After that fateful day, Sylvie's whole life changed, including her dreams and aspirations. She was locked in the farthest chamber of 'The Sanctuary'. Of course, she knew this place... It was her home after all. This chamber was used as a training ground for Sylvie. Because of the holy water flowing there, the grounds couldn't catch fire there. It was obviously the perfect place to find solace and peace in the whole Sanctuary. Sylvie oftentimes came there with her family, especially her elder brother.

(The Chamber where Sylvie was Tied)

Sylvie was tied with chains bathed in spells. She was all alone now. But, her everyday companion soon turned out to be that hoodie wearing guy. He would bring her food and always help her in doing everyday chores. He would never though, open her chains. She was completely trapped.

(Hoodie Guy)

Little by little, Sylvie started getting flashback dreams which would reveal little secrets of the "Cerulean Conflagration". She learnt that her other family doesn't control flames. The prodigy child of that part of her family was also a girl and she was born on the same day as her. She dreamt that her sister lost her parents in a car accident. It was obviously strange because, her 'cursed clan' couldn't die natural deaths... Sylvie couldn't unravel more in her dreams. It was all just shadows which moved...

(Sylvie getting consumed with the memories and powers of the relic)

Just like that, time kept on passing...

"You mean, the hoodie wearing guy will come today too?" Blaze asked when Sylvie finished narrating her tale.

"He isn't here yet and honestly, I'm not sure." She replied.

"But, how'll you eat then..." Blaze was confused and concerned.

"I won't die by skipping one day's meal. Besides, stop calling him 'hoodie guy'... He has a name too. Even if he doesn't exist in this world." Sylvie gave a dry laugh.

"What's his name? And who's he?" Blaze questioned her.

"Mephistopheles. That's his name... And what's he? I'm not really sure. But from what he has told me, he is like a mediator between the God of dark powers and people on Earth who demand that." Sylvie answered.

"He currently exists in a human form with the same name and lives in the church. He has blue, almost purple eyes and raven coloured hair with bluish shades. He always wears a golden amulet. He told me that the amulet helps him in maintaining his human form." Sylvie provided the intel about Mephistopheles.

"Say, Sylvie... Do you remember the day when your entire family was killed?" Rhys spoke for the first time, participating in their conversation.

"How can I forget... It was 25-06-2005. Sixteen years ago..."

"And what's your date of birth?" Rhys asked before Sylvie could further say anything.

"12th of September, 1993. I was twelve then. But, why are you asking these random questions?" Sylvie asked, curious to know.

"Honestly, this is just a hunch... But, Luna had her parents killed in their office on 27-06-2005. Just two days after your family's death. And, Luna's birthday is also on 12th September, 1993... She doesn't use her last name too. Also, she has some blue green crystals which she never takes off from her neck. She took some of those to make this present on our weeding day too." Rhys took out his pendant.

Sylvie and Blaze were shocked to see the similarities. And when they realized what Rhys was hinting, they couldn't believe it. But, what possible explanation could anyone give about the crystal emitting light when coming in contact with the magical chains.

"Are you saying that Luna, your wife, could be my sister?" Sylvie asked, a little giddy, thinking she has a family somewhere, who might know of her existence. Rhys could just nod towards her.

"You've got to tell me all about her... What does she look like? Has she also got everything bluish about her... Just like me? Is she beautiful? Oh my God! Blaze said you were expecting child... What's the gender? The name you decided? Tell me everything... Where'd you find her? Or did she find you? What happened?" Sylvie had tears in her eyes. Obviously overjoyed with the possibility that she has got a sister.

"You need to calm down. Rhys will obviously tell you everything about Luna. And, if it's truly Luna, you've not just one sister but two." Blaze replied. He was a little happy to find this connection between them.

"To your first question... Her name is Luna." A smile automatically made it's way to his face when Rhys took her name.

"And Luna has nothing colourful in her. She has brown hair and dark coffee coloured eyes. Only her favorite colour matches with you. After all, it's blue." Blaze tried to provide his share of information.

(Luna)

"Luna has a sister named Mavis. Where Luna loves monochromes, Mavis is total opposite. She's the walking definition of colours. She looks almost like Luna's twin, though there's two year gap between their ages." Rhys answered.

(Mavis)

"Luna... As in the moon. An Italian and Spanish given name of Latin origin. And Mavis, a name of French origin meaning "songbird". A 'moon' and a 'songbird'... I've two sisters. 'Spirit of the wood' has two sisters... Moon and Songbird... I can't believe it..." Sylvie's hands went up to cover her sobs. It was her tears of joy... Tears, which she had long forgotten to shed.

Tears help us express grief, frustration, or anguish... negative emotions in general. However, there are also situations in which we cry out of happiness - this can be associated with illusion, relief, and excitement, among other emotions. And right now, Sylvie was experiencing the same.

"Not just two sisters. Two brother in laws and one niece too. Rhys and Luna are going to name her Valerie." Blaze smiled, remembering the time when he came to know of this name.

"How did you two meet though?" Sylvie asked, hurriedly wiping her tears. She wanted to catch up to all those times when she wasn't there to see her sister's life.

"Luna is an architect in a very reputed company and Rhys is an interior designer in his own company. The two companies started working on a project together. That's how they came to meet each other." Blaze said.

"She was almost, always there. I initially started talking to her with regards to the project. It went on for months. Somehow, I found myself talking about everything to her with each passing moment. And before I knew it, she was everywhere. No matter wherever I went... It was then, I realized, I was in love." Rhys replied, smiling as he recalled those precious moments.

"So, did you propose right after you came to know it was love?" Sylvie asked. Her curiosity at it's peek. Love, after all, was still strange for her.

"Of course he proposed. Love is beautiful and love is bizarre. Not only was he nervous and overwhelmed by the new subject of his affection, but his brain chemistry was literally changing - resulting in some weird, obsessive behavior. His hormones were wild. It was all thanks to the rush of chemicals and hormones that flooded his brain and body when he fell in love. It left him with feelings of euphoria similar to an endorphin-induced "runner's high." There was nothing he could do about this; love physically and mentally, made him crazy." Blaze narrated his experience of seeing his best friend in love, for the first time.

"So, how did you propose her?" Sylvie asked.

"The moment I realized I was in love... I need not think twice. There was no need to delay, and thus, I decided to propose her right away. I rushed to her company with the ring in my pocket. She was in her own workspace at that time. Conducting a meeting... I just entered and proposed her." Rhys was smiling the entire time. The atmosphere was completely different now. Everything was giddy. And happy...

"What did you say to her?" Sylvie once again, asked.

"Sure, getting down on one knee while holding a ring box sort of says it all. But because the moment you get engaged should be an unforgettable occasion, it pays to have some eloquent words prepared. And Rhys prepared a speech for that too, while sitting in my room. I was his practice partner too." Blaze laughed a little, remembering how Rhys has kept Blaze awake all night in preparing for the proposal. He shut up only after receiving a side glare from Rhys. This made Sylvie laugh too.

"I had to sit down to collect my thoughts a day or two before I plan to ask-even though I didn't think I'll be nervous, when the moment comes, I will be, and chances were slim that I'll be well spoken if I put myself on the spot. Obviously, I had to practice." Rhys defended himself.

"So, you just barged in there and suddenly proposed?" Sylvie was full of questions. Blaze nodded with vigour to that. Obviously laughing. He got a glare from Rhys, once again.

"I said,

That's what I said to her..." Rhys was completely smiling contended, to have such beautiful memories with Luna.

"I'm sure... With a gesture like that, Luna must have accepted on spot. Even though, you guys never talked about dating and all." Sylvie asked excitedly. On this, Blaze couldn't control his laughter anymore. He burst out laughing. Sylvie was looking at him quizzically.

"Fortunately, she declined right away by saying 'No'. Nothing more, nothing less. And, Rhys, was waved out of the conference room minutes later. Like what would you expect... He practiced so long and came up with that?" Blaze replied, wiping some tears of laughter. Of course, he received another glare from his best friend.

"That's sad... What happened then?" Sylvie asked with sympathy, imagining how bad Rhys must've felt.

"Oh... Don't be sad. Rhys didn't loose hope and kept following her after she went out of the room. It continued for days until, one day Luna completely slammed the company's door on his face." Blaze replied with humour.

"That must've felt horrible. Then, how'd you two get together?" Sylvie asked, her curiosity rising even more.

"Our lover boy played the oldest trick on her... He started playing indifference towards her. Always ignoring her. It went to such an extent, that he didn't even come personally to see the inauguration ceremony of the hotel, the project both the companies were working so hard for. Of course, it started getting Luna troubled. She did like Rhys and his presence after all... She tried to get in contact but, Rhys didn't let that happen. Money does give you some upper hand..." Blaze finished.

"Luna finally wrote a love letter to me one day... It was just another painful day where I thought that I would've to live without her for the rest of my life. Suddenly, I received a letter. So typical of her. Writing me a love letter..." Rhys was obviously giddy remembering that day when he received it.

"What was written there...?" Sylvie asked.

"It read as :-
'Why aren't you coming to your company?' That's all... I don't know why but, Rhys mistakes that letter to be a love letter till this day." Blaze shrugged.

Even Sylvie found herself laughing at this. Never did she think Rhys to be a person this idiotic.

"It was a love letter... Okay? Or else why would she write it... She could simply send one of my employees with that message." Rhys defended his stance.

"He replied to her letter by emailing her. Asking why does it matter if he's not available in his company. He's the boss after all." Blaze informed Sylvie.

"She couldn't contain it anymore and she finally sent me a real love letter. It read as :-

'๐™ธ ๐š•๐š˜๐šŸ๐šŽ ๐šข๐š˜๐šž... ๐™พ๐š”๐šŠ๐šข? ๐™ธ'๐š– ๐šœ๐š˜๐š›๐š›๐šข ๐š’๐š ๐š’๐š ๐š‘๐šž๐š›๐š ๐šข๐š˜๐šž. ๐™ผ๐šข ๐š‹๐šŽ๐š‘๐šŠ๐šŸ๐š’๐š˜๐š›, ๐š๐š‘๐šŠ๐š ๐š’๐šœ..."

"That's all?" Sylvie quizzically looked at Rhys.

"Marriage is a union of two people, marriage becomes a life of two births. Everyone wants their lover to propose to them differently and say that 'will you will marry me?' If Rhys was that vague with his proposal, why should Luna be romantic?" Sylvie got a pat from Blaze for her question.

"But, that's not a letter..." Her eyes were pure curious. Rhys had no option but, to glare at Blaze for always misleading things. It was a love letter for him after all.

"Let it be. You know I emailed her after her letter asking was she serious and if she was serious why does she love me... And you won't believe she said something so beautiful and heart touching at that...

'๐šˆ๐š˜๐šž ๐š–๐šŽ๐šŠ๐š— ๐šœ๐š˜ ๐š–๐šž๐šŒ๐š‘ ๐š๐š˜ ๐š–๐šŽ. ๐™ธ ๐šŠ๐š– ๐š’๐š— ๐š•๐š˜๐šŸ๐šŽ ๐š ๐š’๐š๐š‘ ๐šข๐š˜๐šž. ๐š‚๐š˜, ๐š•๐šŽ๐š'๐šœ ๐š๐š˜ ๐š๐š‘๐š’๐šœ ๐šŠ๐š๐šŠ๐š’๐š—... ๐šƒ๐š‘๐šŠ๐š ๐š’๐šœ ๐š’๐š ๐šข๐š˜๐šž'๐š›๐šŽ ๐šœ๐š๐š’๐š•๐š• ๐š’๐š—๐š๐šŽ๐š›๐šŽ๐šœ๐š๐šŽ๐š. ๐™ฟ๐š•๐šŽ๐šŠ๐šœ๐šŽ ๐š–๐šŠ๐š›๐š›๐šข ๐š–๐šŽ?'

That's how it was..." Rhys answered.

"If you're wondering how he remembers such a LOVE letter... Let me tell you, he has the letter framed in his office and home. He has read it almost thousand times... And still reads it oftentimes." Blaze patted Rhys's shoulders saying this. Sylvie smiled in understanding posture.

"What happened after that though?"

"He went to her office and barged in her meeting once again with his ring." Blaze again received a glare for his sarcastic tone.

(Luna's Engagement Ring)

"With another speech?" Sylvie asked.

That's all. You can't say it was a speech." Rhys looked offended as both of them started laughing.

"Say... How was your wedding?" Sylvie asked once she was settled.

"His wedding was very colorful because Mavis was the organizer. The path to the alter was decorated with rose gold theme. And the alter had darker purple shades. Since, Rhys had bought an exaggerated ring for engagement, Luna wanted to keep her wedding rings simple. He had to settle in her rings and dress. She was so less made up on her wedding, you could say that the guests looked much more into the wedding than the bride." Blaze recalled those moments.

"It's so fresh in my memory... Luna walked down the aisle with Blaze's father in her simple white wedding dress. Blaze was my best man and Mavis was her maid of honor. Mavis, obviously was wearing a dress which contained almost all the colours nature can provide. It was all a fairytale. Mavis made sure of that. Even our cake and bouquet was straight out of fairytale." Rhys said, wiping some of the tears which had slipped while remembering that day.

"I wish I were there..." Sylvie replied looking towards the ceiling.

"Don't worry. You have to attend Mavis's wedding and Luna's baby shower too. They're pending after all. So, help us in finding a way out of this Sanctuary." Rhys said.

"I will get you out. Whatever it takes. I'll live and leave... But, for that, you'll have to tell me what went wrong with you and Luna. Why'd you come here?" Sylvie spoke with determination.

Pheww... That was the longest chapter so far. I don't know how I did it. But, why not.

So, did you like Rhys and Luna's love story? Also, what are your thoughts of finding out about Luna and Sylvie being related?

And about the hoodie guy... Let me give you some information from where I found out him.

โ€ข Mephistopheles

-> Exists in a human form with the same name and lives in the church.
-> Male
-> Blue, almost purple eyes and raven coloured hair with bluish shades. He wears a golden amulet.

-> The name Mephistopheles is associated with the Faust legend of an ambitious scholar, based on the historical Johann Georg Faust. In the legend, Faust makes a deal with the Devil at the price of his soul, Mephistopheles acting as the Devil's agent.

Although Mephistopheles appears to Faustus as a demon - a worker for Lucifer - critics claim that he does not search for men to corrupt, but comes to serve and ultimately collect the souls of those who are already damned. Farnham explains, "Nor does Mephistophiles first appear to Faustus as a devil who walks up and down on earth to tempt and corrupt any man encountered. He appears because he senses in Faustus' magical summons that Faustus is already corrupt, that indeed he is already 'in danger to be damned'.

Mephistopheles is already trapped in his own Hell by serving the Devil. He warns Faustus of the choice he is making by "selling his soul" to the devil: "Mephistophilis, an agent of Lucifer, appears and at first advises Faust not to forego the promise of heaven to pursue his goals".
________________________________
As you can see he isn't a bad character. He's just doing his job...

So, what do you think of the chapter so far? Let me know. We would know what happened with Rhys to loose control and raise his hands against his wife.

Till then, take care of yourselves and people around you. It's really becoming more and more necessary with each passing day...

And for those, who yet don't know... An Open Egress qualified round two of Open Novella Contest (The reason why I'm trying so many updates in a week is to complete the book as well as the 20k word count)... Wish me luck.
