Ratcheting sounds fill the barn as Trevor closes the hood on Ecto-1. A headlight casing falls off. He sighs, picks it up, and walks to the driver's side. He pulls the cover off, revealing all of Ecto-1.
"What a shitbox," Trevor mutters under his breath.
"Whoa, language," Jules says, piping up from behind him.
Trevor jumps a little, turning to see Jules watching him with a smirk. "Oh, Jules, hey. What's up?"
"Nothing much," Jules replies, stepping closer. "I was just helping this guy named Gary with his summer school and hanging with your sister. What's up with you?"
"Just fixing this baby," Trevor says, patting the hood of Ecto-1.
"Well, if you want, maybe we could go out? You can come to Luke's Diner mainly cause he gives me free stuff."
"Yeah, totally. I'd love that. One second," Trevor says.
He heads inside to find Phoebe. "Hey, Phoebe, I'm heading out with Jules."
Phoebe looks up from her book and shouts, "Okay, have fun on your date!"
Trevor blushes, mumbling, "It's not a date."
They make their way to Luke's Diner, where the familiar scents of burgers and fries greet them. Luke, wearing his usual flannel shirt and backwards baseball cap, looks up from behind the counter.
"So, who's this guy?" Luke asks, handing Jules a plate of curly fries and a milkshake.
"Oh, this is Trevor," Jules says with a smile.
"Aaah, so this is Trevor," Luke says, giving Trevor a knowing look. "She talks about you a lot," he adds, winking at Jules.
Trevor grins, looking at Jules. "Does she now?" he teases.
Jules rolls her eyes, laughing. "Ignore him. He's just trying to embarrass me."
"What do you want, kid?" Luke asks, turning his attention to Trevor.
"Fries, please," Trevor replies.
"Coming right up," Luke says, heading to the kitchen.
Jules and Trevor slide into a booth, sharing a smile as they settle in.
Trevor and Jules walked side by side, the sun setting behind them as they made their way back to Jules' house. The evening air was cool, and the streetlights flickered on, casting a warm glow on their path.
"I had a great time tonight," Trevor said, glancing at Jules. "Thanks for inviting me to Luke's. The food was awesome."
"Yeah, Luke's Diner is the best," Jules agreed, smiling. "I'm glad you enjoyed it."
They reached Jules' front porch, and she turned to face Trevor. "Well, this is me," she said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Yeah, this is you," Trevor replied, a hint of nervousness in his voice. He hesitated for a moment before continuing, "I really had fun tonight, Jules."
"Me too, Trevor," Jules said softly. She leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight."
Trevor's face turned a deep shade of red as he stammered, "G-goodnight, Jules."
Jules opened the front door and stepped inside, closing it behind her. She leaned against the door for a moment, smiling to herself. The sound of footsteps approaching snapped her out of her thoughts, and she looked up to see her mom standing in the hallway.
"So, how was your date?" her mom asked with a teasing smile.
"Mom!" Jules exclaimed, rolling her eyes. "It wasn't a date, okay?"
Her mom raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Sure, it wasn't," she said, smirking. "But you do seem pretty happy."
Jules sighed, trying to suppress her grin. "Whatever, Mom. It was just two friends hanging out."
"Uh-huh," her mom said, not entirely convinced. "Well, as long as you had a good time, that's what matters."
Jules shook her head, a smile playing on her lips. "Goodnight, Mom," she said, heading up the stairs to her room.
"Goodnight, Jules," her mom called after her, still smiling.
