Chapter V
The beach was cloudy and cold due to the air and the ocean, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks that protrude out of the water. Most of Bella's friend decided to head out in the freezing water to surf, I wasn't sure why since the water is freezing. But Bella and her friend Angela stayed in the van while I stay with them.
"So, I keep thinking that Eric's gonna ask me to the prom, and then he just doesn't." Angela said to Bella as she scratches my neck.
"You should ask him." Bella told her. "Take control. You're a strong, independent woman." She encourage her.
Angela tilted her head. "I am?"
Bella nods her head. "Yes."
I then saw three men; one of them was Jacob. I imminently jump from the van and into Jacob's arms like I always do, "Hey bud." He greeted as I lay on my back in his arms as his friends started patting and scratching my fur. "Bella!" Jacob greeted her.
"Hi, Jacob." Bella greeted back. "Guys, this is Jacob." Bella introduce her friends to Jacob. He placed me down before sitting next to Bella in the van. "What are you, like, stalking me?" She joked.
Jacob chuckled. "You're on my rez, remember?" He told her. "Are you surfing?"
Bella snorts. "Definitely not." She then handed him those red food she's been consuming.
"You guys should keep Bella company." Jessica spoke up. "Her date bailed."
"What date?" Eric questioned almost in shock.
"She invited Edward." Jessica replied with a giggle.
"To be polite, that's it." Bella informed.
"I think it's nice she invited him." Angela said. "Nobody ever does."
"Yeah, 'cause Cullen's a freak." Mike said aloud. Clearly he's jealous at the girls speaking about Edward.
"You got that right." One of Jacob's friend agreed at that.
"You guys know him?" Bella asked.
"The Cullens don't come here." He replied to her.

An hour has passed as me, Bella, and Jacob walk around La Push. I could see that Bella was thinking about what Jacob's friend had told her — just as I predicted she ask him. "What did your friends mean about, you know, 'The Cullens don't come here?'"
Jacob chuckle. "You caught that, huh? I'm not really supposed to say anything about it" He then threw a tennis ball he found at the van and threw it for me to catch, I imminently caught the ball and gave it back to Jacob.
I wasn't really paying much attention to the story but more into the ball — since K-9's cannot play with toys and such. But Charlie decided to spoil me and actually let me be a normal dog such as playing with toys or letting me run around at the park.
When I return the ball I heard Angela screamed as one of the boys held a seaweed that looked like a snake.

The next day, the worst thing had happened. Lola's owner Waylon had died, some said that it's an animal attack but Lola said that she saw three humans attack him. The police found her at the end of the lake, soaking wet with cuts on her legs. My heart dropped at the sight of her, none of this should've happen to her.
That evening the twins and I watch Lola sat outside the police station, I've never seen her this sad. She was so bubbly and filled with life, now she was dejected as tears stream down her face. "Poor Lola." Hansel commented as he watches Lola who sat five feet away from us, we knew she wanted to be alone.
"Yeah. Nothing should've happen to someone like her." Drake agreed.
I didn't say anything as I stood up and made my wonder towards her. "Lola." I softly call out to her. She sniffles as she turn to eye me, "Oh love, I'm so sorry." I apologized.
She chuckle while sniffling. "You know, he found me when I was only months old."
"I know darling." I told her. "Come let's head inside." She nods as she and I step inside the police station where Bella and Charlie were.
"Dad, I'm really sorry." Bella apologized to her father.
"I've known him going on 30 years." Charlie informed him. They both held onto their hands for a moment. "Don't worry, we're gonna find this thing. Meantime, I want you to carry this with you." He then handed her a can that's called a pepper spray.
"I don't know if you..."
"It'll give your old man some peace of mind." Belle reluctantly took the pepper spray.
We the left the police station to head back home, we both saw an gurney wheeling away a body bag. Lola whined as she place her head on my neck, I hushed her as we jumped inside Charlie's police car as drove away from the station.
As we went inside the house I watch from afar as Lola lay on my bed that was in front of the couch, part of me wishes that I could take away the pain she's feeling. But I couldn't.
I slowly made my way towards my bed, curled up and fell asleep beside her. This is me letting her know that I'm here for her.
