Chris had left his home around 20 minutes ago to go for a walk around the neighborhood. He'd normally ask Nick or Matt to accompany him, but he wanted to be alone with his thoughts. There wasn't anything wrong, he just needed to be by himself and he couldn't stand being stuck inside his room any longer.
As he started walking back home, he thought about forcing Matt to drive him to the nearest gas station so they could buy snacks. He hummed proudly, content with his plan. His phone buzzed and he glanced down to see what the notification was, but as he was looking down— and still walking— he collided heads with a girl who was looking down at her purse in search of her phone.
They both groaned at the impact, taking a few cautious steps back while they rubbed their foreheads with their hands to ease the pain.
Alicia slowly opened her eyes, blinking rapidly to adjust to her surroundings. When her vision finally cleared, she took notice of the person she ran into— her extremely hot neighbor. She had seen him and the two other boys he lived with before, leaving and going into their house on various occasions, but had never spoken to them.
She reached down to pick up his fallen phone and exclaimed, "I'm so sorry. I should've watched where I was going."
At the sound of the girl's voice, he rubbed his eyes to clear his vision faster. Her voice sounded so soft and sweet, he had to see who was speaking. When he finally saw her, it was like all thoughts left his mind. She was unreal. Her brown hair cascaded over shoulders perfectly, her eyes were a gorgeous honey brown, her lips were so pink and plump, and she smelled of warm vanilla. Her voice had matched her perfectly. She sounded like an angel and looked like an angel.
Chris shook his head to hopefully shake himself out of his own trance. He probably looked so dumb just staring blankly at her while she held out his phone for him. He gently took the phone from her hand and his fingers grazed her own, sending a shock through his body at the subtle contact.
"It's all good. I shouldn't have been staring at my phone," he spoke slowly to avoid tripping up over his words. "Hey, you live next door to me and my brothers, don't you?" He mentally slapped himself for that stupid question because she was clearly standing in front of her house and they had seen each other many times previously. "Well, obviously."
The girl giggled and he swore it was the most heavenly sound he had heard. He unconsciously made it his goal to hear her laughter again.
"Yeah. I'm Alicia," she breathed out, rocking back and forth on her heels. "Sorry I've never introduced myself before. I feel like we only see each other at inconvenient times."
He brushed off her apology, finding no real reason for her to be sorry about something trivial like that. "True," he laughed and the corner of her lips turned upwards. She watched as he lifted his hat for a second to run a hand through his hair and place the hat on backwards. His simple action had her mesmerized. He was breathtaking especially with the hat on backwards. "I'm Chris. My brothers are Matt and Nick. I can introduce you guys some other time."
"That'd be nice. I just moved here like two months ago and I don't really know anyone. I'm actually on my way to hang out with like the only person I know out here."
"Oh sick. How are you liking it?" he questioned, crossing her arms over his chest.
She fiddled with her car keys and bit her lip, shrugging, "It's alright. Not all that's hyped up to be, in my opinion."
"For sure. My brothers and I used to live in Boston and it's 100 times better over there. It can be cool out here though."
Alicia tilted her head to the side and Chris' lips twitched upwards at the sight. She was cute. "Why did you guys move over here?"
He was unsure if she knew who he was. God, that sounded pretentious, he thought. She showed no indication that she was aware of their popularity online, but she could be masking it really well. This girl was literally his dream girl and he wasn't trying to mess up any of his chances.
He decided on saying, "For work."
Her face crinkled up at the vagueness of his response and he assumed she definitely did not know of his and his brothers' online personality. He smiled at that. He was having a genuine conversation with a pretty girl who had no ulterior motives.
"What are you smiling like that? You look goofy," Alicia laughed, covering her mouth to muffle the sound. His smile fell and his face contorted into one of faux offense.
"Wow, okay." She laughed again and he found himself laughing along with her. She had this physical and mental magnetic pull about her.
When their laughter died down, he questioned her next. "Why did you move here?"
"Just wanted a change of scenery and my best friend lives here so I figured why not."
"The friend you're going to visit now?"
Alicia's face brightened at the fact that he remembered that, even though it was unimportant. Most guys she'd spoken with couldn't even remember her name after their conversation, so this was a nice change.
"Yeah. We grew up together in Texas. She moved to L.A. a few years ago for work too. She's a YouTuber. No joke, she's like my only friend so when she moved I was devastated."
"Wait, wait, wait," he put a hand on her shoulder, before quickly pulling it away. Her eyebrows furrowed at his sudden oddness. "She's a YouTuber?"
"Yeah!"
"Who?"
"Um—"
At her hesitance to answer, he felt the need to clarify, "My brothers and I are also YouTubers. We probably know her."
An obvious lightbulb went off in her head, as she let out a gasp of surprise. "That's why you moved to L.A.! Why didn't you just say that?"
"For my safety."
"If I were a fan I would already know that you're a YouTuber," she deadpanned, while she shifted her weight from one foot to the other.
His mouth fell open, before he reluctantly nodded his head to her statement. "Ok, true. But also like my emotional safety."
"Huh?"
"It would be stupid of me to just tell anyone that I have a large following online because then I wouldn't be able to form real connections with people. They might use me or something," the boy confessed, finding it easy to confide in her for some reason. Her presence bringing a sense of comfort to him even though this is the first time they've ever interacted.
"That makes sense. Sorry. I feel like I overstepped," she whispered, taking a small step backwards.
He noticed she apologized a lot and especially for things that were really no big deal. "No, it's okay," he reassured her with a genuine smile.
She just nodded her head in reply. "Um, Nailea Devora." He let out a puzzled hum. "Nailea is my friend. The YouTuber."
"Oh! We don't know her personally, but we've heard of her. She's friends with our friend Larray."
Alicia beamed up at him, her eyes crinkling with how much she was smiling. "Oh my god! You know Larri? He's my only other friend out here. I met him through Nailea actually."
Chris chuckled at her amazement. He swore her eyes actually twinkled when he nodded his head at her question. "Now you know me and I'll definitely introduce you to Nick and Matt, so that's three more people you know in L.A."
If possible her smile widened and his face, no doubt, also reflected a similar look. "Thanks!" She looked to her phone and frowned, wishing her conversation could've lasted longer. "I've got to go."
"Oh, right. It was really nice to meet you. You're pretty cool."
She stepped past him and let out an amused huff. "You too." She stepped off the sidewalk, but swiveled around and called out to the boy, "What's your YouTube channel?"
"Sturniolo Triplets."
"I'll watch some videos soon, and when I catch you again I'll give you my honest opinion."
He walked over to her and switched their phones. "Here. Put your number in and I'll put my number into your phone so we don't have to wait until we see each other in person. We're literally neighbors, but I doubt we're going to run into each other again anytime soon. It took us a month to actually interact."
The girl let out another giggle, as she typed her number and a cute contact name into his phone. They switched back and analyzed the contact they had created for each other.
"Allie? That's pretty," he mused with a smirk and she looked away to avoid looking like a blushing idiot.
"Chris is alright," she shrugged nonchalantly like her heart wasn't still beating rapidly at his comment.
He put a hand over his heart and sighed, "You're really breaking my heart, Allie."
She shook her head at him with a grin, loving the way he said her name. "Bye, Chris," she waved, as she unlocked her car door.
"Bye, Allie."
He watched as she slipped into to the driver's seat and then drove off a minute later. He let out a delighted exhale and walked to his front door with a little pep in his step. He just held a conversation with the most beautiful girl he's ever laid his eyes on and he got her number. He was fucking ecstatic.
