The next morning I barely make it to school on time thanks to the lack of sleep. "You okay there Cheer mom?" Zed chuckles, "It was a long night," I huff as I pull on the sleeves of my long cream colored cardigan. "We can tell, you look like you slept in those clothes," Addison snorts, "Wrong, I only slept in the cardigan and shirt. The pants and shoes are new, give me some credit my dear I'm not that much of a mess." I snip spinning to face her with a stern look.
"Of course, Of course!" she smirks holding her hands up in mock surrender. I roll my eyes, "Hello, Eliza." I announce. I hear Eliza sigh from behind me, "I never know how you do that." She grumbles. "It's one of my many gifts, but to put it simply your presence is impossible miss." I smirk smugly. "Whatever you say witch doctor. " She snorts, "Speaking of witch doctor! Could you help me with this one Chem question?" Addison begs.
Ahh yes, While I may be good at hiding my nature some things just stick out too much for me to hide. Like my natural talent for Chemistry and anatomy, Thankfully everyone simply passes it off as genes from my father...The head doctor at Seabrook hospital.
"I don't see why not, Let's see that question." I smile, Addison opens her notebook and shows me the question. Zed and Eliza make idle chatter as I carefully explain the question and answer to Addison. "ADDISON! (Y/N)! TIME TO OFFICALLY NOMINATE ME AS PRESIDENT!" Bucky calls from across the bridge walk. I plaster a fake smile on my face and gave him a thumbs up until he left, "I'd rather be sacrificed," I comment. "The man can barely keep a cheer team intact, there's no way that man child can run a whole school." I scoff, "Leave it to my girl (y/n) to drag corrupt oppressors." Eliza smirks. "Anything for you my dear," I muse.
"uhh Addison?" A voice calls, "Sweet gods have mercy," I moan quietly. "Once we're cheer captain your so off the team." Lacy threatens. I felt my blood boil, "And what makes you sure that will happen?" I snarl, "Wait a better question! What makes you so sure I'll allow you that position in the first place?" I snap. "(y/n)! Hi! Wow! you look super uh...cute today!" Lacy panics, "Yeah! Like super cute!" Tracy agrees. I cross my arms and glare at them silently, "Well, when I'm cheer captain your welcome to stay. Because I'll be making cheer about bring people together." Addison quips.
"See this is EXACTLY why she has my vote!" I point out. "Ha she has awful trash talk." Tracy muses, "I can more than make up for it for her?" I challenge. The two girls yelp before scurrying off, I let out a tired sigh before flicking my hair over my shoulder. "Ta ta my dears. So much to do! so little time!" I call to the two Zombies as I take Addison by her arm and lead her off.
I drop Addison off at the meet up spot before making my way to the air vent. "I can't be here to unlock you when you need to come out but I'm going to unlock it now so all you have to do is push it open. An assembly is about to start, please! Please for the love of the gods be discreet with whatever you decide to do." I whisper in before unlocking the door and running off.
I look up at the principal with a pained expression as she tries to connect with the younger generation. By some form of twisted luck Bucky makes his entrance, I cross my arms and watch him with an unamused expression. I scoff as he fakes out the principle in a high five, "Great news, we have a brilliant and cheer tested candidate running for president this year," He grins.
"Here we go," I groan, "ME!" He cheers in delight. I rub a hand over my face as I watch disaster unfold in front of me as the gym starts to chant his name. I can practically feel his head grow bigger with each chant of his name.
I gasp as a person comes rolling down the bleachers, instincts kick in and I'm rushing over to them. When they stop rolling I lean over them to take a look, "Oh it's only you," I scoff at Zed. Zed jumps to his feat and lets out a cheer, I roll my eyes before making my way back down the to the crowd. "Zed can't steal my spot light! What about the whole anti-monster thing!" Bucky huffs, "That only applies to public laws you half-witt! This is school politics there for school law states anyone can run!" I snap throwing my hands in the air. Bucky flinches at my aggressive tones and motions, "She's actually quite right Mr. Bucky," The principle agrees, "although I do not approve of the name calling," She scolds before shuffling off the stage. I shrug completely brushing her off.
"A Zombie President! EW!" Stacy wines, I let out a loud groan "I do NOT like dealing with politics," I grunt. Addison sent me a small smile as I watch Zed take the stage. "If you vote for me I will bring you prosperity and Awesomeness!" He announces, "WOW! I'm sold," I snort sarcastically. However I go completely unnoticed as the whole gym starts to chant his name.
I listen to Zed make his speech but my mind wonders a little. I glance to the side to still see Addison here, subtly I look around the gym. Not a werewolf in sight until I see the gym doors, "Gods!" I curse hushly as I push through the crowd as they surround the door. "Werewolves!" I hear a yelp, I feel my blood run cold as I snap my head back to Bree who sat pointing to the doors.
"Gods, Gods, Gods," I chant as I push my way through the crowd quicker. I flitch as I hear Zed scream at them. The crowd I'm pushing is abruptly pushing me back and I fall to the floor. All around me is rushing sets of legs and the sounds of growling and screams. Stress and anxiety bubble up quickly as Chaos runs thick in the air, it suffocates me and in turn I lose my grip on the world around me. I shut my eyes and hold on for as long as I can, until I couldn't
"QUIET!" I scream, a burst of magic waves off my body and the whole gym goes quiet. I take a few deep breaths before opening my eyes, around me is a giant patch of grass with thorn bushes circling around me. I take a few more deep breaths and slowly the thorns sink back into the ground nowhere to be found after.
"(y/n), come here," A soft voice whispers, looking up I'm met with soft worried brown eyes. Wyatt holds his hands out patiently for me to take them. Slowly I do, a lingering fear I might hurt him if I move too fast. Wyatt lifts me from the ground and slowly leads me over to the pack of wolves. Looking forward at the people in front of me I spot Zed and Eliza looking me in shock from the stage, below them is Addison surrounded by the football team. While Addison seems simply amazed the boys around her look completely and utterly terrified.
I felt my chest pinch in guilt and fear, I couldn't help but look around. Faces of that same scared emotion is smeared across everyone. I duck my head down and shift behind Wyatt for cover. "Where's the moonstone white hair?" Willa questions, "I think you have the wrong person," Addison answers.
My gaze shifts to the sudden movements on stage, Eliza and Zed talking to one another but a shot of fear runs down my spine as the Zombie girl gestures to her Z-band. I flick my wrist and hold it in the air, the action causes Eliza's hand to dangle in the air and screams to erupt from the crowd. Eliza looks confused as she looks from her hanging wrist to me, "Please don't, we don't need anymore chaos. No one will get hurt, so please." I beg. Eliza slowly nod her head and I let go of the hold I had on her. I watch her play with her wrist with a puzzled expression itched onto her face.
"Our razor sharp claws will gutt'em and splatter their blood" Wynter snarls, my eyes widen and I turn to her. "Too much?" She questions meekly, "Very," I confirm. "Wolves! On my Command!" Willa announces, and at her cue all but Wyatt prepare themselves with glowing eyes and stones. "DON'T YOU DARE!" I command sharply, my voice has the whole room flitch. "Willa we can't go to war with the whole town. We'll never find the moonstone if they're on high alert." Wyatt reasons. "Far too late for that my love, but he has a point." I comment to the two of them.
"I hate it when your right," Willa grunts, "and don't you command me to do anything," Willa snarls at me. I quirk my eyebrow at her, "Should you choose to be wise rather than rash I won't," I snap. "Wolves stand down," Willa calls to her pack. The air relaxes somewhat after, but it's still unbearably thick.
The air is still for a moment before Willa takes a quick glance at me. "Sorry, we werewolves so admire your town, and we just came her to join your school," Willa spoke politely as she glances at me every few words. I nod my head in encouragement to both Willa and the students in front of me.
Sounds of confusion runs all around the gym and I muster up my best smile. "What! They can't join our school!" Bucky scoffs, I felt irritation bubble inside me. It must have showed because Wyatt is placing a hand on my hip and giving it a comforting squeeze, by some blessing of the gods I feel it simmer down and I relax slightly.
"TECHNCIALLY," I call out spitefully, "The forbidden forest is apart of the school district," I educate. "Of course you would side with those monsters! What even are you!" Bucky hisses, I felt my heart drop into my chest. "A Witch," I answer softly, but I soon realize they probably couldn't hear me. So I clear my throat and answer again, "I am a Witch." I spoke more clearly.
"Well whatever you are is fine with me!" Addison smiles from behind the football players. "Also, Welcome to Seabrook!" She cheers before pushing her way through the football players. The wolves around me give and awkward laugh.
School ended early after the development. Everyone was sent home early however I manage to convince Willa to let me go home with her to help fill out the school application forms. She rejected me of course, until after she saw all the extensive questions she didn't understand on them.
So here I sit on the floor of the cave away from all the rowdy werepups who kept asking me to show them magic, with a clip board and a pen in hand as I fill out yet another werewolf's form. Wyatt sits next to me doing the same thing, he's one of the few who offered to learn the information in order to help me fill them out.
"Hey," Wyatt calls, I hum in response as I check a box to yet another question. "Why didn't they know?" He asks softly, the question sends a jolt of shock down my spine and causes me to drop my pen. "Well..." I mumble, "I remember how the Zombies had it hard, they still do. Addison use to wear a wig to cover up her hair and I seeing what all she goes through now...it all kind of makes me scared." I mumble.
Glancing over at Wyatt his eyebrows are knitted together in confusion. "I don't understand why you would be scared, your this amazing powerful Witch that can literally see the future! Why would you want to hide that just because your scared?" He questions. "I'm scared for so many reasons I probably couldn't list them all," I scoff. "Really? Try me." He challenges.
I shot him annoyed glare but he continued to sit there patiently, "I'm...scared of my powers and what may happen if I lose control like I did today. I'm scared that I'll never be accepted and I'll be alone for the rest of my life! And what I'm scared of most of all...Is being a monster." I huff.
"What's wrong with being a monster?" Wyatt scoffs, "All my life I've never been told that's what I am. I've been told this is a gift, it's pure and untainted magic. Those who taint their gift with darkness are monsters. I was taught to never to taint my gift, because to be a Monster is the worst thing that could happen to someone with gifts like me." I explain. I play with my hands as I recall all my lessons, I recall all the fear that was pushed onto me about tainting my gifts.
"There's nothing wrong with the darkness you know, I mean look at me." He chuckles with a smug smirk. "Plus don't you have connections with the afterlife? If you ask me that pretty much the darkness. Anyone normal thinks anything to do with the afterlife is taboo or darkness. So if you really think about it you've already tainted your gift, and as far as I see your doing just fine." He grins.
"Maybe," I shrug, "That doesn't mean I can control it." I scoff. "Why would you! Look at me! I'm stronger when I don't force myself to control what I am! Why don't you do the same!" He snaps standing to his feet. "Your afraid of not being accepted! Why would you want to be accepted when you can be an outcast and say whatever you want without a care in the world! Your scared of your powers! Why would you be want to be scared of your powers when you can just let go and accept them in order to be more powerful! Why would you be scared of being a monster when being a monster makes you feel more like yourself than anything else you've ever felt!" He rants pacing back and forth with every argument he made.
"I want to see you be Brave (y/n)! Be brave enough to be powerful, be brave enough to accept your powers, and brave enough to accept yourself." He calls.
"You can be amazing, You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug. You can be the outcast Or be the backlash of somebody's lack of love." He sings with a small smile. "Or you can start speaking up." he calls as he holds his hands out to me.
"Nothing's gonna hurt you the way that words do And they settle 'neath your skin. Kept on the inside and no sunlight. Sometimes a shadow wins." he sings pulling me up to my feet when I place my hands in his. "But I wonder what would happen if you Say what you wanna say, And let the words fall out. Honestly I wanna see you be brave" He sings as he pulls me to the middle of the den.
"With what you want to say And let the words fall out. Honestly I wanna see you be brave," He sings again as he spins me in a circle. "I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you." I chant along with him, What flashes me a boyish grin "I wanna see you be brave" He finishes.
"I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you" I chant again, "I wanna see you be brave" he calls in return. "Everybody's been there, Everybody's been stared down, by the enemy. Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing. Bow down to the mighty." He sings, I watch him circle me with a small smile. "Don't run, stop holding your tongue. Maybe there's a way out of the cage where you live. Maybe one of these days you can let the light in." He continues until he stops in front of me, "Show me how big your brave is" He calls.
"Say what you wanna say, And let the words fall out. Honestly I wanna see you be brave" He sings taking my hands in his and pulling them close to his chest. "With what you want to say And let the words fall out, Honestly I wanna see you be brave." I sing in return, Wyatt's smile beams across his face at the sound of my voice.
"Innocence, your history of silence. Won't do you any good, Did you think it would? Let your words be anything but empty. Why don't you tell them the truth?" He calls bouncing along with the melody. "Say what you wanna say, And let the words fall out. Honestly I wanna see you be brave." I sing to him, Wyatt grins like a mad man as he pulls me around the den in a dance.
"With what you want to say, And let the words fall out. Honestly I wanna see you be brave!" We chorus together. "I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you," I chant, "I wanna see you be brave," Wyatt responds.
"I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you" Wyatt chants. "See you be brave" I sing back. "I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you" We sing as Wyatt slowly spins us in a circle. "I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you, I just wanna see you" We finish softly.
Wyatt grins down at me with the largest smile I've ever seen. Before I could register any movement he picks me up and spins us around. I squeal as he laughs wildly, "It's good to see she's finally accepted it." A voice calls. Looking down on us from the top of the stairs is Willa, "Now that all the self doubt is out of the way, I'm excited to see that plane jane look go." She smirks. A pout forms on my lips, "It wasn't that bad was it?" I ask Wyatt, the boy goes stiff and looks the other direction.
I let out a huff before looking at Willa, "Well what would you have in mind?" I question. A wolfish grin spreads across her lips, "I was hoping you'd ask." She purrs oddly. "lets get you to my room," She calls waving for me to follow her.
