9th November, 2014

It was nearly a month since the happy couple had finally confessed and gotten together. Since then, it had been all rainbows and sunshine for the two. All their family and friends were over the moon for the two of them and everything was better than ever.

"Love, if you don't wake up now, we'll miss our flight," Joseph nudged Adelaide as she turned over to the other side with a sigh and pulled the blanket over her head.

"Go away," she groaned as Joseph nudged her again, causing his to sigh.

"We're going to miss our flight, Del."

"I'm fine with that," she mumbled as Joseph rolled his eyes at her before sighing again.

"Fine, you left me with no choice," he states and in one swift movement, he sweeps the blanket off of her as the sunlight pouring into the room sets over her and causes her sleep to be disrupted.

Adelaide groans in frustration before peeking her eye open to see Joseph stood on the bedside with a grin on his face.

"Good morning," he greets as Adelaide sits up on the bed and huffs at him.

"This is NOT a good morning," Adelaide retorts, "who thought it was a good idea to get a flight at 9?"

"That's what standard times are, love. You can sleep on the 15 hour flight home," Joseph points out as Adelaide glares at him, "now come on, I already made us breakfast," he says before walking out of the room, giving her time to freshen up.

Los Angeles International Airport

"I knew this'd happen," Adelaide sneered as Joseph rolled his eyes at her. After breakfast, Joseph had rushed them to the airport, only to be informed that their flight had been delayed for two hours.

"I could've easily completed my sleep and gotten here but you two never listen to me," Adelaide went on whining.

"Quit it, okay?" William retorted, "there's no way we could've know. Mom's already called me thrice. And you two are annoying me even more."

"What did I do?" Joseph pouts as Adelaide sighs dramatically before laying her head down on Joseph's lap while her feet rested on William's lap.

"Ew, your boots are muddy!" William exclaimed in disgust as Joseph chuckled at the two.

"That's what you get for ruining my sleep."

"But Joseph woke you, not me-"

"Okay, you two need to calm down," Joseph intervenes when he notices other people glaring at them due to their high voices, "it's like I'm babysitting you two."
"We wouldn't know," Adelaide mumbles, "we never had babysitters because Will used to bite them and scare them away. So mom just gave up after a while."

"Oh and what about the time you broke mom's ceramic set and blamed it on the only babysitter I liked, huh?" William retorted as Adelaide kicked him lightly, getting mud on his shirt.

"Okay, you're taking me shopping when we get home," William sneers, "this was my favorite shirt!"

"Whatever," Adelaide dismisses before yawning, "wake me up when we need to go and not a second before, okay?" she threatens as she drifts off to sleep while Joseph runs his fingers through her hair soothingly.

After two hours of waiting, the three had finally boarded their flight and set off in hopes of getting 'home' in 15 hours, to attend a cousin's wedding as well as introducing Joseph to the rest of the family. The plan was for them to spend the entire month there, show Joseph around a little and finally, celebrate New Year's Eve together.

"Who's coming to pick us up?" Adelaide questions as they wait for their luggage to arrive.

"Mom said she's been waiting for over 3 hours now, so I'm guessing it's her," William grumbles under his breath as their suitcases finally arrive.

Joseph stacks all the luggage into a trolley and holds onto Adelaide's hand as they all headed towards the terminal exit. The airport was not any less crowded than usual but everything about it felt different. It had been over 5 years since Adelaide had been home.

After William got into college, their mother moved back to Australia with their step-dad, in order to be closer to the family. Ever since then, it was Adelaide who was watched over William, paid his tuitions and ensured that he never felt alone in the big city.

Although Adelaide would often get tickets for William to fly back home for the Holidays, most times she would be unable to join him due to her hectic schedule over the past years.

This was different for her. Being home after so long- she could only think about all the things that had changed in her life over the past years. Whether it was in her professional life- starring on new shows and being awarded for them to things in her personal life- like finding the love of her life and being happier than ever, she couldn't wait to share is all with her family.

Needless to say, both her and Joseph were nervous. Adelaide knew all her family would love Joseph but it was his nervousness that was radiating off to her. As for Joseph, he was practically shaking out of nervousness. He knew how much Adelaide's family meant to her and he knew how much she wanted for them to like him. He didn't know what to do to get them to like him. With William, it was easy to get along because all William wanted was his sister's happiness. But with the rest of the family, he had more to express. Whether it was about his career, his personality, his own family and whatnot- Joseph was suddenly aware of all his 'flaws' and was worried her family wouldn't approve of him.

Even through all the reassurance Adelaide and William had offered him, he couldn't help but feel unsure and anxious. Most of all, he wanted them to see how much he actually cared for their girl and how head over heels in love he was with her. He wanted them to see how he was ready to give up the world for her- for her happiness, her comfort, for that enchanting smile of hers that made everything better. He wanted to prove to them that he'd love her as much as every family member of hers did.

"Mom!" Adelaide exclaims as she lets go of Joseph's hand and rushes towards a woman Joseph knew to be her mother. She was comparatively shorter than the siblings but had the same hair color as William and a smile very similar to that of the siblings as well.

"Hi honey," the lady mumbled through her tears as she wrapped Adelaide into a loving hug.

"Hey, my turn now!" William joked as him and Joseph approached the ladies and William moved to push Adelaide away and hug his mother instead. Adelaide rolled her eyes at him as their mother chuckled and hugged William in the same loving manner that she had hugged her daughter.

"I've missed you two so much," Momma Brown sniffles as her and William break off from the hug and she wipes some stray tears away, "I can't believe you're really here."

"Missed you too," Adelaide whispers as she too tries to fight new tears, causing Joseph to warp an arm around her in a comforting manner.

His actions were what caused Momma Brown's attention to turn from her kids to the third person present in the group now. She raises a brow while teasingly smiling at Adelaide as a flush of red creeps up on her face in retrospect.

"Oh mom, meet Joseph," Adelaide introduces as Joseph smiles nervously at her, extending his hand for a handshake.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Brown," he greets as Momma Brown walks closer and hugs him, catching his off guard.

"Call me Emily, please," she responds as Joseph hugs her back, feeling slightly relieved by her actions, "you're basically family now. It's nice to finally get to meet you. Adelaide talks about you all the time."

"Ugh, Mom!"

"Only good things I hope," Joseph chuckles as he moves back to Adelaide's side with a genuine smile on his face.

"Definitely," Momma Brown assures, "it's always been good things ever since you joined work with her. No offence but I always knew you two would end up together," he teases as Joseph chuckles and Adelaide looks away in embarrassment.

"I always hoped we'd end up together too," Joseph joins in, "oh and these are for you," he says while handing her a bouquet of sunflowers that he had gotten for her when Adelaide told him sunflowers were Momma Brown's favourites.

"Oh my, thank you so much. These are beautiful," Emily thanks with an impressed smile as Adelaide smiles at the interaction, feeling her heart swell in happiness.

"Ugh fine, this is very cute and all but can we please go home now?" William chimes in with a groan as the others laugh at his words.

"Yes, let's go," Emily agrees as William begins to walk ahead and Joseph pushes the trolley behind them.

"Will, where are your manners?" Emily interrupts as she grabs onto William's arm, bringing him to a halt, "you can't let our guest carry the trolley!"

"Oh no, it's alright-"

"No, it's not," Emily interrupts Joseph as she glares at her son, "Will, bring the trolley to the car," she orders as William sighs in defeat, moving back to take the trolley from Joseph as Emily, Adelaide and Joseph now walk ahead.

Adelaide smirks teasingly at William as he kicks her feet from the back, causing her to stumble a little. Luckily, Joseph was quick enough to catch ahold of her, so she didn't fall.

"You know I can tell what you two are upto, right?" Momma Brown speaks in a stern tone without even looking back at her kids, "excuse them, Joseph. They've always been trouble."

"No worries, I'm used to it now," Joseph chimes in as Adelaide glares at him jokingly.

After exiting the airport terminal, the four got into Momma Brown's car as she drove them to the family home where Adelaide and William had grown up.

Family Home, Sydney, Australia

"So, this is your childhood bedroom?" Joseph questioned as he looked around the room and Adelaide nodded in confirmation.

"It's cute," he added, "and weirdly not embarrassing."

"I was always mature for my age," Adelaide said proudly as Joseph scoffed at her words.

"Or you just got Emily to redo the room after you moved out," Joseph suggested as Adelaide rolled her eyes at him, "you know, I think she liked me."

"I told you she would," Adelaide assured. Joseph smiled at her lovingly before walking up to where she was unpacking their bag and wrapped his arms around her from the behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"One person down, rest of the family to go," he commented as Adelaide turned around to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck with a smile.

"They'll love you too," she assured, "everyone loves you."

"I hope so," Joseph mumbled as his eyes flickered down to her lips and back to her eyes. She smiled back at him as both of them leaned down to capture each other's lips into a loving kiss. Soon enough, the kiss got heated as the couple backed up against the cupboard, not separating from each other's touch for even a second.

Joseph's hand slipped under Adelaide's shirt as she tugged on the hair at the back of his head, earning a moan from him in return. Things were escalating quick and neither wanted to stop. Yes, they had been together for over a month now but they had yet to go all the way with each other. Sometimes, just like now, things would get heated but they never dully went rough with it. Needless to say, both of them wanted their first time with each other to be very special and memorable.

As the kiss went on, it was as though both their minds were foggy and nothing but themselves existed. Neither were thinking of how they were in Adelaide's childhood bedroom or how her family could arrive any second now. All rational thoughts had left their minds that instance.

Until...they heard a knock on the door, causing them to snap out of the trance and exchange a look.

"Who is it?" Adelaide called out as Joseph let go of her and she fixed her shit and hair.

"Everyone's here," William's voice called out, "and mom's calling you two."

"We'll be down in a second!" she responded.

"Alright. Just a piece of advice though, the walls are thin in here and none of us want to hear you both so...you might wanna tone it down while in your childhood family home, Addy," William yelled in a teasing tone as  Adelaide's cheek flushed red in embarrassment.

Adelaide cleared her throat as she turned back to Joseph, "ready to meet the rest of the family?"

"As ready as I'll ever be," Joseph sighed as they intertwined their hands and headed downstairs for more introductions.
