A few months after that, Shanks had to leave again. Luffy, being the stubborn kid he is, tried convincing him to take both me and him along. It didn't work. And in an attempt to show that he was brave and worthy of going, he stabbed himself. 

Yes, you heard me right. Stabbed himself right under the eye. 

Oh, he had me and Shanks so worried. But in exchange of it he got a cool scar. A deep crescent one, which Makino had to stitch up since he was bleeding. 

Later after that, a mountain Bandit came in the bar, searching for booze. Because Shanks and his crew were celebrating, there was only one unopened bottle left, which Shanks offered as an apology. But instead of him taking it, he broke it, spilling it all over Shanks and humiliating him. That pissed me and Luffy off. And Luffy decided to take revenge. 

In short, it didn't go well. Luffy got kidnapped by the captain of the bandits and got thrown into the sea. I wasn't there with him, and I regret it. Shanks went to save him, but came back without an arm because of the sea king. 

Shanks had to leave after that, and Luffy promised to become a great pirate. The king of the pirates. And as proof to this promise, Shanks gave Luffy his beloved hat.

"What's wrong with being king of the pirates grandpa? Pirates─ are cool!" 

"And what makes you think I care?! 

"I'm gonna─ slap you!" 

"Grandpa, please be careful with him.." 

"Oh Y/n.. How do you deal with this kid? It's as if eating a Devil Fruit wasn't enough trouble for him! Now he's full of this 'king of the pirates' nonsense! You, Luffy, and your big brother Ace are going to be fine Marines! You hear me?!"

Garp, the Hero of the Marines. Strangely enough, he had been very understanding and accepting of my situation. When he first came, he was surprised to find out that my mother was the infamous M/n L/n. But he later spoke with Makino-san, and he came to accept me. He would, at times, mention that he wouldn't mind having someone as caring as me as his daughter in law. Though, I didn't understand what those words meant, they sounded like something good. 

'I mean.. I'm gonna follow Luffy because I need to take care of him. I don't know who Ace is, however. '

Grandpa Garp, Luffy's grandpa, had Luffy hanging from his cheek as he held it. Because Luffy had eaten a Devil Fruit, The Gomu Gomu no mi or the Rubber fruit. He became like rubber. Resulting in him being able to stretch at inhumane lengths. He was currently bouncing up and down because, since he's rubber, his cheek would stretch then withdraw, causing him to go up and down repeatedly. 

"Oww! You suck! I thought I was made out of rubber now! Why does this hurt so much?!" Luffy complained. 

"I thought leaving you in that Village would keep you safe but no, these damn pirates won't stop until they get their hands on everything! I forbid you of speaking to that Red Hair Shanks, he's a terrible influence!"

"No he's not! He's awesome and I'm gonna be just like him!"

I stepped out of the way as Luffy grabbed onto a tree. The tree got dragged out of the ground and hit Garp on his head, but the tree itself broke in half. 

"Oh yeah?!"

"Hey what's this dump?" Luffy asked, looking up at the place.

"Luffy! Be nice!" I said, shifting my eyes from the place as well and hitting the back of his head. "Oww! Y/n that hurt!"

*Knock Knock Knock*

... 

*Knock Knock Knock Knock Knock*

... 

*Knock Knock Knock Knock Knock Knock Knock Knock*

"HEY SHUT THE HELL UP! WHATEVER IT IS YOU'RE SELLING I DON'T WAN'IT!" A large woman with long, curly, orange hair opened the door and yelled. She had golden round earrings with small pearls at the end, and a cigarette in her mouth. Her shirt was a white button-up one, with a large red pearl necklace, a leather belt, and green pants. 

"Dadan!" Garp-san yelled, and the woman froze, blinked twice, and stepped back in fear. "G-Garp! What are you doing here?!"

Two other people showed up from behind the curtains, both dumbfounded. 

"Charming as ever.." 

I decided to follow Luffy, noticing that he had decided to run around, exploring the place.

"Hey, speaking of brats,can you shut that one up?" The woman said as she pointed at Luffy. He had been running around, I only walked behind him. 

"He's yours now. Both of them. Hey Y/n, Luffy, tell them hello." Garp said as he grabbed Luffy from the back of his shirt and gently pushed me forward with his other hand. 

"Yo!" 

"..Hello."

"Who are these kids?"

"They're my..grandchildren. This is Monkey D. Luffy, and this is Y/n L/n."

".. WHATTT?!!"

"I'VE NEVER HEARD OF ANY OF THIS!" 

"AND YOU WANT US TO TAKE CARE OF THESE LITTLE MONST-DARLINGS, I MEAN!"

"WELL NO WAY!" The three of them screamed in unison as they kneeled on the ground. 

"Fine then. I'll give you guys a choice; either you take care of them or you go to prison for life. There are many crimes you've made that I've overlooked. It's up to you." Garp said, crossing his arms. 

"Frankly, if you ask me this on one of Ace's bad days I might just want to go to prison."

"Yeah, and taking care of three brats? These two look like real charmers too." Dadan said, looking at us. 

"Bleh! Like your face!" Luffy said as he pulled his lower eyelid down and stuck his tongue out. 

"You wanna fight, you little punk?!" Dadan screamed, glaring at Luffy. " Luffy! Be polite!" I said as I hit Luffy once more. He just ran off complaining. 

Suddenly, someone spat on Luffy's cheek. ".. Eh? What is this?" Luffy muttered as he touched his cheek. "Ew! It's spit! That's gross," he looked around, frowning. "Who did that?!" 

I looked around as well. And although it was hard to see, I saw him. Sitting on a rock, holding a metal stick and with a constant frown on his face. Freckles decorated his cheeks, and his hair was wavy and smooth. Crossing his arms, he just stared. A certain glint in his eyes. 

"Hey you jerk," Luffy must've spotted him as well. "You better apologize for that!" He yelled.

Nothing. 

"There he is!"

"Hey! I'm waiting!" 

"I'm sorry, but could you apologize? That was a bit rude." I said, looking him straight in the eye. 

"Y/n, Luffy. This here is Ace. He's three years older than both of you. You'll both live here with them now."

Luffy just glared at Ace, and Ace glared back. Garp-san hit Luffy at the back of his head, knocking off his hat. "Behave!"

"Hey! We never agreed to anything!" 

Garp-san turned his head slightly, glaring at them from the corner of his eye. "It is decided." 

"Yes sir!" 

"Well, time to hit the road. I'll stop by when I have time."

I followed Luffy into the house, and Luffy tried following Ace. The room was dark, and it was hard to see. Suddenly, someone put an arm around me and Luffy, his other hand holding a knife, which he held close to our necks. Too close for comfort. 

"Who are you?" His gruff voice asked, intimidating us. 

"Woah-hey! Let us go!" Luffy yelled, his voice showed fear. 

More bandits approached giggling and laughing maniacally. 

I opened my hand, opening a portal under me and Luffy and teleporting us behind them. Luffy fell on his butt, but I landed on my feet, so I stayed in front of him. One hand reached out behind me in a protective manner. " Whoever you are, stay away from us." I said in an intimidating tone. 

"H-hey! They teleported!" He yelled, his eyes wide open. 

"What do you want from us?" I asked, glaring at them. 

"H-hey! Dogra! Who are these kids?"

"They're Garp's grandkids. At least the boy is."

"Huh?!"

"And they're both staying with us from now on." Dogra finished. And cue the shock. "You accepted?!" "This isn't a daycare!" "The boss has no guts!" 

"Oh zip it you all! Dinner's ready! You can argue when you're done!" Dadan yelled, setting down a huge basket full of meat and moving aside. "Food!" The bandits praised, grabbing forks and knives and literally jumping and attacking the food. 

Using my powers, I teleported a piece of meat to my hand, thinking Luffy would get one too. He got pushed aside, and the last piece of meat was taken by a dog. "Hey! I want some meat!" he yelled. I walked over to him and reached my hand. He grabbed it and I pulled him up.  "Here Luffy," I said, extending the meat. "you can have it.". He grabbed it after hesitating a bit, and ate it.

In the end, I got a small bowl with a small portion of rice. I ate it in one go. Luffy frowned. "Hey pops, can she have some more?" He asked, and I giggled. 'He called her 'pops'!' I thought as I laughed. 

"I'm a woman thank you very much! Do you even know where you brats are right now?!" She asked after taking a bite off of the meat on her hand. 

"Um.. According to Garp-san, you guys are mountain bandits right?" I asked.

"Mountain bandits? Bleh, mountain bandits are lame." Luffy commented, a bored look on his face.  Suddenly, Dadan stabbed a knife into the wooden floor. "While you're stuck with us−or rather we're stuck with you thanks to that pushy grandfather of yours. Whenever you two get tired of living here you can leave 'cause that's fine by me! Go get eaten by a bunch of wolves for all I care!" She yelled, veins popping from her forehead. 

"Easy boss, easy! "

"From now on, you both will do chores, and only have one bowl of rice and one cup of water per day. If you wanna survive, you'll have to grow up real quick." She said, her mouth twisting into a smug smile as she looked at us pitifully. 

"Oh. Well that's fine by me!" I said, smiling at her. 

".. What?! You mean you're not gonna beg for mercy?!" Dadan yelled, falling over.  "Well, Garp-san used to throw me and Luffy into the forest so we would know how to survive. Plus, it's good to know I can get useful around here! That makes chances of me getting banned even smaller!" I giggled looking at her. It wasn't a lie though, since Garp-San said my full name during our introduction, she'll either realize it later or is hiding her realization. But if I make myself useful, she might not want to throw me away just yet, which means I can stay with Luffy continue to be his friend! Maybe even Ace's too! 

"That's fine by me too! Since I'm gonna be a pirate, I gotta be real strong! This'll be real fun, especially since Y/n's here! Shishishi!"

Ace got up all of a sudden, grabbed his metal stick, and walked out. 

"Hey, where's he going?" Luffy asked, turning to me. "No clue Luffy." I answered, shrugging. Luffy jumped up and grabbed my hand, pulling me up and dragging me behind him as he followed Ace. Dadan yelled incoherent words at us as she crouched on all fours. Her head bleeding as a result of falling over.

Luffy paused, then opened the door and continued to follow Ace, not letting go of my hand. "Hey! Wait for us! Hey!" He yelled, and Ace turned around, an annoyed expression on his face. Luffy let go of my hand, now waving his arms, "Hi, my name's Luffy! Everything's cool now," a smile grew on his face. "I'm not mad at you for spitting on me anymore! It's not worth getting bent out of shape, I'd rather be friends! Can I come with you?" He giggled, a sincere laugh.

Ace kicked a tree, catching both of us off guard. He broke the tree in two kicks. And the tree rolled down the hill. 

I opened a portal to save myself and Luffy,  but it didn't reach him. I fell out next to Ace, and watched as Luffy screamed and ran away, trying to get far from the tree. 

"Luffy! Damn it, he was too far!" I said, worried he would get seriously hurt.

He ran into a dead end, and ended up getting run over.

"Luffy! Are you al-?!" 

"You. How did you get here? How'd you open that portal?" An unfamiliar voice asked. "Huh? Ace, was that you?" I asked, my face twisting into pure confusion. 'Did he just speak? I thought he couldn't!' A tick mark appeared on his forehead. "Yes that was me! There isn't anyone else here with you dumbass!"

"Oh." I murmured. "..I have powers, I think they're Devil Fruit powers from what Shanks told me." I said before running down the hill.

I checked up on Luffy, and when I looked up, Ace had left.

We ended up following Ace for the whole day, and got lost. Because the place we were in was too far away and I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings,I couldn't teleport us back. 

We were lost for a while. And I don't mean a few hours or two days, no. I mean a whole week according to Dadan. I was unconscious due to using my powers too much in order to get food, water, and teleport us out of danger. Not to mention having to run all the time with barely any time to rest, worrying about wolves. 

From what Dadan told me, Luffy arrived carrying me on his back. Both of us were bleeding and bruised. It made sense however, although I acted mature, Luffy was older than me, older by a few months and a few days, but still older. 

When I woke up, Luffy had left yet again chasing after Ace. I, on the other hand, decided to help around. 

"Excuse me, Dadan-san, what can I do to help around?" I questioned, Dadan stared at me, surprised. "I-I'm sorry? But you were busted up yesterday! Also, why aren't you as stubborn as Luffy? He hates chores!" She yelled, obviously confused. "I'd prefer helping out, we are barging in after all. Plus, I don't mind helping with chores, as long as I'm useful." I said, smiling. 

"You're strange.. I like you. You are.. Y/n, right?" 

"Y/n L/n, ma'am." 

"Hmm.. L/n..? Wait, you don't mean the infamous pirate's last name, M/n L/n, do you?!" She screamed. 

"Yes.. I do mean that." I answered, looking down to the ground. 

".. Has Garp gone insane?! First he leaves me with the son of the Pirate King, and now the child of one of the most infamous pirates in the world?!" She freaked out. " I'm sorry.. I'll go do chores now." I said as I walked off. 

"No, wait.. It's alright. It's not your fault you're her daughter." She said, and I smiled lightly at her, grabbing a broom and beginning go sweep the ground.

It went on like this for three months, until Luffy woke me up himself.

"Y/n!! Wake up!! You have to come with me this time! You promised you would!" He said shaking me. I groaned. "..Luffy, I need to do chores. How 'bout tomorrow?" I asked, my eyes opening and closing on their own. "No! You promised so you're coming with me! Today!" He said, continuing to aggressively shake my arm to the point he was moving my whole bed. "..fine. But only today, then I go back to chores." I said. "Just give me five more minutes.." I attempted to mutter. He refused, pulling my covers off. I shivered and hugged myself, sliding my knees close to my chest. The warmth of where the blanket once was now disappearing slowly.

He successfully pulled me off my bed. Forcing me to stand. "Hurry up Y/n! Ace is gonna leave any minute!" He whined, staring at me with pleading eyes. 'Damn it. Not the eyes..! The eyes are my weakness!' I thought, forcing my neck to turn the other way, trying to ignore it. 

I failed. 

I pushed him out of the room and dressed myself. Now wearing a red shirt and grey, baggy jeans shorts. I opened the door again and he grabbed my hand, pulling me out of the house and into the forest.

We followed Ace, avoiding traps he'd make as he ran and using sticks for support when our legs felt weak. It took long, but we made it. We had made it to the end of the forest. 

"Woah! What is this place?!" Luffy yelled, reflecting my thoughts.

"This place.. it's full of trash!"
