𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭.

As the interview with Han played during the breaks in the broadcast, it wasn't Han I thought about, spacing out in my designated swivel chair in the studio with my hands crossed behind my head.

It was Felix.

For some reason Chan had wanted me to sit with Felix while he recorded the ad for the AE product after the interview. We both knew that there was absolutely no reason for me to be there, but I had nothing else to do around the station, so I obliged.

Felix scanned the script Chan had given him and commenced the recording, but both his deep voice and the words coming out of his mouth startled the heck out of me.

"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯..."

How was his voice as deep as the ocean and as smooth as a wave rolling onto the beach?

I stared at him with wide eyes. Chan wasn't lying when he said Felix was talented.

I felt my stomach flutter as he continued, the words like honey dripping from his mouth.

"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦..."

His eyes left the paper in front of him and met my gaze as he dropped his voice at least two octaves. "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙩."

𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘯, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘵?!

I broke eye contact with him, turning my attention to an interesting part of the studio wall as I tried to hide my cheeks, flushing red.

"...𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘺 𝘈𝘌 𝘊𝘰𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴. Is that how you wanted me to say it?"

His voice returning to normal, he looked up to Chan with puppy dog eyes and a small pout, seeking approval from the man watching him through the studio window. Chan gave him a nod and a thumbs up, and Felix smiled brightly, satisfied.

I sat across from him in utter confusion.

What did I just witness??

I thought about it as I turned in my swivel chair in front of the sound desk in the studio, now empty.

Felix, as if sensing that I was thinking about him, came into the studio and sat on the edge of the desk, spreading his legs and setting his motorcycle helmet between his knees. He watched me in silence for a moment before tilting his head and smiling.

"Hey."

I couldn't bring myself to make eye contact with him, or I felt like I would start blushing immediately. So I turned my chair around, facing the wall with my back to him. "What's up?"

He didn't skip a beat, staring at the back of my chair. "Are you... doing anything after work?"

I choked on air. Was he about to ask me out??

"N-No, not really, why?"

He paused for a moment, as if deciding on what to say.

"Could you do me a favor, then? Hyunjin needs some help putting the extra equipment from the interview back in the storage room, but I think he'd like it more if you helped him."

I finally turned around in my chair to face him, an eyebrow raised.

He wasn't asking me out, but something else needed addressing.

The subject had finally come up — I was determined to get to the bottom of this.

"Why? Is there something going on between you two?" I questioned Felix, leaning forward and clasping my hands under my chin, narrowing my eyes as I studied him like I was beginning an interrogation.

He looked up at the ceiling as he thought, swinging his legs like a little kid as they dangled from the desk. Was this the same guy who recorded that AE ad with me earlier??

"...Would you believe me if I told you that I don't even know?"

"No, not really," I answered honestly with a bland tone, keeping my unwavering composure, sticking to my assumed position as interrogator.

Chuckling softly, his gaze fell to the floor. "Hyunjin, Minho and I went to school together, maybe he's embarrassed that I know him from then."

"You went to school with Hyunjin and Minho?!" I repeated, surprised, accidently breaking my stoic character.

No wonder Minho acted like he knew what was going on with them — he did, but he would probably never tell me in favor of keeping me in suspense. Knowing that he had my curiosity wrapped around his finger would serve for his amusement.

Felix nodded, smiling as he reminisced. "We weren't very close, though, so it's okay if he's embarrassed about it." He lifted his eyes from the floor at glanced at me. "We were all pretty different back then."

I tilted my head as I watched him, filling with interest. "What were 𝘺𝘰𝘶 like back then?"

Felix threw me a look and visibly cringed, shaking his head. "Ah... Very different."

I smirked. "Oh come on, you have to tell me," I whined, scooting my chair closer to him and tugging on the sleeve of his shirt. "You can't say that and not tell me!"

He gave in and smirked, looking up and humming as he thought. "Hmm... I was pretty iced out," He finally said, motioning towards his neck and wrists, then doing jazz hands. "Very flashy."

I had forgotten for a moment that Felix was also from a wealthy family. He had to be to attend the same school as Hyunjin and Minho, the prestigious school that Hyunjin constantly bragged about when he first started at the station.

But I never realized just how different I considered them — I knew they both had a similar family background, but I guess Felix never really registered as that rich to me. His expensive motorcycle, always parked outside the station, didn't do much to remind me of how different he was from me, because we acted so much alike. He was so much of a friend to me despite our vastly different social classes and backgrounds.

It wasn't that Hyunjin wasn't a friend to me, but I couldn't describe the way I felt closer to Felix because of his distinctions from Hyunjin. It was their simple but somehow immense contrasts that gave them their own special places in my heart.

Felix suddenly spoke while absentmindedly tracing something on the top of his helmet, and I realized that while I was thinking he had gone quiet.

His soft but deep voice filled the studio as he voiced his thoughts, lifting his eyes to meet mine with a genuine and comforting depth to his gaze.

"Actually, Hana, what I wanted to ask earlier was... I was wondering if you would like to come over?"
