          Mikayla's comfortably lying on her queen sized bed after a long night of wandering around the fairground. she hums quietly, the only sound in the room being her fingernails tapping on her phone screen filling her ears.

          the ride home from the carnival was awkward enough being forced to sit next to chris, in a close proximity that she'd been dreading. it seems like getting over chris may be harder than she originally thought because for some reason whenever she closes her eyes, he's all she sees.

          miks hates that she's so attached to him, but nobody can blame her. it's typical that she was going to fall for one of nathan's best friends, and of course it had to be chris — the 'player'. a loud sigh leaves her lips as she reflects on how stupid she feels right now, letting him do her like that. she now feels bad on how she treated abel and how quick she was to drop him for chris, for them to now barely even text.

          as mikayla continues to scroll on her instagram feed, the lamp on her bedside table casting a warm glow in her room, she listens to her phone ping. mikayla's face scrunches up as she reads a name, not wanting to reply to him. but of course, she just has to. she takes a deep breath before pulling her notifications tab down and clicking on his contact.
