I peeked inside the dance studio and caught a glimpse of Hyunjin in the middle of the floor.
He had changed his clothes, his former outfit stored in his duffel bag in the corner, and was now adorned in a silk black blouse and leather pants, bringing out the shine of the silver necklace around his throat and the matching belt around his waist.
Pausing in the middle of a motion, he sighed, frustrated at the distraction of his hair in his eyes. Tearing the white ribbon from his dark locks and holding it between his teeth, Hyunjin reached up and pulled his hair back once again.
My breath caught in my throat as I watched him take the ribbon from his mouth and tie up his hair, the veins in his hands and arms visible as his thin sleeves fell to his forearms.
Why could I feel my heart beating faster in my chest?
Hyunjin let his arms fall to his sides, adjusting the sleeves at his wrists and waiting for a cue in the music to continue the choreo.
As the music played, a calm but passionate symphony of instruments, his body suddenly came alive as he moved to the rhythm with graceful steps, executing the choreography with such a captivating elegance and power that I couldn't tear my eyes away.
He seemed to give his all to every single move, but the following gesture never lacked energy or emotion. The way the music seemed to flow through him, helping him to create such a beautiful scene of passion and slight sensuality, was indescribably and beautifully alluring.
Somehow making every movement seem difficult but easy, and with steady motions, he continued dancing with an astounding grace and intensity that could entrance any viewer whose eyes were blessed with the sight of his talent.
I stood for a few more moments, watching Hyunjin dance from outside, drowning in the sight of his hypnotizing movements, until he noticed me in the reflection of the wall-length mirror parallel to the glass door.
He slowed to a stop, turning away from the mirror to face the door and look at me.
I smiled and waved awkwardly, desperately trying to calm my racing heartbeat.
Collecting his Bluetooth speaker and stowing it away in his duffel bag, Hyunjin tossed the strap over his shoulder and approached me.
"Hey," He opened the door and turned off the lights behind him with a smile. "Were you waiting long?"
I shook my head. I lost track of time while watching him dance anyways.
"You didn't wreck my car, did you?!" He pointed an accusing finger at me as we left the dance studio, and I walked beside him out into the warm air of another summer dusk.
"No, of course not," I rolled my eyes, tossing him his keys and nodding my head towards his beloved and perfectly intact car, parked outside the main door, bathed in the fading glow of the golden sunset.
Hyunjin rushed towards it, abruptly stopping in front of it and letting out a breath of relief when he found no prominent scratches.
I smiled as I watched him hover around his car, like a kitten circling a new toy. How had I not realized before how adorable he was? The sparkle of curiosity that often shined in his dark eyes, the pout on his full lips when he wanted to get his way, the bright smile that claimed his entire face and pressed his eyes into crescent moons, how the fading golden light graced his skin, leaving it sun kissed and glowing...
The way he'd absentmindedly bite his lower lip, or let his tongue glide to the corner of his mouth, the way his doe eyes turned to siren eyes, and how he combed his dark hair back...
The way his hot breath would feel on my neck, sending a tingle through my body as his slender fingers traced my jawline, tilting my head and parting his full lips, bringing them to devour mine—
Woah.
WOAH.
𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘢, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨??
I immediately shook my head to clear those unholy thoughts.
Where did that come from?!
Hyunjin called to me from the driver's seat of his car, snapping me out of my trance, but his words were blurry, and I wasn't fully comprehending them.
He was saying something about a taxi...
𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘯 𝘪𝘵, 𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘹𝘪!
I had forgotten to order one, how was I going to get home if Hyunjin was taking his car back and mine was still getting fixed??
"I-I forgot to order one," I told him, forcefully clearing the last of those thoughts from my mind.
"I'll take you home," he said, hanging a hand out of his open driver's window and patting the side of his car with a smile.
The sun had reluctantly disappeared behind the horizon, leaving the sky dark with fleeing traces of purple strokes in the West as stars started to appear and glitter in the East.
"Yeah, sure, thanks," I responded, my voice coming out as a weak whisper, jumping into the car beside Hyunjin.
He nodded, starting the engine and placing a firm hand on the wheel, the other resting in his lap, leaning back in the chair and taking on a nonchalant posture as he drove calmly through the quiet night.
I blanked out for most of the ride, gazing up at the stars when Hyunjin had removed the hood of his convertible, allowing the summer night breeze to tousle his hair.
Why was I suddenly thinking all of this stuff about him? I had noticed the way his wrists were effortlessly guiding the wheel, and how his eyes reflected the night sky, filling with stars, and I heard the low hum of a beautiful melody that barely passed his lips.
I never noticed those things before... Why were they so attractive to me now? Why was Hyunjin becoming attractive to me?
𝘞𝘢𝘴 𝘏𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘫𝘪𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦?
I was once again jolted from my thoughts when Hyunjin waved a hand in front of my face.
We were parked in front of my home, and Hyunjin was standing next to me, holding the passenger door open for me to step out.
"Earth to Hana~" He sang, staring into my eyes.
"A-Ah, we're here," I stuttered, stating the obvious for lack of anything else to say.
I stepped out, and Hyunjin followed me, walking me to my door.
I unlocked my door, then turned to face Hyunjin with a smile before going inside. "Thanks, Hyunjin. I'll see you tomorrow."
He nodded, smiling back and waving with "Bye, Hana," his voice drifting through the night like a whimsical melody before he returned to his car.
I quickly stepped inside, closing the door behind me and retreating to my room. I dived onto my bed, not bothering to change my clothes for the moment. Instead, I buried my head into my pillow and contemplated screaming into it.
