~Chapter 8~

Inks POV;

I sighed as I put my shoes on, tying the laces neatly before standing up and walking outside the apartment door, closing it shut as I leaned on the wall next to it. 'Shape-shifters, and two of them none the less. I'm not even sure if they're shape-shifters, they could be shadows...'

"Ink, you coming?" Dream asked, locking up the apartment with Blue standing next to him.

"Yeah... let's go."

***

I giggled as Blue excitedly ran up the hill, Dream and me following him as we stared at the midnight moon. It may not have been a good idea for me to tag along with them but I didn't want Blue and Dream to be left alone in case of something bad happening.

I sat down on the soft grass, leaning against the tree and I eagerly looked at Blue and Dream as they stood a few feet away from each other. Then came the bright light, I quickly covered my eyes to shield them from the blinding light, but it was gone the second it came.

Unshielding my eyes I stopped myself from squealing out loud, Blue was in his snake form while Dream was in his bird form, flying off of the ground from where he was previously standing in his skeleton form.

"We'll be going now Ink, try not to get in trouble, and if you need us just give the signal." Dreams voice echoed at me as he nodded his head and flew to the south-west side of the forest. "Oh and there's water and snacks in my bag if you're hungry, be back soon!" Blue called out as he slithered down the hill, going to the south-east side of the forest and disappearing.

'I really hope they'll be back soon.'

Errors POV;

'This sucks...' I thought as I stared out the living room window, Monsoon season had cleared as but it did leave quite the damage. I sighed, leaning back as I leaned back on the sofa, turning my head to look at Geno sitting cross-legged, covered with blankets, on the floor next to the fireplace reading a book, in a fever...

As soon as I had recovered from the fever, Geno woke up with one the next day, so Reaper had to leave early that morning so he'd avoid catching it but didn't leave without asking Geno out. Actually I don't know if asking for your number counts as asking you out but who cares? I've got my eye on him.

I was interrupted from my thoughts as I felt sudden, powerful, presence of magic. I looked over at Geno as he suddenly stood up, speed walking over to the front door before I quickly stooped him by yanking on his arm.

"What are you doing Error?! We have to go and see if-"

"You're not going anywhere," I said as I dragged him back to the fireplace, making him sit down and handing his book over to him as I draped the blankets over him.

"But-"

"No buts, it's either you being careless and putting the forest in danger or me investigating it quietly."

"Ok, fine, but you better be back soon Error!" I heard Geno yell before closing the door shut behind me, running towards the spot from where I detected the magic. It was near the river, where I last saw that skeleton monster, I hate to admit it but he was very cute, I really wish I could see him again.

'Ugh, I really need to get my head out of the clouds and focus.'

I shifted into my wolf form as I ran alongside the riverbank, stopping once I saw a familiar hill, and sitting on top of that hill was the very same skeleton monster I saw the other day.

'Should I or should I not...? Oh, fuck it.'

I thought as I ran up the hill, slowing to a stop when I was in front of the now sleeping skeleton, he had an ink blotch on his cheek and these fascinating spiraling tattoos that looked like flowing it, starting from his neck to his legs.

I sat down and looked at him for god knows how long, taking in every last detail. I don't know why but I feel so attached to them already, it's like an urge to be next to them and never leave. After some time they started stirring, sitting up and yawning before slowly opening their eyes.

Our eyes locked, but only for a quick moment before they shook their head as if to get out of some sort of trance. I took the opportunity and sprinted back to the lake, glancing at them one last time before heading back towards the cabin.

Inks POV;

'What the-?'

I thought as I got up, going to the edge of the hill and looking around the forest for any signs of the mysterious shape-shifter. Sighing, I put my face in my hands and I sat down on the damp grass.

'I'm sure I saw them, the shape-shifter, but only for a split second. They were really pretty up close, their red eyes staring at me curiously, yet hungrily, like a predator stalking its prey.'

I shivered at the thought, but I really wanted to know more about them. I hope I get to see them again soon.

I got out of my trance as I saw Dream flying towards me, landing in front of me and changing into his skeleton form before frantically shaking my shoulders. However, as soon as Dream opened his mouth to speak, Blues voice interrupted him.

"INK! ARE YOU HURT?! WE SENSED A POWERFUL MAGIC PRESENCE SO WE CAME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! I'M SORRY FOR LEAVING YOU ALONE! ARE YOU OK?! DO YOU-"

"Calm down you two, nothing happened and I'm fine, you don't have to worry," I said, calming them both down when they suddenly fell on the grassy panting and gulping down air as sweat covered their foreheads.

"Are you both ok? Do you need water?" I asked, stopping when they both stood up and picked up their bags.

"N-no, for now let's just go home," Blue said, as I teleported back to the apartment. Both of them dropping on the couch before immediately passing out, leaving me to take care of them, again...

But I don't mind, because that's what friends do, right?
