Chapter VII
The next evening I was sleeping on Bella's bed after her "date" with Edward while Lola slept with Charlie. Bella was currently on the phone with her mother talking about baseball and boys, my head was laying on her legs as she stroke my back. Then a scent caught my attention, I lifted my head as I growled at Edward who stood silent and still. Bella must've heard my growl as she stood up and saw the Cullen boy herself. "Mom, can I talk to you later?" She said in the phone before handing up and crawling towards him.
"How did you get in here?" She ask him.
"The window." Edward replied.
"Do you do that a lot?" She ask him, clearly not seeing the danger here.
"Well, just the past couple of months." He confessed. "I like watching you sleep. It's kind of fascinating to me." He explains. He sounded like a stalker. Bella seemed unfazed by this.
I watch as he leaned in to place his lips onto Bella's, so far nothing was really happening until he slammed her onto the bed. That's when my protective instinct kicks in as I let out an aggressive bark while standing on top of Bella while Edward pounced away from us. "I'm sorry about him." Bella apologized.
Well I'm not.
"I'm stronger than I thought." Edward said.
"Yeah." Bella said with a sigh. "I wish I could say the same."
Edward looked away from her; "I can't ever lose control with you."
Bella paused before adding. "Hey, don't go."
Edward stood there before complying.
Of course I got kicked out.

The next day Lola and I entertain ourselves by watching Charlie cleaned his shotgun while drinking his can of liquid, Bella then came back with the second can before saying. "I have a date with Edward Cullen."
"He's a little old for you, isn't he?" Charlie questioned her.
"No." She replied. "He's a junior. I'm a junior." Charlie hummed at that. "I thought you liked the Cullens."
"I thought you didn't like any of the boys in town." Charlie shot back before taking a drink.
"Edward doesn't live in town." She told him. Charlie turns to look at his daughter. "Technically. He's right outside.
"He is?" He ask.
"Yeah," She replied. "he wanted to meet you, officially."
Charlie let out a sigh, "All right." He then snap his gun in place. "Bring him in."
"Could you be nice? He's important." Charlie drew an exasperated halo around his head rolling his eyes at his child, he stood up just as Bella brought in Edward. "Chief Swan. I want to formally introduce myself." They shook hands. "I'm Edward Cullen."
"Hi, Edward." Charlie greeted as he remove his hand from Edward. It was clear that he wasn't interested in Edward.
"Bella won't be out too late tonight. She's just gonna play baseball with my family."
Charlie rose his eyebrows as he tried to hide his smirk, "Baseball?" He questioned.
"Yes, sir, that's the plan." Edward replied.
Charlie snorts, "Bella's gonna play baseball. Well, good luck with that." He said with a sigh.
"I'll take good care of her. I promise." Edward promise as he left the door along with Bella before Charlie called his daughter.
"Hey." Charlie called out as he did a hand gesture of something, "Still got that pepper spray?"
"Yeah, Dad." Bella whispered out before following Edward out the door. Bella then waves her hand at us, "Bye guys."
Lola and I barked out our goodbyes at us.
As the door closes Charlie turns to look at us, "Well you guys aren't any help." He told us. I just let out a grumble and lay my head down. "Come on Art, I didn't train you like this." I just snorted while Lola licked my face.

I woke up to the door slamming and the arguing of Bella and Charlie, I heard Lola barking like crazy. I was asleep in Bella's room, the bright hallway light woke me up but it was instantly as I saw Edward packing Bella's clothes for me. I barked at him but Bella shushed me as she helps Edward with her clothes.
"You're not gonna drive home right now. You can sleep on it. If you still feel like going in the morning, I'll take you to the airport." I heard Charlie spoke to Bella.
"No. I want to drive. It'll give me more time to think." Bella argued. "I mean, if I get really tired, I'll pull into a motel. I promise."
"Look, Bella, I know I'm not that much fun to be around, but I can change that. We can do more stuff together." Poor Charlie, I felt bad for him. He just wanted to be a better father.
"Like what?" Bella panted while she said the next words. "Like watch baseball on the flat-screen? Training and playing with Artemis? Eat at the diner every night? Steak and cobbler? Dad, that's you. That's not me." Bella then heads out the front door.
I knew I had to do something and so I let out a whine and grabbed her bags and slightly tugged at it, Bella grabbed her bag while sighing. She crouch down at my level before scratching my neck, "I'm sorry boy, I had to get out of here. To keep you and dad safe." She told me before placing a kiss on my stop.
Charlie then catches up to us, "Bella, come on, I just..." He pauses before adding. "I just got you back."
Bella then stood up to place her hand on the doorknob, she took a deep breath."Yeah, and, you know, if I don't get out now, then I'm just gonna be stuck here like Mom." And just like that she was out of the door.
I let out a high-pitch bark as I scratch at the door, begging for her to come back as she went inside her truck and drove off. I just sat at the door while Charlie head upstairs to bed I supposed.
"Artie, are you going to bed also?" Lola asked me.
"I will. Soon, get some sleep." I replied to her. I laid down at the front down and fell asleep.

One phone call made Charlie sped into the hospital once again, me and Lola stayed with Jacob and Billy until Bella was better and ready to come home with us. When she did come home —me and Lola greeted her with licks and in returns we get pats. The cuts she received had healed but she had a broken leg and needed to wear a cast for a while until the bone heals.
Edward visit her during the night. As usual at this point I was used to it.
Today was prom day —whatever that meant for the teenagers. We waited for Bella to get down the stairs with Lola. Charlie and Edward sat in the kitchen as they stare at one another, almost like they're having a silent interrogation.
We then heard a thud sound the boys got up to see Bella and Lola coming down the stairs, Bella wore a royal blue dress with a necklace around her neck. She was beautiful.
"Alice lent me the dress. The cast is..." She trailed off with a chuckle.
"You're perfect." Edward told her as he turn to Charlie. "I'll take care of her, Chief Swan."
"I've heard that before." Charlie spoke up. Edward opens the door and left the Swans alone. "All right, Bells. I put a new can of pepper spray in your bag." He told her.
"Dad."
"And...Well, you look beautiful." He told her.
Blush started to form on her cheeks, "Thanks." She then wrap her arms around him while he did the same. They broke the hug as she left the front door while closing it behind her.
We just stood there for a good minute as Charlie told us, "Well I guess it's just us then." I let out a ruff as I saw a smile form on Charlie's lips as he and Lola left me.
My life had altered ever since Bella's had came to live with us, I had made it my mission to keep it.
Everything was perfect, nothing could change it.
Right?
End of Twilight.
