Chapter Six // The Other Broken Half

You deserve an a thousand word chapter. I'm so sorry I kept you waiting ❤️

Johnny's POV
"Guys, let's play a game," Two said, taking a deck of cards from his pocket.

"Well alright, what's it be?" Steve asked.

"First, everyone sit down on the ground now and I'll talk."

Pony looked over at me and smirked. He went to the floor with the rest of the boys as I did too, but I was still watching the movie.

"Alri-Johnny, come closer." I scooted closer to Ponyboy's left.

"Right, now, I got a deck of cards, there are two kinds of cards, truth and dare, got it?" We all nodded.

"You pick one card and dare or make the person tell the truth based on what the card says, understand?" We all nodded again. "Pony, you go first,"

Pony picked a card that said truth. "Alright Two, you ever kissed a girl?" We all stared.

"Yea," Pony went wide eyed. I wasn't surprised at all.

"Really? Who?!" Steve shouted.

"A blonde... at the drive in." We then all frowned.

"Oh, well, of course." Soda sighed.

"Okay Steve, your turn," Two said.

"O-okay," Steve grabbed a truth card and turned his head to me. "Johnny, why do you always stare at Ponyboy?"

I felt red and like my life was about to end. "These aren't the questions on the card-"

"Just tell us, it's a game,"

I shook my head. "I just.. Steve why do you-"

"It's okay Johnny, you can skip that one." Two said. He's onto something.

Ponyboy's POV
"Your turn Johnny," he picked up a truth card and looked at me.

"Ponyboy, you ever had a crush on the same gender?" my face burned, staring at the ground.

"Well, honestly... I haven't figured it out yet." I spoke fearfully.

"Whadya mean you haven't figured it out yet?" Two-Bit asked.

"Yea Ponyboy, tell us more." Steve added.

I shook my head.

"Guys leave him alone, he doesn't wanna share, he doesn't have to share." Soda exclaimed. "Right Johnny?" he asked.

"Yea guys, please don't overwhelm him." Johnny said.

"So you're tellin' me, you have no clue? You haven't figured it out yet?" Steve asked.

"No... I actually have." he caught me glancing at Johnny, snapping his fingers in front of me. The boys looked at me as my cheeks flushed, knowing that Johnny was also looking.

"Your turn Soda," Soda picked up a dare card.

"Time to move onto the dares,"

-

"Two, I dare ya to go outside and throw a rock at someone's car."

He nodded excitedly. "Alright,"

Sure enough, he ran outside and threw a large pebble at someone's Ford. He screamed and ran back inside as we all chuckled at him.

Maniac.

"There, okay, your turn Johnny," Two-Bit pointed out.

"M-my turn?"

"Yes Johnny," I say, scooting a hand close to his.

"O-okay," he picked up a dare card and clicked his tongue, aiming at my brother. "Soda,"

He faced Johnny completely. "Huh?"

Johnny grinned. "I dare you to get Steve red." Soda was already blushing.

"That's easy," Two-Bit said and laughed.

"Steve," he looked over as he placed his lips against Steve's, getting not only himself blushing but Steve as red as a tomato. Soda backed away after a few seconds and ran off to his room with Steve following behind.

"Alright, well now that it's settled," Two stated as he grabbed a card.

"Johnny, I dare you to get Ponyboy red this time," I just choked on my own spit.

"Umm.. h-how will I do that?" Johnny asked all nervous. Johnny gets me red when he looks at the ground!

"Just do whatever it takes to get him red!" Two-Bit demanded.

Soda and Steve came back to the living room, sitting down.

"P-ponyboy, Y-you okay with this?" he asked me. Gosh he's so cute when he's nervous. I didnt know what to do because I wanted him to kiss me and then because the gang was there, I couldn't. But whatever, it's just a dare.

I slightly nodded and grinned reassuringly.

"Johnny, there's no problem with this, it's just a dare," he leaned in, I could almost feel his lips, though he backed away blushing as I did to.

"Guys can we play a different game? Please?" Johnny pleaded. I was so close. So. Close.

Johnny's POV
I really, really badly wanted to kiss Ponyboy, but I didnt want be judged by it because of how long it was or because of our blushing or whatever. And even if I had kissed him right there on the spot with the gang watching, the teasing could worsen.

"What other game is there Johnny?" Two asked.

"Well let's see, there's hide and seek, the Two-Bit game, uh-" Pony said.

"What's the Two-Bit game?"

"Where you have to be quiet for a solid hour," he responded.

"Impossible," Two argued.

"Exactly, wanna play?" I asked.

"Uh-"

"Great, let's start,"

"Johnny,"

I looked over. "Y-yea?"

He grinned. "You alright there?" I nodded.

"Alright, it begins... now." Pony said.

I had no idea what to do, so I just kept watching tv.

"I'm not playin', screw this game." Steve said, running out the door.

"Oh wow, for once, Soda actually stayed put after his Stevie got up." Two said, holding in laughter. I was grinning at Ponyboy.

"You're done," Pony said.

"Aw man!" Two-Bit slapped his knee.

"I knew you were gonna lose anyway, you couldn't last a minute."

"So you won?" Two asked.

"Basically." Pony looked down, leaving Two-Bit with a sigh.

"Well alright Ponyboy, I'm gonna leave now,"

"Darry can't know about this or he'll make us reget we did." Ponyboy mumbled.

Just then, Two-Bit flicked my head before leaving and I swatted his hand away again. Two chuckled. "Got it, bye guys." he said and walked out the door.

"Soda?"

"Sodapop,"

"Steve?" I asked as Soda widened his eyes and looked up. "

"Got you there," we laughed again.

"Cut it out Ponyboy," he was angry, I could tell.

"Soda, you can talk to me if you want," He shook his head.

"It's hard to talk to you when not even Two-Bit can take me seriously."

Ponyboy had a frown on his face. "Oh, alright." Soda left for the door.

"Well he's gone now, I guess we can-"

"Watch the movie ourselves?"

He nodded and smiled. "Yea, let's go up to the couch Johnnycake,"

I follow Ponyboy to the couch as we sit watching the end of 101 Dalmatians.

"Peter pan's on," Pony said. I nodded and moved closer to him. I could almost feel his fingers interlock with mine. He stroked my wrist, making me blush.

"You like this movie Johnnycake?"

"Sure Pony,"

He smiled and laid his head very close to mine, I felt so comfortable.

"What time is it Ponyboy?"

He bended and took a look over at the clock in the kitchen. "It's 8:30ish, you still wanna stay up a little bit longer?"

I nodded. "Y-yea sure," I found it so peculiar that the movie was talking about a boy who never grew up and had other friends who never matured, it reminded me of the gang.

I honestly thought that we never like to be so mature and act our age because we're kids.

We are indeed lost boys who always lose their way, lost boys who can't grow up to be smarter.

And boys who think there's always a chance at a better life than the one they have. We are always by ourselves and love to be obnoxious and immature, it's such a baffling thought to me.

Did you get triggered ? XD
