~Chapter 7~

Morning approached as the city streets began to flood with Humans and Monsters, the city became busier and noisier as the day went on. Poor Dream and Blue were so tired from their shift that they didn't even bother to properly enter the 3 bedroom apartment, passing out on Ink as soon as he opened the door, leaving him to drag them to their own separate rooms.

Figuring that they deserved a break, Ink managed to convince their boss to give them a week off, leaving them to their well-deserved rest. Ink was currently making pancakes, a welcomed change from taco breakfast, as he let Blue and Dream sleep in, leaving them to wake up on their own once their tiredness wore off.

It didn't take long though, as Blue and Dream both came out of their rooms. Both of them looked refreshed and energized as they cheerfully greeted Ink, who was done with his last stack of pancakes.

"Again, we're so sorry for not going with you to the forest hill," Blue said with a mouth stuffed with pancakes as he devoured his plate in a matter of seconds, both Ink and Dream laughed at their friend's bubbly behavior as they shared their work stories.

Dreams POV;

"Oh! I almost forgot, I need to tell you both something weird I saw in the forest the other day!" Ink said, catching both I and Blues attention. "I hope it's something good! Like a cute fluffy bunny!" Blue cheerfully exclaimed as he put on a big grin, looking eagerly at Ink.

"Um... I don't know if it's good news or bad news, but it's definitely something you two should know about, being shape-shifters and all," That got my attention as Blues grin disappeared, Blue wasn't the one to get serious but when it came to our spirits everything should be taken seriously.

"When I was painting on the hill around sunset, I saw this pretty black wolf near the pond on the edge of the hill, it had these weird glitches over it so I decided to make a sketch of it," He said while handing us a bunch of rough sketches of the wolf.

 "After some time passed, I was packing my stuff to go home when I saw this strange light emit from the wolf and before I knew it, standing in the place of the wolf was a skeleton with the same features as the wolf. I kept staring at it but I guess it sensed my stare so it lifted its head to look at me dead in the eyes, and before I could even utter a word they transformed back into the wolf and ran off."

Ink finished, looking at us with a curious expression. 'Could it really be a shape-shifter? Or are they a shadow? I didn't pick up any territorial markings, so are they new to the forest? Do they mean harm to it? I don't know if-'

"Dream? Blue? Are you two ok?" Ink said, breaking my train of thoughts as I looked at Blue, who was staring at the sketch Ink drew of the wolf. "Yes Ink, we're fine, just a little surprised!" I said trying to lighten up the mood, it worked as Blue giggled and Ink smiled at us.

"It may be true, they may be a shape-shifter but they can be a shadow as well, so I need you to be careful while you go there Ink," I said, looking at Blue as he continued.

"We should check it out tomorrow, but for now, let's forget about it. I'm hungry anyway so who wants Taco for an afternoon snack!" Blue asked, cheerfully making his way towards the kitchen as both me and Ink followed him. All of us making jokes and sharing stories, completely forgetting about the worrisome problem.
