15 days were left for the engagement. After Manik and Nandini met each other they tried to talk whenever they got free. But past 2 days there were no messages and calls from Manik making Nandini sad.

She picked up her phone to check if any messages are there of his, but her friend's message caught her attention.

"Hey! Masters ke admissions start ho gaye hai. Tu lene wali thi toh bata rahi hun. Vaise bhi mujhe toh bhool hi gayi hai tu. Anyways, kisi din milte hai aur sukoon se baat karte hai. Abhi kind off busy. Bye! Good night."

Nandini was surprised and shocked knowing about the admission and also about her way of speaking.

"Agar aaj se chalu huye hai admission that means it will go upto 5 days. Bhagwan ji please ghar walon ko manane ke liye help karna." She prayed and kept her phone aside and decided to speak with her family.

Her mother was cleaning the gas area where as Navya was washing the utensils and her father was busy watching some news.

"Papa...aapse kuch baat karni thi." Nandini said seriously making him mute the channel. He gave his full attention to her.

"Haan beta bolo na." He encouraged her.

"Woh. Mujhe post graduation karna hai." As soon as she said her mother frowned and stood behind her husband.

"Arey! Ab kaisi padhai karni hai tumhe? Shadi hogi kuch mahino mein. Ghar vagera sambhalna seekho woh kaam aayega." Her mother said making her stared at her in disbelief.

"Maa...maine pehle hi kaha tha agar admissions start hote hai toh main karungi apni masters. Aur aapne agree bhi kiya tha." She said in worried tone as she felt they will deny.

"Par beta...shadi hogi tumhari. Kuch mahino mein busy ho jaogi. Kahan padhne ka vakt milega." Her father said calmly making her sigh.

"Papa! Aapne hi sikhaya hai ki jitna padhna chaho padho aur apne pairon pe khade ho jao. Main vahi karna chahati hun. Main shadi se thodi na inkar kar rahi hun." Nandini said holding his hand making him take a deep sigh.

"Par beta, apne parivaar ko vakt nahi de paogi." He said again making her stare at her.

"Main manage kar lungi. Aur aapko pata hai na mera kitna maan hai masters karne ka. Mujhe mauka mila hai toh karne dijiye na. Agar kal ko mujhe mauka hi na mile toh?" She asked with slight tears making his heart pain.

"Par Nandini....." Her mother was going to say something when her father stopped her.

"Shh! Main un logon se baat karta hun. Tum jao so jao. Kal dekhte hai." Saying this he went to his room. Nandini's mother sighed and looked at Nandini in disappointment.

She looked down knowing how difficult it is for her mother to understand and her father to handle the situation.

"Di, chalo. Late ho gaya hai." Navya said and she bobbed her head and they both went to their room.

Next Day

Mr. Malhotra sighed after cutting the call after speaking to Nandini's father.  Today is sunday so they all were at home.

"Kya hua?" Asked dadi seeing his mood off.

"Kuch nahi. Nandini ke pita ji ka phone tha, keh rahe the ki Nandini ko apni aage ki padhai karni hai." All were attentive towards him. Dadi frowned listening him.

"Arey! Yeh aage ki padhai kyun karni hai use? Shadi ke baad kaun sab dekhega?" She asked irritatedly making Manik sigh and concentrate more on them.

"Par, maa usko karni hi hai. Main kya kahun?" Asked Mr. Malhotra making her glare at him.

"Na keh do tum. Baad mein problem ho jayegi agar padhne jayegi toh. Itna toh padh liya aur kya padhna hai?" She said but Manik interrupted her.

"Kya? Aur padhne mein kya problem hai papa, dadi? Aapne hume padhne diya hai uska bhi toh haq hai padhne ka." Listening him Neonika slapped her forehead where as his bhabhi frowned and looked at her husband who was busy in his thoughts.

"Manik...socho, aaj padhne ki zid ki hai kal kaam karne ki karegi. Akhir mein sar par chad jayegi aur main apne parivaar ko bhikarte huye nahi dekh sakti." His dadi said in anger making him frown more.

"Par dadi...uska padhna aur kaam karna humare parivaar ka tootna kaise mumkin hai? Agar Aisha hoti toh aap uske sath bhi aisa karte? Woh bhi ek insaan hai dadi. Uska career use set karna hai. Vaise bhi she is just 21, uski puri zindagi padi hai hath mein. Aur main nahi chahata ki woh apna sapna pura na kare. Shadi ke chakkar mein apne sapne kyun kuchal de woh? Main Nandini ko allow karunga padhne ke liye." Saying this he went out to talk to his father-in-law. Where as dadi fumed in anger and Mr. Malhotra somewhat agreed with Manik.

"Manik sahi keh raha hai maa. Padhne do usko. Vaise bhi 2 saal hi lagenge. Kahan use pahad todna hai." Saying this he went to his room and Neonika followed him. Soon enough even dadi went and Vivek went to his room following his wife Sneha.

As he entered he saw her folding clothes in anger.

"Itna kya gussa?" He asked sitting on the bed making her glare at him.

"Sahi hai aap sabka. Matlab jab maine kahan mujhe padhna hai toh sabne mana kar diya aur ab jab Nandini ne zid pakad li toh usko permission de di. Waah!" She said making him sigh.

"Dekho Sneha, yeh Manik aur uski honewali biwi ke chakkar mein tum mat padho. Tumhe dadi ne padhne nahi diya mere rokne ke bavajud  iska matlab yeh nahi ki Manik apni biwi ke liye kuch bolega nahi." He said calmly making her feel all the more hurt.

"Sahi hai apka. Vahan Manik ki shadi huyi nahi woh apni honewali biwi ko support kar raha hai aur yahan ek aap hai jo shadi hone ke baad bhi meri side nahi leti. Very good!" Saying this she went out on the terrace to get fresh air. Vivek sighed and got back to his work not wanting to think much about her.

Phone Conversation

Manik: Hey! How are you?

Nandini: theek hun. Aap kaise hai? Aur ghar pe?

Manik: thee hai sab. Sorry do din se theek se baat nahi huyi humara. Busy ho gaya tha kaam mein.

Nandini: it's okay. I understand.

Manik: Nandini, aaj papa ne bataya about you wanting to pursue your studies further and we have agreed to it. But just make sure that you take the admission which is closer and not far.

Nandini: Really? I can study further?

Manik: haan.

Nandini: Thank you! Thank you! You know it's my dream to become a teacher. I really want to do masters.

Manik: I'm no one to stop your dreams Nandini. You have your life too.

Nandini's heart fluttered listening him. She took a deep breath and said

Nandini: Thank you. Means a lot.

Manik: Acha listen. Will talk to you later. I'm getting a call.

Nandini: Ji.

End of the Conversation

Nandini smiled brightly listening his words. She went inside and told everyone about it. Mr. Sharma was happy seeing his daughter smiling where as Mrs. Sharma was not that happy.
