Chapter 6: The Girl Who Became Human

It's a long hallway, with vases of roses, that are withering away. There are massive glass windows, ist beautiful stained glass fogging up the outside world. There are tall iron knight statues lining the halls as I reach the end after minutes of silence. On the floor, there's a dead black cat corpse that looks all too well familiar resting down.

I open a pale pink door and find a messed up bedroom, for a little girl. I walk inside. There's a queen sized bed, with dried up blood stains on the blankets. There are dry bloody footsteps fading into the carpet leading to a table not too far away from the bed. On the table was a half drunk glass of water, with an empty cup besides it. Next to the table was a wooden chair facing the bed.

There was a window next to a small sofa, sunlight barely making its way into the dull room. There's a towel on the floor which is soaked with blood. In the corner of the room is a bookshelf and next to it, is a desk. Rested on top of it, was the diary I kept on seeing all over the house. I flip to the page I haven't read yet.

"My sickness was going to kill me. So...I took her body from her. I lived on in her body. That's fine, right? Because we're "friends". She gave me her body, because we're "friends". So today we should play some more." The page trailed off, but this time the text wasn't written in ink. It was written in blood. "Right...Vanya?"

All of a sudden, there was a crash against the window as something hauled itself inside. My objective. Run.

I run out of the bedroom, running down the lengthy hallways. I notice a hole where you throw down laundry and jump down, ending up in the ash filled fireplace in the kitchen. My heart was beating out of my chest. The thing chasing me crawled itself down the stairs, and all I see of it is a bloody trail and black hair over its face.

I dash across the kitchen, pots and pans clattering against the floor by the magic, as I shove chairs behind me to try and slow the thing down. I sprint as fast as my legs can carry me and see a door, leading to the outside.

The light glows, and I run out of the witch's house.

It started to lightly rain and I kept on running. I finally stopped.

I look behind me to see it. It's eyes are gouged out of its face, and it seems to be crying in pain. Its black hair is messed up and over its face. It's crawling on the floor, legs cut off, and blood streaming behind it.

"Gi...Gi...ith...bax..." It groaned, reaching a hand out to me. I laugh hysterically, and kneel down to it. "You really thought you could stop me...Vanya?" I smirk and pat her head, my braids falling.

"You gave me this body, Vanya. Oh I remember the pity on your face that day!" I cackled, recalling the memory. "Oh Ellen! I'll be glad to trade bodies with you! Just for a day! That is what friends do!" I mocked in a high pitched voice, clasping my hands together. "Such a gullible girl you are. The Majo never had a cure for me! The cure was for me to switch bodies with someone!" I smile, raising my hands into the air.

I let out a sigh, clutching my heart through my dress. "The terrible thing was, for the spell to work, both users must agree to switch bodies. And you, you stupid creature! You agreed!. But don't worry about your precious father. He was a hunter, hm? I'll be sure to give him Vanya's love!" I snicker, wiping a tear from my eye.

"Once I entered your healthy and perfect body, I was never going to give it back! But you said we could trade," I lift up my old dying body's chin, the disgusting body I would have been in if Vanya hadn't agreed to switch. "Because we're friends." I whisper before getting up. "You have some guts to try to kill me though. But it's my house, Yes? It wouldn't be killing me any time soon." I hear footsteps behind me, and look back.

"Vanya! I was so worried about you! I couldn't find you anywhere." The man said, lowering his gun and hugging me. I smile through the cuddle. "Here's the letter. I lost some of it." He says, caressing my cheek lovingly. I nod before screaming and pointing dramatically to my old body. "D-daddy! It's a monster!" I cry out. The real Vanya lets out a muffled, "Dath...Dath..."

Vanya's dad looks at her own daughter trapped inside my rotting body and hides me behind him. "Vanya, watch out back!" He yelled as the crawling and bloody body moved back a little. "Dath..ee...Ith...ne." It gasped."Stand back you monster!!" Daddy shouted as two gunshots echoed through the forest.

There lay the bloody body, shot twice. Dad grabbed my hand, and we left. I look back at a distant rose bush, and it's gone.

I read the letter fully. "Sorry I yelled at you earlier. Stay cautious while going through the woods though. There's a legend that there is a witch in the woods who steals children. Who were you visiting again? Ellen? I"

I let out a soft giggle and followed Daddy home.
