Aurelia sat in her room, the afternoon sun casting a warm glow through her window. She absentmindedly scrolled through Instagram, still reeling from what she had seen the day before. Walker's live stream with Emma replayed in her mind like a broken record.
She hesitated for a moment, then clicked on Walker's live video. The screen lit up with familiar faces—Walker and Emma, both laughing as they chatted with viewers. Comments scrolled rapidly, many asking about Aurelia and Walker.
"Hey, everyone!" Walker greeted cheerfully, glancing at the comments. "Just to clear things up, Aurelia and I are good. We've always been just friends. And Emma and I? Definitely not dating."
Aurelia's heart sank as she watched, feeling like an outsider in her own life. She didn't comment or react; she simply observed, her mind racing with unanswered questions. Why did his words sting so much? Was it because she secretly hoped for something more?
As the live stream continued, Aurelia closed the app with a sigh. She tossed her phone onto her bed and leaned back, staring up at the ceiling. The weight of disappointment settled heavily in her chest. She had never expected Walker to declare his feelings publicly, but his nonchalant dismissal of their friendship left her feeling hurt and confused.
Later that evening, Anastasia called to check in. "Hey, Lia," she said gently. "I saw Walker's live. How are you holding up?"
Aurelia sighed. "I don't know, Ana. It just... sucked, you know? I thought we were closer than that."
Anastasia listened quietly, offering words of comfort and understanding. "Maybe he didn't mean it the way it sounded," she suggested. "Walker can be clueless sometimes."
"Yeah, maybe," Aurelia replied, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
They talked for a while longer, Anastasia reminding Aurelia that her worth wasn't defined by someone else's words or actions. "You deserve someone who sees how amazing you are," Anastasia assured her.
Aurelia nodded silently, grateful for her friend's support. As they said goodbye, Aurelia knew she needed time to process everything. Walker's live had brought to light feelings she hadn't fully acknowledged before—feelings that now demanded her attention.
