Chapter 5
Theodore at the media 😁
THIRD PERSON POV
Seated in the love garden was Theodore and his new friends. It was almost the end of the last period and they were all free. Ola's high pitched laughter could be heard from a distance. She laughed to a joke that Zion told.
"That reminds me, Theodore we didn't get to know you well." Zion started. "You know, after what happened." An uncomfortable silence filled the area they were seated at. Their gazes on Irene who typed away on her phone with her air pod probably listening to the lasted jam or so they thought.
"I'm Theodore Oyedele-Thompson." Theodore said to break the silence. "That names sounds so familiar." Zion started stroking his chin in an attempt to remember. "Bernard Oyedele-ThompsonOyedele-Thompson." Kiki helped him out looking up from the novel she had been reading.
"Oh yeah! The former governor of Lagos state." Desmond added. "Any relationship to him?" Zion asked with an arched brow.
"He's my father." Theodore replied them and Ola squealed. "I'm not surprised, It is said that his children are very good looking." She said in between fits of laughter. "And that man has mad money." She whistled.
Theodore chuckled dryly "Yeah, but I don't like the whole attention attached to it. I'll prefer we keep this between us."
"That's cool." TY added. "But your surname gives you away already." Desmond said. Theodore shrugged "Yeah."
"Oh yeah, TY also said you dance pretty well." Osaze said looking away from her laptop that had all her attention the whole time. Theodore sighed softly. "I don't dance anymore."
"Why not?" TY cooed earning a few snickers from the other guys. "No reason. I just don't dance anymore." he replied with a shrug. They decided not to push it and let him be.
They talked for what seemed for hours but in reality it wasn't even up to an hour. Irene sat chatting away on her phone not paying attention to the conversation her friends were having.
The love garden became very empty and they were the only ones left but they had no clue because they were so engrossed in their conversation. Theodore clicked well with everyone except Irene and he was glad his new friends were cool.
"Good afternoon Seniors, The principal asked me to call all the prefects for a meeting." All eyes shot up at the petite student that spoke. She seemed a bit terrified but stood her ground. "We'll be there soon." Desmond responded for all of them and they girl scurried away.
"Theodore we have to go, we'll catch up later yeah?" That was Desmond. Theodore nodded and they did a bro handshake and hugged. The rest of the guys said their goodbyes to Theodore except Irene of course.
As soon as they left, Theodore took gentle strides to the parking lot where his designated driver parked his Toyota Rav4 2020 model.

Walking into the massive building, the only sound was the clicking of Theodore's shoes against the marble floors and the gentle clicking of plates.
Theodore made his way to the large dining hall where his mum was busy dishing out lunch and the servants running helter skelter doing one thing or the other.
He walked up to her and gave her a light kiss on her cheeks causing her to smile. "My love, how was your day at school?" She asked. He plopped down on one of the dining chairs and dropped his bag by the foot of the chair. He shrugged absentmindedly "My day was okay. I guess."
He picked up a lap of turkey from the big ceramic bowl that held several pieces of turkey. He heard loud footsteps and he turned to be met with his eldest brother rushing down the flight of stairs. A broad smile graced his features as he watched his brother sit opposite his mum.
"Brother Dayo, you're home after eight months." he spoke up. His brother, Dayo chuckled "I came to see you."
Theodore chewed softly on the piece of turkey he had left. "Why would you want to see me?" Theodore asked arching a brow in confusion. "Dad has practically been begging you to come home for months and you returned to see me? This is serious."
"Actually, I was told your nightmares returned." Dayo spoke up sipping from his glass of apple juice.
Theodore paused, dropping the spoonful of rice he made to have when he finished with the turkey. "I'm fine you don't have to check on me." he said in an oddly calm tone. "I know, you're an adult but I just wanted to make sure my baby brother is fine."
"Stop this." Theodore snapped getting up from his seat. "Adewale, your brother wants the best for you. He cares about you." his mum said calling him by his tribal name trying to calm him down but he was having none of it.
"I don't need pity, I'll be fine on my own." he deadpanned and stormed off making his way up the flight of stairs and to his room ignoring the calls from his mum and brother.

After a cold refreshing shower, Theodore was in a much more better mood. He was going through his news feed on Instagram when a WhatsApp message popped up. He tapped on the notification and it was automatically transported to WhatsApp. The message simply read 'Hi'. It was from an unknown number.
Hey, who is this please?
He texted back and sat back waiting patiently for a reply. Few minutes later, a reply came in.
Osaze, just checking on you.
He immediately saved the number and texted back.
Thank you. I'm good. Are you home yet?
The reply that came in was faster than the former.
Just got home. I'll talk to you later. Take care.
He found himself smiling and texted back.
Alright, bye.
He left her thread and went over to viewing the status of those on his contact list feeling lucky about his choice of new friends. Every single one of them made him comfortable. But there was one obstacle, Irene.
He shook his head vigorously as he thought of how much of a drama queen she had been the first day they met.

Walking into the house after a stressful school day, all Irene thought about was her extra soft bed. "Demilade." She heard her mum call out just as she was about to ascend the flight of stairs. She turned with a scowl on her face. "How was school today?"
"Since when did you care?" Irene spat out. "I do care my dear. I have just been so occupied lately." She rolled her eyes. Her mum either didn't see that or she decided to ignore it. "I'm taking you out. Go take a shower and come back downstairs."
"I'm not going anywhere with you." she said and ascended the flight of stairs leaving her mother dumbstruck at the spot at her bluntness.
As soon as she got to her room, she dropped her bag by her reading desk and stripped out of her school uniform and made for her adjoined bathroom for a shower.
Minutes later, she was sprawled on her bed in some comfy clothes going through her government textbook. After about two hours of studying, she decided to go through her social media page.
She saw two missed calls from Desmond and decided to call him back. She had her phone on silent mode at school and forgot to change it later. He picked at the second ring.
"Were you expecting my call?" She asked as soon as she was sure he could hear her.
"Good evening to you too darling." he said and she giggled at his sarcasm. "I'm sorry I missed your call. I was busy and my phone was on silent mode."
"It's no problem, just checking up on you. What goes on?"
She sighed and moved to her dressing mirror taking a seat on the stool in front of it. "I'm stressed. I have a shoot this weekend and the swimming tournament is coming up in a few weeks too. I didn't sign up for all these when I accepted to be the sports prefectsprefects." She ended with an inaudible sigh.
"I can relate Irene." he said with a chuckle. She could picture the light in his eyes as he laughed. The gentle rise and fall of his chest too. A smile also graced her lips. Desmond was someone she cared about. He was her best friend and a brother she never had.
"Don't worry, we'll survive." She nodded even though she was aware he couldn't see her. "Take care okay? I'll see you at school tomorrow."
"Alright. Bye!" She said and hung up.
She stared at her almost flawless reflection in the mirror and what she saw was a strong girl with maddening fame and an exquisite bank account but in reality there was more to it than meets the eye.
Breaking eye contact with her own reflection, Irene made her way out of the room downstairs to eat something before retiring to bed.
