               A LOUD HUFF leaves mikayla's lips as she sits in an uber with bianca, her eyes gliding over the last couple of messages from the group chat displayed on her phone screen. she rolls her eyes, switching the device off and instead trying to think of anything else. but miks honestly can't because she can't believe that chris thinks of her as some sort of jealous, immature girlfriend just because he's living in la now and she's stuck in boston.

miks has never thought of herself as the jealous type, because she really isn't. but it's just odd how chris felt the need to hide something like this from her, and the fact that she had to find out from his brother in a groupchat rather than chris himself. she rolls her eyes, shoving the device into the pocket of her gray sweatpants.

"ready for operation kidnap jj?" bianca questions miks, snapping her out of her train of thoughts. after the two of them left their waitressing shift with the 'food poisoning' excuse, they created a plan to help jj sneak out for rebecca's party after he called bianca and begged them to help.

mikayla smiles, both of them falling into a fit of giggles at their insane plan to help their friend. "i was born for this b," she jokes as the uber driver pulls into the driveway of jj's obnoxiously large house. the girls both murmur a quiet 'thank you' to him—miks giving the driver a tip—and they stand outside of the house with folded arms.

"okay so lets go over the plan again," mikayla trails off, glancing over at her shorter friend and pushing her hair behind her ear. "since you're the better liar, you're gonna knock on the door and distract his parents?" she asks and bianca nods her head in agreement. "then i'm supposed to climb over the fence to the backyard, use the ladder near their pool and rest it on the roof—"

"throw a couple pebbles at his window to get his attention," bianca cuts her friend off, before she clears her throat and prepares to continue the plan. "then jj climbs out his window and down the ladder, then we make a run for it and call an uber to becca's house," they finally finish going over the steps and a silence falls over the girls.

the plan sounds absolutely insane.

but not impossible.

a wide grin slowly creeps up on mikayla's face and bianca does the same before they do a signature handshake they made a few days after becoming friends. "operation kidnap jj," they say in unison before bianca jogs towards the front door and miks runs to the fence.

there's a couple trash cans in the way and a grimace appears on mikayla's face until she takes a deep breath and places her hands on the lid, using it to climb over the fence. "ew! ew! ew!" mikayla quietly repeats; she swears she felt
something gross touch her hand until she's finally in the backyard.

miks rubs her hands together, trying not mess up her clothes as she has a party to go to, until her gaze falls on the pile of pebbles jj said he'd leave for the plan. her top lip lifts into a sneer as she notices how there are a whole lot of pebbles there, as if he doubts she has the capability to do it on the first try. mikayla carefully picks them up, attempting to not ruin her fresh acrylics and they sit in the palm of her hands.

it took mikayla at least seventeen attempts to hit jj's window.

the blonde boy's face lights up as he opens his window, waving at miks with a wide smile on his face. mikayla waves back before she straightens the ladder she previously set up, giving jj the sign to climb out of his bedroom.

he's in a pair of black sweatpants and a navy shirt that oddly says 'grandpa's team' in yellow writing, but mikayla just chooses to not question it because that's just jj. jj quietly closes the window behind him, holding one of his arms in the air to try balance with the other resting on his backwards cap to stop it from falling as he walks on the roof.

mikayla finds this plan crazy and she can't believe that it's actually working—bianca is honestly a genius for coming up with it while they were on the train together.

jj eventually finds himself firmly on the ground and he adjusts the backwards cap on his head. "knew i could rely on you miks," he hums with a charming grin, messing up her hair with his hands. "lets go!" he whisper yells and the two of them quickly walk back to the fence miks previously hopped over after returning the ladder to its original spot.

jj kneels slightly, giving mikayla the opportunity to place her feet on his knees and easily climb over it. he shortly follows after, the two of them holding hands and running towards where bianca said she'd meet them.

"guys hurry up!" she calls out while jj and miks runs towards them, the trio falling into a fit of giggles. miks holds onto bianca's hand and the three of them run through the road while loudly laughing. "we've got a party to get to!" bianca yells as jj and mikayla cheer.
