It was a sunny afternoon when Aurelie and her mom, Jackie, decided to spend the day together.

After weeks of busy schedules and endless filming commitments, they finally had time for a mother-daughter date.

Aurelie was grateful for the break, and the two decided to head to their favorite café downtown. The streets were busy, but the café was a quiet retreat with its warm lighting and cozy atmosphere.

As they sipped their lattes and nibbled on pastries, Jackie smiled warmly at her daughter. "It's nice to have you home, Aurel. I've missed our little dates."

Aurelie returned the smile. "I missed them too. It's been crazy with filming and press  and everything. I feel like I've barely had a chance to breathe."

Jackie nodded, giving her daughter's hand a gentle squeeze. "You've been working so hard. I'm proud of you."

Just as they were enjoying the moment, Aurelie heard a familiar voice from behind.

"Aurelie? Jackie?"

She turned and saw Heather, Walker's mom, and Tanner, Walker's younger brother, approaching their table.

Aurelie's heart skipped a beat. It had been a while since she last saw Heather and Tanner, and the sight of them instantly brought back memories of her time with Walker.

Heather smiled brightly as she and Tanner walked over. "It's been too long! How are you both?"

Aurelie stood to greet them, exchanging a quick hug with Heather and Tanner. "Hey! It's good to see you," she said, trying to hide the nervous flutter in her stomach.

Jackie smiled, standing up to hug Heather as well. "It has been too long! How are you, Heather?"

Heather beamed, "We're doing well, just keeping busy. Leena's off on her senior trip, so the house has been a bit quieter without her."

Aurelie smiled at the mention of Leena. She had always gotten along well with Walker's sister, and hearing about her trip sparked some nostalgia. "How's she doing? I bet she's having a blast."

Tanner grinned, clearly proud of his sister. "She's loving it. She's been sending us pictures every day—of the beaches, museums, everything. She'll be back next week."

Jackie and Heather exchanged a few more pleasantries, catching up on family life, while Aurelie glanced at Tanner.

She remembered all the times she and Walker had hung out with him, taking him to the movies or playing video games. Being around him now felt bittersweet.

"So, how's filming been going for you, Aurelie?" Heather asked, her tone as warm as ever.

Aurelie hesitated for a moment, quickly gathering herself. "It's been good. We're wrapping up some press stuff for The necklace the premier is in like what 4 days and you know trying to get everything done before we film  Percy Jackson. It's been... a lot, but I'm excited."

Tanner, always full of energy, added, "oh I saw the necklace trailer it's so cool ! Oh and the teaser for Percy. It looks so cool! Walker—"

He stopped abruptly, glancing at Heather, as if realizing too late that he had brought up Walker's name.

There was an awkward pause, but Aurelie kept her expression steady, even though hearing Walker's name felt like a small sting.

"Thanks," Aurelie said, keeping her tone light. "I can't wait for everyone to see it."

Heather, noticing the slight tension, quickly steered the conversation back. "Well, it's wonderful to see you both. We should catch up more often."

Jackie smiled warmly, agreeing, "Absolutely. Let's plan something soon."

After Heather and Tanner left, the café fell back into its quiet hum, but Aurelie's mind was far from at peace.

She swirled her coffee absently, staring into the cup as if the answers she was looking for might appear at the bottom. Jackie, sensing her daughter's distraction, leaned forward, waiting for her to speak.

Finally, Aurelie broke the silence. "Mom, can I ask you something?"

Jackie nodded, her eyes soft with understanding. "Of course, Aurel. What's on your mind?"

Aurelie hesitated, her fingers playing with the edges of her sleeve. She didn't know how to phrase it, or even if she should bring it up. But the sight of Walker's family had stirred something in her that she couldn't ignore anymore.

"I... I still like him," Aurelie said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Jackie stayed silent, letting Aurelie find her words.

"I thought after the breakup, it would get easier. I thought I'd be able to move on, especially with how busy everything's been." She paused, glancing out the window as if she could see all the memories of her and Walker playing out on the streets outside. "But I still care about him, Mom. A lot. And seeing his mom and Tanner today... it just made me realize how much I miss him."

Jackie took a deep breath, giving her daughter the space to continue.

"I know we broke up for a reason, and it hasn't even been that long. But I've been thinking..." Aurelie's voice wavered, and she turned to meet her mom's eyes. "Would you be mad if... if we tried again? If I gave it another chance?"

Jackie's face softened even more, and she reached across the table, placing her hand over Aurelie's. "Aurel, I could never be mad at you for following your heart. I want you to be happy. And if Walker makes you happy, if you believe in your heart that giving it another try is what you want, then I'll support you."

Aurelie blinked, feeling a rush of emotion at her mom's words. "I'm just scared, you know? What if it goes wrong again?"

Jackie squeezed her hand gently. "There's always a risk when you open your heart to someone. But you're strong, Aurelie. You know yourself, and you know Walker. If you both feel there's something worth saving, then it's worth a try."

Aurelie bit her lip, her emotions a jumble. She felt relief hearing her mom's words, but the uncertainty of what might happen next still gnawed at her. "Do you think he'd want to try again? After everything?"

Jackie smiled, her eyes filled with warmth. "The only way to know for sure is to talk to him. You both have a lot of history, and sometimes, love is about working through the hard parts. But don't rush. Take your time, and when you're ready, have that conversation."

Aurelie nodded, feeling a little lighter but still unsure. She wasn't ready to reach out to Walker just yet, but knowing her mom was in her corner made the idea feel less daunting.

"Thanks, Mom," Aurelie whispered, her voice soft but full of gratitude.

Jackie smiled. "Always, sweetheart. No matter what happens, I'm here for you."

They finished their coffee, the conversation drifting to lighter topics, but Aurelie's mind was still on Walker. Maybe, just maybe, they still had a chance.
