And I just sat there and cried.

not because I was looking for a line in your messages,

but just because you're weak.

- Are you sure you want to stay here? - Luke asks calmly, my older brother, so to speak. His face has been distorted by the interior of my room. The walls were dark, even black, small space and the sharp smell of rotten eggs. He held his breath and put my stuff on a low bed. I, laughing, copied his movement and put my suitcase under the bed. I sat on the mattress, but my back wouldn't let me lie down, hinting that I had to work. I snarled and stood up walking next to my brother.

His grey eyes slid across my figure and he sighed with boredom.

- Meg, calm down. You're nervous. - He said in a calm voice and his hand fell on my shoulder, clutching my dark green shirt. I got out of my mind, but I backed off from Luke. His voice didn't seem troubled, just irritable from my antics. On my action, he tongue-butted and relaxed on the bed.

- And yet, this is the best school we could imagine. - hoarsely said I sat next to Luke. He wasn't happy that I started talking about school.

- And I have to finish it to get a red diploma. - I started talking about my plans. I had to do my best to make them proud of me. So they could finally realize that I'm not a loser.

While I was back in my head and talking to my voice, my body was seething and then I felt a tingling sensation in my lower back.

- Hell, I'm still not used to it.

Luke wasn't paying attention to me, he was looking at the next bed, probably wondering who my neighbor was.

- I can clearly tell from your eyes that you think of my neighbor as a fat alcoholic. - I whispered and smiled, showing my stupid teeth.

His pale hands lay on my mouth and covered my teeth. I never understood his habit of covering my mouth, but it seemed ordinary. My brother was clearly not going to stay with me in that depressing atmosphere and he got up with the squeaky bed.

- Okay, I gotta go. - He said coldly and slowly began to move away, but he turned his face towards me, looking into my tired eyes.

- And Megan, don't be a workaholic for too long, okay? Mom will be worried again. - and after those words, he hid behind the corner.

I turned my face to a small window, wiped my saggy eyes with sweaty hands and blinked a few times. Next to it was a dirty bunk on which my neighbor's belongings were already painted. As I looked carefully at each item, I noticed the pink nail polish. It was a girl. Still, I didn't care about the person who would live with me.

I wasn't feeling well now. I used to do things all the time, but now I didn't even have any business. I guess being a workaholic is my calling. When I got out of my mind, I took out my suitcase and opened it. There was always everything you needed - books. There were so many books. Mostly textbooks in different sciences, and there was also a laptop. I used to do programming in it, so I spent all night panting about it.

In my head I remembered how in high school I sat at class until 5 a.m. and tried not to fall asleep in class. With such lightness, I was able to relax and lie down on the couch in peace.

Shit. Luke was right, it's really a pigsty. We need to eliminate the smell. I got up and decided to check out the mini fridge on the side of the neighbor's side first. Still, it's not that bad. This school was prestigious, but the living rooms told me different things. I opened the fridge and hit my nose with the disgusting smell of something messed up. I dug around and found some rotten eggs. It was disgusting. How does she even live with it. I took a pack of eggs and quickly left the room and ran down a long hallway to the trash. I was lucky to be able to find the dumpster and throw those eggs away. Well, welcome to a place worse than hell, Megan. I laughed nervously and went back. Now I can take a closer look at the hallways. They were narrow and long, which made me feel creepy, even though I had to get used to narrow spaces. I even like it.

Passing through all of these hallways, I live with other students coming out of their rooms and communicating. I, purely out of courtesy, wave to them and almost everyone waves back at me. A smile is dawning on my face and I hurry to my room to see my neighbor.

When I walk into my room with a victory over the bad smell, I notice a girl examining my books.

There's a smile on her lips and the purest delight. I thought I was gonna get hooked up with a painted dumbass, but my roommate is clearly not one of them. She's wearing a soft pink sweater. That's the only thing I noticed. She turned around and ran up to me holding a book about butterflies.

- Do you like butterflies, too? - enthusiastically, she asked and examined me.

- Yes, they're quite interesting insects. - I said calmly, and I looked at her.

She was quietly laughing and hugging me with her hands behind my ribs.

- Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, Sylvia.

I obviously like this girl.

I took her hand in mine and shook it.

- Megan, but you can call me Meg.
