Kaylee's POV

Returning to Chicago was all I thought about since Samual was not even born, I was 4 months along and only just found out I was pregnant, Annie had just turned 6 and Oscar had just been shot, Oscar was Annie and Samual's dad, he didn't make it and since then I've been in a downward spiral with my depression. Oscar and I moved to Michigan when I was 18, I was 7 months pregnant with Annie and Oscar had a new job in Michigan so we moved their, his mother and step father also lived their so we also had extra support but I did miss my brother Kelly and my friends too.

"Mama I'm hungry" Annie complained as we were on the plane to Chicago. I'd had everything shipped to my new house which my best friend Sophie Casey-Halstead had sorted out for me, we've been best friends since we were children and she was the only one who knew I was coming home today. Kelly knew I was planning on moving home to Chicago but he didn't know when but we were going to surprise him at the firehouse since he was working today.

"Okay baby, would you like some chips or goldfish?" I asked my six year old who had her IPad on her lap.

"Goldfish please mama" Annie smiled happily, I should have guessed, she loved goldfish and sometimes it was hard to get her to eat anything else.

"Okay" I smiled as I opened her  lilo and stitch bagpack and pulled out the pot of goldfish I had packed, we still had 40 minutes left of the flight so I knew she wouldn't be able to wait until we land. Just as I zip Annie's bag up Samual begins to cry.

"Hey baby" I say softly picking him up out of the car seat which was safely on the plane seat beside me. I gently rocked Samual but he wouldn't stop crying.

"Someone shut that kid up!" I heard a man's voice practically shout

"Oi it's a baby!" A woman who was sat opposite me shouted and shot me a small smile.

"How old is he?" The woman then asked turning to me as I tried to sooth my son.

"2 months, first time on a plane too" I said while I continued to rock Samual.

"Ignore that man, I had the same problem when my youngest was 3 months, turned out the flight was hurting her ears" the woman said softly.

"My daughter doesn't seem to have a problem with her ears when flying, although this is her second time on a plane" I said.

"Sophia and Daisy are on their 3rd time on a plane, they love flying" the woman smiled as she glanced in front of her where her two daughters were sat with a older woman who I assumed to be their grandmother.

"They are so well behaved, all your kids are" I smiled to the woman.

"I'll give you a little secret, I bribe them with treats, if they don't behave when flying they don't get a treat when we land" the woman laughed and I chuckled

"I'm going to have to try that in the future" I nodded.

"I never asked your name" the woman then said

"Kaylee, this is Annie and this is Samual" I introduced myself and the kids

"I'm Julia and these are my kids, Daisy and Sophia are 5 and are with my mom, then by the window we have Ollie and Megan is in the middle here, then behind you guys we have Amelia, Andrew and Amber my oldest and the triplets, we sadly lost their father a month ago so we're going to visit his family in Chicago for a month. Julia said, she really had her hands full with 7 children.

"We lost my kids dad not long after I found out I was pregnant with Samual, im moving back to Chicago permanently" i said

"Can I ask you something?" I paused, I was curious to if Sophia and Daisy and Megan and Ollie were twins or something too.

"Sure" Julia smiled

"Well when I saw you in the airport I noticed that Sophia and Daisy and Ollie and Megan looked alike, are they twins too or is it just a coincidence?" I asked

"Yeah, Sophia and Daisy are twins and Ollie and Megan are also twins, Daisy is the oldest out of her and Sophia and Ollie is older out of Megan and himself. The oldest of the triplets is Andrew" Julia said and I nodded.

"I bet it was hard having 3 babies when the triplets were babies" I wondered

"It really was but my mom was amazing, she always has been" smiled Julia

"Would you mind watching Annie, I need to go and change this little monster" I grinned to my son who was still crying but had now dirtied his diaper.

"Of course I will" Julia smiled and I thanked her.

"Annie, I'll be back in a minute. You don't move out of your seat and listen to Julia, I've got to go change your brother.

"Okay Mama" Annie smiled before looking back down at her iPad which had The Norris Nuts on, she loved to watch them on YouTube...

The rest of the flight seemed to fly by and soon I was waiting to go through baggage claim then I collecting my rental, I was getting my new car in a few days so I was using a rental for the next few days. After I collect the rental I have to head to med to get my new house keys and Annie's booster seat from Sophie and then drop the suitcases off at the house and probably change Samual sort Annie out and then we will head to the firehouse.

"Do you need to go toilet?" I asked Annie before we were to leave the airport.

"No mama" annie responded and I headed out to the car rental place. Annie was pulling her suitcase while I was pushing Samual and pushing mine too.

"Are you ready to see Auntie Sophie and then Uncle Kelly" I asked Annie while we walked towards the car rental.

"I've missed Uncle Kelly" Annie said and I smiled.

"So have I kiddo, so have I" I said agreeing with her. Kelly came to visit us a year ago but I've needed him more than ever.

"Hi, I've got a rental I'm due to pick up. Name is Kaylee Severide" I said as Annie began pulling faces at Samual who was giggling at his older sister. I always wanted the two children to be close and if I ever have any more children in the future I hope they will also be close, it's the one important thing for me since I was close with Kelly and I still am.

"Ah yes. You're right here. Would you like us to pick the car up in a few days or would you drive it to us?" The man asked.

"Please could you pick it up." I answered to the man who nodded and typed it into his computer.

"Aright. I'll get the car brought round right now" smiled the man and I thanked him before waiting outside.

"Severide?" Asked the young man as I stood outside with my children.

"That's me" I nodded and the man gave me a key. I thanked him and then got Samual's car seat into the car and the made sure the seat was secure. After I got the 2 month old into the car, i knew it was going to be difficult but I had to drive to Med without Annie on a booster seat, Sophie had it in her car for me to pick up and I was worried that I would get pulled over for not having Annie on a seat.

"Mama we going to see uncle Kelly yet?" Annie asked while I buckled her into the car, although she was 6 I wanted to make sure she was safe for the time being especially without her seat. Once I had bucked her in and shut the door I climbed into the drivers seat and sent Sophie a text message to let her know I was leaving the airport and heading to med now.

"We are going to see auntie Sophie first, we need to pick our new house keys up and then we need to go home and unpack the car. And I thought we could get McDonald's on the way to see uncle Kelly" I said to my daughter, I wasn't going to have anything to eat. I wasn't actually hungry, I usually only eat in the evening and maybe breakfast.

"Okay Mama. Can I have Nuggets?" Annie asked

"You can baby." I smiled as I began driving to med. the drive to med was rather quicjC their wasn't as much traffic as I expected but soon I had parked the car and got Samual out of the car and then opened Annie's door before heading inside.

"Can I help you?" The receptionist asked as I entered the waiting room to ask for Sophie.

"I'm looking for Sophie Halstead" I said. The receptionist nodded and left for a brief moment.

"Kaylee!! Sophie didn't say you were going to be coming by" Maggie said sounding shocked that I was stood here.

"Hi Maggie" I smiled as Annie began hiding behind me, she was shy sometimes.

"I made Sophie promise not to tell anyone, apart from Will. I wanted to surprise Kelly. But I'm back for good. I've came to pick up the keys to my new house and Annie's car seat" i said to Maggie.

"We will have to get together soon." Maggie paused

"Sophie is in the doctors lounge. Come with me, I'll take you to her" Maggie said

"It's okay Annie, this is one of Mama's good friends" I said softly to my daughter while I crouched down to her height.

"Okay Mama" Annie said softly. Annie followed Maggie while I pushed Samual's pushchair.

"Auntie Sophie!!!" Annie practically shouted as Maggie opened the door and she could see Sophie.

"Inside voice Annie!" I warned as Sophie ran over to Annie who scooped her up and spun her around as she hugged the 6 year old

"Look how tall you've gotten!" Sophie exclaimed while I smiled.

"Me a big sister now!" Grinned Annie once Sophie had put her down.

"I know kiddo, are you going to introduce me to your little brother" Sophie asked as she shot me a smile

"Auntie Sophie this is Sammy" Annie said using Samual's nickname.

"He's beautiful. He has your eyes" Sophie said to me and made me smile.

"He has Oscar's nose" I smiled thinking about Annie and Samual's dad.

"Maggie I'm going to take my break. Page me if any changes occur with Winnie." Sophie said just as Natalie enters the doctors lounge.

"Hey Natalie" I smiled recognising one of my best friends, I hadn't seen her in forever but we talk all the time.

"When did you get back Kaylee!?" Natalie asked me

"About 2 hours ago, has to come and get my new house keys and Annie's car seat from Sophie." I said

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming home, we should get Owen and Annie together sometime. They've only seen each other over a screen since they were one." Natalie points out. Annie was still occupied by Sophie as I was talking to Natalie.

"I just wanted to surprise Kelly. I only told Sophie because I needed someone to sort things out on this side for me and she was visiting when I decided that I wanted to move back home" I said to Natalie

"Natty!" Annie then realised Natalie was stood talking to me.

"Hi Annie, have you been good for your mama?" Natalie asked the 6 year old who nodded, she was always good, well almost always.

"Yes Auntie Natty! Can I see Owen?" Annie asked

"How about Saturday we go to the park and have a movie night. All together. We can also see if AJ and Callie would like to come" I suggested. AJ was Annie and is going to be Samual's godmother.

"Auntie AJ!!" Annie grinned happily and I nodded.

"I take that as a yes." I laughed.

Once I had changed Samual after arriving home I drove to McDonald's and ordered Annie a chicken nuggets happy meal and myself a coke before heading to firehouse 51, I remember growing up running around the firehouse with Kelly. Being told stories by my godfather Wallace Boden, I always called him Uncle Wally, I had trouble saying his name but he didn't mind me calling him Wally.

"Okay baby girl shall we put your rubbish in the bin and then head inside to see uncle Kelly" I asked my daughter who nodded, she had finished her meal 5 minutes ago and I had just parked to let her finish eating. I got out the car and opened Annie's door, I made sure she waited on the pavement while I got Samual's pushchair out.

"Mama can I go put my rubbish in that bin?" Annie asked pointing to the bin which was two cars away from where I was parked.

"Okay baby girl but straight their and straight back." I smiled to Annie who nodded

"Okay mama" Annie smiled. She was 6 but I tried to let her have some independence, I wouldn't let her go too far but the bin was still in my eye line now I had got Samual's pushchair from the car. I gently unbuckled my son from the car and put him into his pushchair and covered him over as it was chilly. I watched Annie as she began running over to me happily, she was growing up so fast and I just wanted to freeze moments like this so I could replay them again and again.

"I was a big girl mama" Annie smiled happily taking hold of Samual's pushchair while I also held it and locked the car. I hadn't stepped foot into the firehouse since before I left, I didn't even visit when I came for dads funeral or the time I visited Kelly, I didn't know why, I just for some reason didn't feel up for it.

"It's safe mama" Annie said as she looked left and right, the two of us crossed the road and then up to the doors of the firehouse. All the doors were open however only one of the fire trucks were in, Squad 3 to be exact. I smiled when I saw Kelly sat at the table on the apparatus floor. He seemed to be the only one their at the moment, well the only one sat at the table.

"This is it" i thought to myself as I slowly made my way over to Kelly, quietly I tapped him on the shoulder.

"Kaylee!!" Kelly practice shouted immediately standing up and wrapping his arms around me in a protective way, gently he rubbed my back as he hugged me.

"Hi big bro" I smiled when Kelly pulled away.

"Hello uncle Kelly" smiled Annie then immediately wrapping her arms around Kelly, Kelly did the same.

"Hello munchkin" Kelly said to Annie who buried her head into Kelly's shoulder.

"I've missed you Kel' it's been way too long" I practically whispered once Leplt put Annie down and I once again wrapped my arms around my older brother. My eyes closed as I felt the familiar feeling of safety, the safety of my brothers arms. But as I opened my eye and sudden their were more men on the floor.

"Going to introduce us to to lady friend?" One of the men said, I couldn't remember anyone a names, but if I did I wouldn't be able to put names to faces.

"this is my little sister Kaylee and my niece and nephew Annie and Samual" Kelly said indicating to my children

"Hi all" I said with a small smile while Annie seemed to hide behind Samual's pushchair.

"I'm guessing none knows about me?" I whispered to Kelly

"They do but you haven't came round and you haven't met anyone" Kelly whispered back...

After half an hour Samual started crying and the rest of the trucks were back and I had met Kelly's girlfriend Stella Kidd, she was great and I could see us both being friend.

"Stella, could you watch Annie please, I need to change and feed Samual, I didn't express enough milk before my flight and honestly I never feel comfortable breastfeeding in public so try to express before going out" I said biting my lip anxiously.

"Of course I can. We could see if we can sneak some halloween candy" Stella said smiling to Annie who looked up to me grinning.

"Can I mama?" Annie asked, I smiled and nodded.

"Just a warning, Annie here is really picky" I said to Stella, I didn't have to warn her a about any allergies, only becuase i wasn't aware of any allergies; she'd never had an allergic reaction to anything before so I was sure she should be safe.

"Come on the little one" Stella then smiled and I thanked her before grabbing Samual's diaper bag and gently picked him up. I first went to the toilets to change him before seeing if Kelly was in his office, I wanted to ask if it was okay if i could use his office to feed Samual.

"Kelly..." I grinned watching him about to leave his office.

"What's up Kails" Kelly asked me

"Could I possibly use your office, to feed Samual. Annie is with Stella and i don't feel comfortable feeding in front of everyone." I asked Kelly while I gently bounced Samual.

"You don't have to ask." Nodded Kelly and thanked him before going into his office and shut the blinds.

Later that day after spending like the whole afternoon at the firehouse I decided to take the kids home. Before leaving Kelly and I both organised for me to pick him up at 8:30 so he could finish paperwork and then head to get some waffles and he even offered to come with me to look at schools for Annie, theirs were 2 I was looking at and I scheduled for them to be sooner rather than later because I start working in intelligence in a few weeks.

After feeding both of the kids I ordered myself a pizza and settled down with a film. Chicago was home and I was relieved to finally be home where I belong.
