Team Pistil is a comprised of 14 members, 7 females and 7 males. All members are all from the ages 23-25 years old and have all been scouted by City Government officials through University Records and High School records. These 10 individuals have survived a 300-member testing program and were the last people to pass the program, thus granting them a solid position on Team Pistil for the defending JIAN of Sendai, Japan. Team Pistil was first established in 4012, their pilots are famous faces and bring great honor to their city. Pilots work as Passengers all their lives until it is deemed unsafe for them to continue to operate the JIANS. The last team to pilot Team Pistil has now retired, which calls for 10 new individuals to continue the tradition.
Pilots are meant to be extremely smart. They are well-trained and well-versed in combat and battle, and most, if not all, pilots have served in the military for at least a year, increasing their chances at being chosen for the Student JIAN program. However, many pilots do not have prior experience at piloting or driving since the Student JIAN program supplies that experience for you.
JIANs are approximately 40 meters tall. To operate one JIAN, it takes two pilots: one male and one female. While JIANs are relatively new to society, scientists are confident to say that social and emotional compatibility is the number one requirement to be able to successfully operate a JIAN. In other words, if one pilot is unstable or uncooperative, the JIAN can malfunction. Or, if a pilot goes rogue, the JIAN can destroy itself and potentially injure or mortally wound your partner.
After years of research, it's been revealed that female pilots, 98.7% of the time, are able to feel the brunt of physical attacks and have less physical control than male pilots over the JIAN (approximately 30% less control than male pilots). Male pilots are more susceptible to going rogue than female pilots due to their overwhelming control over JIANs, however, the chances of male pilots going rogue and causing bodily harm to their partners has stayed at a steady 15% over the last 50 years.
Pilots are treated as celebrity-equivalent individuals, they often meet with Government officials and frequently win various awards for their bravery and dedication to their city. Additionally, JIAN pilots are fucking rich. After all, they do risk their lives almost every day.

━━━━━━━━━
OO1﹕WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO PILOT A JIAN?
It is like an out-of-body experience. Your mind is very much awake and active while your body is frozen inside the JIAN, but don't let that deceive you. You can still feel pain, especially for female pilots.
OO2﹕CAN YOU SPEAK TO OTHER PILOTS WHILE PILOTING A JIAN?
Yes. There are intercoms programmed inside of JIANs, including access to your other teammates, various Government officials depending on the scenario, and emergency medical services. When communicating with your teammates, a screen will pop up on your JIANs helmet, showing a hologram of the teammate that's speaking along with audio. With any other person/s, no hologram is shown and only audio is provided.
OO3﹕WHAT KIND OF SUITS DO PILOTS WEAR?
Many suits vary in design and color, but Team Pistil wears white, silverish suits and are customized for each member's preferences or requests. Examples include:
OO4﹕IS THERE A TEAM LEADER?
Yes. There is a team leader and lieutenant that make general decisions for the team in terms of battle formation, combat strategy, and tactical decisions that can/will affect the livelihood their team members.
OO5﹕HOW ARE PARTNERS CHOSEN?
Partners are chosen by staff specialized in compatibility and psychological performance. They work closely with each team member and help maintain a socially healthy and thriving environment in order to optimize JIAN operation performance (In terms of your characters, I will be assigning partners).
OO6﹕WHERE DO PILOTS LIVE?
We are unable to give out exact addresses, however, do know that the pilots live comfortably in Government protected spaces where their comfortability is our top priority (Pilots live in dorms with roommates of their choosing).
OO7﹕HOW DO YOU MOVE A JIAN?
Emotional and mental compatibility between partners is the first and most important requirement to piloting a JIAN. The cockpit looks a lot like a control board similar to that of an airplane's, however it is significantly simplified. Moving is more of a mental strain than a physical one — you simply have to imagine moving rather than saying "move." But there's the mental hurdle of being on the same wavelength as your partner, so communication is very important when operating a JIAN. This becomes second nature after extensive practice, so don't worry too much about it!
OO8﹕HOW ARE STUDENTS SELECTED?
Team officials and staff from each city go through University Records and High School records to scout potential pilots based on intelligence and athletic training. On average, 700-1,000 students are scouted and only 300 make it to the Student Piloting Program, where only approximately 50 students will graduate. 10 will go on to become official Pilots. Selection is very, very strict.
OO9﹕WHAT DO JIANS FIGHT?
As the world has grown older, certain species have evolved to become extremely intelligent and aggressive. Invasive species have become hard to maintain and control even with the encouragement of overhunting and population control programs made for invasive species. With the emergence of technology bodily enhancement, certain species have become extremely dangerous and destructive that local police and military have trouble fighting against. Some animals consist of bears, sharks, snakes, wolves, certain species of birds, and certain big cats. The cure and/or reason for the aggressive behavior towards humans and civilization is unknown.
O1O﹕WHY SCOUT STUDENTS?
Students are scouted because young adults from the ages 20-25 have the best physiological and physical abilities, everybody mentally and physically peaks at 25, making JIAN operating easy and safe for the pilot. Students that train in the program when they are 18-19 are likely to be chosen by the time they turn 23/24. However, do know that becoming a JIAN pilot is a LIFE-LONG COMMITMENT. This is nonnegotiable.
