⚫️ Chapter 8: Another Look ⚫️

~~~~~~~~~Third Person POV~~~~~~~~~
They had to wait for Aiden's parents' permission to leave this time. Thankfully, they trusted Sage and let him leave as long as they didn't separate.
Once again, they all met up at Ben's house, and they didn't wait much for everyone to arrive. Once everyone was here, Victor turned to Aiden, raising an eyebrow. "So, what happened?"
"I uh.. I saw another memory, of her.." He started to explain, staring at his hands. "I remember following her through some sort of maze that looked like a dungeon.. She brought the other me to a set of doors, and after placing me on the other side, she casted an explosion to block herself and the guards that chased us away from me.."
"Did you happen to see what was behind the doors?" Gia asked as she tilted her head.
His eyes narrowed in concentration, and he soon gave a shrug. "Just forest as far as I could tell, but the doors were above a long set of stairs, so the place we were in has to be underground. The forest was familiar too, it has to be nearby."
"We've searched every inch of the forest, where could that entrance be?!" Noah asked, anger obvious in his voice.
"Well, it wouldn't hurt to search one last time, right..?" Lola asked with an awkward smile, though no one saw the point of it.
With a sigh, Victor stood up from his sit. "Then we better get going."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

They were walking for a while, and although they tried to be as thorough as they could be, none of them expected to find anything different. They had been through this forest so many times, searched at every corner, and gathered anything they thought was important.

Would anything be different now?

At one point, Aiden stopped, and the others did as well in confusion. Sage stood beside him, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. "Babe..? You okay..?"

"Yeah.." He looked around, eyes a bit narrowed, and after a few seconds, he let out a sigh. "Instead of stalking us, maybe you could join the investigation, Ryan."

In response, the redhead man appeared leaning against a tree, arms crossed. "And here I thought I was being stealthy."

"Well it's nice to know we're being stalked!" Lola said, clearly freaked out.

"Wait." Noah's eyes narrowed a bit in a glare. "This is the guy Iv went to talk to about two weeks ago, and now he's stalking us?!"

"Before you say anything, no, he's not the culprit." Aiden spoke, which only caused Noah's glare to be targeted at him instead.

"How can you be so sure?!"

"Ryan's the type of person who always leaves his mark when he does something big. Rob a bank, he'll probably sign his own name on the wall."

"You flatter me, Anderson." Ryan replied as he placed a hand on his shoulder. "But he's right, I have nothing to do with this."

"Not to mention one of the victims is his own sister." Victor added with a serious tone.

With a small growl, Noah looked at the ground. "She said the same thing, and she mentioned your reactions to her questions.. I'm sorry."

"So then, why are you stalking us?" Sage crossed her arms, trying to hide the glare on her face.

"Truth be told, I'm just here to make sure Aiden doesn't walk off anymore cliffs."

"What?!?" Everyone besides the three who knew asked, confused to what he meant.

"I already told you I didn't know there was a cliff there!" Aiden mentioned through gritted teeth, then let out a sigh. "When I was living the memory, I didn't realize my actual body was moving through the forest. If Ryan hadn't been there, I would've fallen off the cliff at the edge of the forest.."

Lola stared at him in shock. "You know, you could've mentioned that beforehand!!"

"I didn't want you guys to worry more than you already are." He explained. "But that should give you another reason to trust Ryan."

With a quiet growl, Sage hugged her boyfriend's arm. "Sure.."

"Guys? His eyes.." At Victor's words, they all turned to Aiden, who's eyes were red once again.

In Aiden's view, however, things had changed. There was a strange path, one made up of footprints. "... I think I found something."

He didn't wait for anyone's argument, following along the path as everyone else followed behind. Not long after, they stopped in a certain spot in the woods, a certain empty area with trees around in a circular shape.

But the footsteps stopped there.

"Find anything?" Asked Victor as he stood beside Aiden, who looked around.

"Well, I can see these footsteps that led to here, but.." He kneeled down on the grass and began to pat around.

And when he did, that pounding headache from before returned once more, forcing him to grip the dirt beneath his hand as his yells of agony surrounded the place.

That is, until his eyes opened once again.

"Another memory..?"

Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
