3. My Love

Have you ever wondered what would have happened if one particular thing in your life didn't? Of course, you have! In my life that particular thing was the time I fell for him. It had been a week since he'd started following me all around the campus. From Library to Physics lab, he went with me everywhere. I was sure he was missing his lectures because of me. Whenever I turned around, he was always there and when I left for my flat, he'd give me that cheeky smile before going his way.

I was in my history class, Betty was absent, so it was almost better than usual. He was sitting on the seat behind me and poked me with the back of his pencil at every chance he got. I gave him numerous glares and even slapped his hand away, but he wouldn't stop. Once the class was over, he didn't wait for me like every other day making me a little suspicious of his intentions as I left the class.

When I went out, he was nowhere to be seen so I headed straight to the library not thinking much about it. I wish I had stayed there instead. As soon as I chose a book and sat on one of the chairs, I was greeted with the familiar olive-green eyes and sweet voice, "I knew you'd come here!" he had a grin on his face symbolising his triumph.

I had tried my best to ignore him while he tried his best to talk to me, "can you please stop doing that?" I groaned, rolling my eyes at him and he sighed back. I can still clearly see him throwing his head back and dropping all his weight on the chair in frustration. I felt the world fade away as I looking in his eyes, the time slowed down and butterflies went mental in my stomach.

Soon, I had seen a smile forming on his face, he must have noticed me getting uncomfortable, "doing what?" He asked innocently, "I don't know what you're talking about," he had scrunched his nose, his eyes looking directly in mine as if he was challenging me. I had opened my mouth to answer but close it as soon as my phone buzzed. I had recieved a call, the caller id was, My love <3. I had gotten up from my chair and went out to recieve the call, a smile on my face as I picked it up.

I had thought he'd think it was my lover but Oh how wrong I was! Unknown to me he'd quietly followed outside, listening to the conversation. I still don't know why I fell in love with that man...

I had eaten the breakfast, which was surely not cooked by my liar-father. Once I had loaded the dishwasher with all the dishes, I logged into my office's website to complete some work that was due Tuesday. Ironic how there was a time when I used to be free all week and now I can't even get a day off on Sundays. And how at that time I would have done anything to get some work and now this work have no value. Same as people in our life, we don't understand their value untill they've left.

I just started to type but my phone didn't like that, it rang and the caller id was My love :). I sighed, picking up the phone, a smile making its way to my face as I did so, "Finally got time to call?" I taunted and heard the melody like laughter on the other side. Similar conversation had happened that day.

I had answered the call with the huge smile plastered on my face, "Hello!" I greeted cheerfully, "How are you?" I was so excited.

"I've been amazing Chaitra! How were you?" She questioned, the same tone of excitement was present in her voice. She was Ainat, my best friend and my soulmate. It had been weeks since we've actually called each other, all the conversations we had were exchanged by texts.

I sighed at her question, "I'm great too!" I answered, "but remember the guy I told you about? He's being an ass!" I complained as if he was a student and she was out teacher. In response, I heard a laughter from her. I pouted, not caring that she couldn't see me.

Once she was done with laughing at my problem and had calmed down, she spoke again, "It's that Oleander right? I think you should talk to him," she suggested and I knew it was the worst suggestion. It was better to ignore the topic, so I did just that.

I shook my head, totally knowing she can't see me, I wouldn't have dared if she could, "How's everyone there?" I asked her. I knew her family pretty well as she lived near my father's in-laws. That was actually how the two of us met for the first time. I was visiting India with my parents and we were staying there when she'd came there, to get some doubt clarified from my 'maternal uncle' as he was their history teacher. He wasn't home so I had tried to help her and we've bonded instantly, though I still couldn't make her understand the importance of writing manuscripts.

I heard her chuckle, "changing the topic I see," I knew she was going to tease me so much when she'd visit Doncaster the next time, "everyone here is good. Mum's still always complaining about the kids ringing the doorbell and running away while Dad is planning to retire next month," she informed, "I even got a call from Uncle Josh," she said and I knew where this was going, "he told me to convince you to visit your Mum next month instead of him." I heard some commotion in the background, she might be leaving for her University.

I sighed, "he always does that," Papa always tried to convince me, he still does, "so you gotta leave now?" I guessed and she hummed from the other side, "Alright then, bye!" I said and she muttered farewell before we hung up and I turned around to meet those Olive green eyes and the stupid smirk.

He'd looked at me for several seconds, "talking about me to your best friend?" He raised his eyebrows at me, "better than you actually talking to me." I wished, still wish, I could slap that smirk off his face. From then on, our relationship had taken a turn, a turn of 180°.

I got out of my thoughts as the laughter from the other side stopped, "I always have a lot of time for you sweetheart," he said in his stupid Russian accent and I could hear the smile on his face.
