel revealed Woodley's motive: a top-secret plan for a major company in the diamond industry and Ciel's company, Funtom Corporation, that acquired the leading technology was to cooperate. Woodley was planning to kill Ciel to save his company. Thus, Ciel ordered Charles to arrest Woodley.
"I suppose this means the case is closed," Ciel announced. The guests were busy with him. "Oh yeah, what was that red liquid anyway?" Finny suddenly spoke, which made Meyrin gasp since she was the first one who brought that up.
"Ah yes, we haven't talked about that." Jeremy clasped his hands. He pulled out a bottle from his coat, the bottle they believed filled with the red liquid Meyrin talked about.
"Oh my..." Irene sighed. She explained that it was just an anti-aging drink. She used to keep herself young so she could be with her lover longer time.
"So that's it..." the three servants sighed in relief. You gave out a slight laugh at them. "Oh come on, you've done worse." You laughed. "Yeah yeah, you're just lucky." Bard pushed you playfully.
"Well then, why don't we celebrate the case end with a toast?" Jeremy announced as he then poured the liquid for all of us. Meyrin kept apologizing to Irene for what she expected.
"Care for a drink, my lady?" Jeremy approached you. You gave him a look as he offered you a glass.
"Well then, here's for the case. Cheers!" Arthur raised his glass, followed by everyone else. As every other guest crowded with Ciel, you servants made a circle of your own.
"So, what now?" Finny asked. You gulped down the drink. "What do you mean what now? We solved the case, isn't this what you wanted?" You spoke up, patting him in the back. "Yeah, I mean. Things will be different. Sebastian isn't here with us anymore." Finny added. You pitied these fellas. How loyal they were to Sebastian while Sebastian himself was hiding his true identity.
"I think... just the five of us. It... It won't be the same." Finny pouted. You put a hand on his shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "No... It won't. But it is what it is. Sebastian is gone. We have to move on. We can't let someone's death... affects our lives forever." You bit your lips on saying those words. Now you wondered why you gave him a talk like that while you couldn't even move on.
"Yeah...He was the one who rescued us from our past situation. We had no house, no hope, no family. But he picked us up, took us under his wings." Meyrin stated, looking down at her glass. "He stopped me from killing the innocent." She added.
"He taught us everything. He rescued us. All of us." Bard continued. Somehow their words made you smile. You felt comfortable with them for they went on the same thing.
"He meant that much for you guys?" You muttered, they all replied with a nod. You admired them. Their loyalty. It wasn't every day you had people like them. These guys were rare. And you call yourself lucky to be their friend.
You pursed your lips, staring at the drink in your hand. "I guess he saved me too..." You whispered, glancing at Sebastian on the other side of the room. He chuckled at the guests he was converting with, but his eyes met yours for a moment, sending you a smile.
"Speaking of... how did Sebastian find you? I mean... we all came from a certain background. What's yours?" With that question she asked, the three of them looked at you, seeking answers. You stayed silent for quite a while, thinking about what should you say.
"I... I'm not sure how to say it.." You looked down, doubting. "I..." You trailed off. You bit your bottom lips and were very uncomfortable with this. You moved back and forth, trying to calm down. Flashes of memories passed your mind as you took a deep breath. "Have you heard of the rumors of the bandit that ran around London?"
Finny was first to react. "That was you?!" You shrugged playfully. "Yeah... I didn't steal anything too major. Sometimes I gave away the rations I stole to the people who needed them more than me. I struggled in the London streets, but I built myself up." You admitted, expecting to hear any disappointment. But nothing. You looked up to see them smiling. "You're a Robin Hood." Bard pointed out. "No... Well... I heard people call me that before but I don't know. It felt so wrong knowing how my character is." Whatever that was, they didn't mind who you were in the past. You laughed along with them as you went on telling stories you shared.
"Sebastian... I'll miss you." Finny smiled to himself. "I heard that you lost someone important, but we are celebrating here. So please, put a little smile on your face." Jeremy cut through, raising his glass.

The next morning, the storm had finally stopped. Everyone packed up and started to leave. On the last carriage was Arthur. Sebastian, still in his disguise, knocked on his carriage and said something that made Arthur frightened. The carriage started to leave.
"Well, I suppose that's the cue. Let's head back before he does." Ciel gestured for you two to follow him. You enjoyed the smell of after rain before you tagged along with him. "How are you going to work this out, exactly?"
As you entered the mansion, Arthur bashed the front door open. "Oh, he actually came." You muttered under your breath. Jeremy- or rather Sebastian now, he plastered a smirk, turning back to the young man. "Why so flustered? You did not forget anything, did you?"
Arthur took in a breath, "I came to confirm the truth, Pastor Jeremy- no... Butler Sebastian!" Sebastian grinned, turning to him. "Turns out we underestimated you after all," You spoke up as Sebastian ripped off his fake face, revealing his true self.
"We can talk this out but not here. Sebastian," Ciel ordered, walking up the stairs. Sebastian acknowledged his request. "In the meantime, Y/n. Keep the other off the garden. They're not ready to see him yet." Ciel turned to you. You nodded in reply, "As you wish."
>>>
You killed your time by taking care of the garden, watering the bushes, and all as you waited for Ciel to finish his meeting with the author. You heard a scream from the glasshouse where the conversation was taking place. You noticed the house was somehow filling with a dark aura, knowing what that was, you continued your work.
You put down the can and walked towards the house, seeing Arthur stunning his way out, fear filling his eyes. He spotted you there, "Y-you! You know this too?"
You curved your lips, acknowledging him. "Why, of course. For I'm half of what he is." You spoke up, frightening him. He looked scared to death, running away from you and from the manor. You honestly felt pity for the man, but Ciel ordered.
You sighed, making your way to the glasshouse. "Could've done another thing besides scaring him to death? Like, give him a warning or something?" You said, stepping into the house. Sebastian was first to welcome you. "Let him be," Ciel said, placing his cheek on his palm.
"So it's finally over?" You spoke up, leaning on the empty chair across Ciel. "Wait. Sebastian, what about Phelps' murder? Y/n assumed it was snake bites on his neck." Ciel asked away. You perked up, wanting to know about the subject as well.
"Ah, right. Yes, Y/n is right. There is an uninvited guest here." Sebastian said, Ciel jumped in surprise. Sebastian motioned you to move away as he then pulled out a chained-up crate under the table. He unchained the box and opened it. In a blink of an eye, a couple of snakes jumped out to you as you gasped shortly, taking a step back. Sebastian caught them, inches away from your face. He put them away as the crate revealed a man, bonded in ropes.
"The true culprit behind Mr. Phelps murder."
"Snake?!" Ciel questioned. Snake was indeed the one who was tied up. His mouth was muffled, a snake slithered around his head. You felt pity and immediately moved on your own, releasing his muffler. Sebastian did not stop you, knowing how much the circus incident shook you.
"Wait, Y/n." Ciel held you. You looked back at him, wanting to say a word against him. However, he started at you sternly, even making you obey him. You bowed your head, moving away.
Ciel confronted Snake who kept shouting at him. Snake then said that he craved revenge on Smile because he caused the disappearance of the rest of the first tier members, who treated him like family. "You took them away from me!! I won't forgive you!!... Says Wilde."
You felt like you wanted to puke. You know how many you tried, you couldn't get past the incident. You stared at Snake, feeling nothing but guilt. Sebastian took your hand slowly, giving you a reassuring pressure.
"I know what I did. But I also want to save the children who were suffering from their actions." Said Ciel in a convincing tone. "And I want to save you too," Ciel added. He then walked closer to Snake and untie him. He gave him a hand and offered him to come to his manor.
"What are you saying?!....says Keats," Snake said as moved away from him.
"As I said, I want to save you. We're still looking for Joker and the others." Ciel offered him his hand. Even Sebastian wasn't expecting his words. He continued to say good things about the circus to convince him to stay. Snake agreed and finally took his hand.
Ciel nodded to him, helping him on his feet. He told Snake to make himself comfortable with his new home. As he walked away, you approached Snake.
>>>
It was Sebastian's 'funeral'. The three servants wouldn't stop crying. There were also Agni, Soma, and Elizabeth, who also did not stop crying. You stood silently behind them, though they expected you to be the one who grieved the most. The boys finished burying him and they started to give him a few words. Bard went on first followed by the other servants. When they were about to leave, the bell on Sebastian's grave rang suddenly. Everyone was surprised and got their heads up.
"If the bell rings, he might still be alive, you know." The Undertaker grinned, leaning on his shovel. The servants began to dig his grave. When they reached the casket, they fished it out.
"Right, let's open it!" Bard was too eager to open his casket. The casket opened and Sebastian sat up.
"Ah, I'm finally out of there... everyone-" Sebastian came out and was immediately stomped by them before he even finished his words. All of them hugged him and cried for him. The way they said they missed him, you couldn't help to let out a laugh.
"Mr. Sebastian. I'm so glad." Meyrin cried, banking his coat. Sebastian sighed as he took it all with ease.
>>>
"Did you miss me, kitten?" Said Sebastian who was behind you. "Oh, dearly!" You exaggerated your words sarcastically. He let out a chuckle, grabbing your hand. He twirled you to him, locking you in his arms. He caressed your cheek as he kissed you passionately.
You pulled away before anyone else could see. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. I'm just glad this is all over."
