[TRIGGER WARNING : BLOOD AND GORE]

───※ ·❆· ※───

The girls and Sam had all been in their respective rooms when the light started flickering. Poppy frowned looking up at the lights before climbing out of bed and tucking her phone in her back pocket.

"Are we having a power outage?" Stella asked as they all gathered in the living room of the suite. Poppy wasn't scared however because Oliver always made her watch horror films and she knew

"How does that even happen here?" Aisha questioned looking at the lights which would stay on for a few seconds then repeatedly flash.

"Well, it shouldn't." Terra shook her head before explaining, "Alfea's an outpost. The electricity it runs on is magic. Beneath the school. are energy wells designed by..."

"Yeah, I'm gonna skip the history lesson and check it out." Sam nodded.

"Oh no you don't, batman," Poppy grabbed him by the ear as he started to walk to the door and pulled him back, "You need to stay here with them." Poppy gestured to the other girls who all frowned knowing that only the two eldest earth fairies could leave.

Sam grabbed his ear and quizzed his sister, "Why can't you?"

"Because I'm older." Poppy said with a smug smile.

Sam rolled his eyes, "That's stupid, I'm going."

Poppy stepped in front of him whispering the words the three siblings had always used with each other, "My brother, my responsibility." Poppy spoke softly grabbing his face in her hands and kissing his temple.

Poppy moved to the door but was stopped as Sam grabbed her and pulled her back. It was like this never ending tug of war between the two.

"My sister, my responsibility." Sam retorted equally as quiet knowing she could no longer argue with him now that he had used her own words against her. Two was better than one anyway. The siblings engaged in a tense stare before Poppy nodded.

They both didn't look back as they marched out through the door with no effort and into the hallway. The lights remained flickering as they walked round corners, staying close to each other. Poppy started to hear the whispers again but there were too little plants for her to make out anything.

She didn't know that they were warning their mother, for the power in her was much like a reborn Mother Nature. She didn't understand what they were saying so she ignored all the whispers and carried on with her brother. The power in her stirred and she could feel herself getting jittery.

"Hello?" Sam called out into the corridors. The lights turned off for what seemed like permanently.

Poppy smacked his arm and hissed, "Well done, doofus," she smacked him upside the head for good measure, "I've seen way too many horror films to know that as soon as you call out, the murderer comes to kill us!"

Sam rolled his eyes but they both wearily eyed around the halls. It was too quiet. No chattering. Nothing.

The lights flicked on and both siblings turned around from the corner and eyed the lights suspiciously. This was like that film The Shining which Oliver had made her watch. Sam was the first to turn around and screamed out in pain and terror as a burned one slashed across his stomach, he dropped to the floor.

Poppy screamed as well and threw her arms out trying to feel for any earth but she was too far, there were only potted plants and they were on window cills, they couldn't contain a burned one even if they tried. She had no time to think as the burned one reached for her and slashed across her thigh, imbedding a deep wound. Poppy fell to the floor next to her brother who was clutching his stomach. Both sat slightly against the wall as the burned one approached, the monster reached out to finish the girl, sensing her dangerous power but before it could both siblings fazed through the wall making it cry out in anger.

The sound echoing around the whole school. Not only alerting the students but the other monsters.

Even if they were both in immense pain they heaved each other up from the floor and fazed through each wall. Any dorms they passed through were empty which made her wonder why wasn't her dorm told or evacuated.

The siblings had an arm wrapped around each other whilst their free hands clutched their wounds trying to prevent the gushing blood but doing little good. When they finally reached her dorm both could've never felt more relieved. Poppy already felt light headed from blood loss and Sam wasn't even walking on his own. All his weight was on his sister who pushed them both through, neither of them having the energy to stand now that the Adrenaline was wearing off.

"Poppy! Sam!" Poppy heard them scream their names.

"There's a burned one in the school!" Sam yelled out in pain, his wound was much worse than Poppy's. He had at least three, very deep scratches across his side. Poppy had only two scratches across her thigh but it was enough to make her feel like shit.

Minutes went by and no sign of help came. Terra had done all she could but it wasn't enough without the Zanbaq. Musa was knelt over Sam, who had a pillow under his head whilst he sweated and panted heavily.

Poppy was lying next to him with her own pillow under her whilst Stella brushed hair away from her face which was starting to have a slight shine. Poppy grinned painfully at Stella, "I knew you liked me, frosty."

Stella glanced at the others as the two got worse and grinned slightly back at the girl who was starting to mimic her brothers breathing patterns, "I never hated you, hippie." Poppy smiled clenching her teeth, so glad they could be friends. A tear slipped from her eye as the pain got worse.

Aisha was knelt between them, constantly getting tissues and towels for the injuries. The blood had slowed down but the wound was black; they'd both been infected.

"They'll get erratic without Zanbaq." Terra stood up and walked furiously to the door, "We need to get out." Stella glanced at Poppy and brushing away another tear that fell from her eyes, she stood up and walked alongside Terra to the door, they would break it down if they had to.

Before they got too close it banged. Someone was trying to get in. It banged again at a haunting rhythm. Aisha moved next to Poppy now so she wouldn't be alone since Sam had Musa. The door kept on banging and Terra had never been so thankful that she stuffed the room with plants. Stella copied her actions, both with blood soaked hands and stood ready.

The door kept on thrashing until it broke of the middle hinge which was what sealed it together. Sky and Bloom burst through the door both slightly out of breath. The harsh breathing of Poppy and Sam could be heard but Sky hadn't realised that Poppy, his Poppy, had been attacked.

"Hi." Sky looked to Stella shocked and awkward.

"Hey." She awkwardly stated back, Poppy had told her about Sky and her, and although it hurt her she could see they were made for each other. Probably one of the reasons why they never got along last year, Stella was too scared that Sky would cheat on her with Poppy. She should have trusted her boyfriend however, and maybe her and Poppy could've been friends sooner.

"We have to get help." Terra moved out of their view and both saw the two sweating and bleeding siblings.

"Poppy!" Sky called out immediately going to her side. He took her hand in his and didn't care about the blood that it was covered with, only that her eyes remained open as she panted. She smiled lightly still in pain when she saw him and it broke his heart to see her so fragile.

"Prince Charming," she breathed out pulling her hand out of his and brushing it along his cheekbone, him leaning into her hand, "here to save me?"

Sky nodded furiously as tears pooled his eyes, "Always." he kissed her forehead and her eyes fluttered shut momentarily savouring the feeling. Her breathing came out in short shallow breaths as her leg wound continued to get worse.

"They said there were burned ones In the school!" Terra called out as Sam only seemed to get worse. Bloom glanced around confused at how this had all happened, it had escalated so quickly and she didn't know what to do anymore.

"We need to get them to the courtyard. They're barricading it off." Sky spoke firmly, "Stella, Aisha you two take Poppy, I'll carry Sam." The girls nodded knowing that none of them were strong enough to carry Sam. Aisha and Stella gently lifted her arms and hauled them around each of their shoulders. "We'll be safe there."

People whispered as they saw them coming. They moved down the stairs and Terra shouted out to her father, "Dad!"

The people cleared way as the two were practically dragged into the room. Two wooden tables next to each other were immediately cleared as the two teenagers were laid down onto the surfaces. Poppy felt herself whimper in pain as Sam grew more erratic.

Poppy was scared now. She didn't want to die.

"Sam! Poppy!" Their father called looking in-between them, "I need Zanbaq, now!" He shouted at the people who were making it as quick as they could. The father of three cut his daughters jeans and made the injured leg into shorts as the pant leg got pulled away. It looked horrid, two deep scratches covered in blood. He next moved onto his son and rolled up his shirt to see a wound far worse than Poppys with horrible gashes on his side, continuously leaving fluid. Sam kept on screaming out in pain whilst Poppy tried to stay quiet other than her laboured breaths. "There's so much blood. Why didn't you bring them immediately?"

"'Cause we were locked in our room, Dad. Remember?" Terra said tearfully to their father whose entire face dropped. He focused back on Sam as another teacher stopped the bleeding on Poppy.

"You're gonna be okay, Cinderella," Sky whispered to the girl, he hadn't left her side since she had been placed on the table. She looked up at him weakly and gripped his hand, "I promise, you hear me?" Poppy nodded and a single tear slipped out of her eyes as she felt him kiss her forehead.

"Poppy!" The whole courtyard heard a distressed voice call.

Oliver.

People cleared a path for him as he ran away from welding the doors shut. He had been asked to by the headmistress and couldn't exactly say no, but as soon as he heard someone whisper about Poppy being the one of the people attacked, he felt like he couldn't breathe. He forced his panic attack down and bent down by her side as Sky stepped back a little but Poppy didn't let him go too far as she wouldn't let go of his hand.

It was so odd for people to see them like this. Oliver and Poppy, Poppy and Oliver, the school's troublemaking duo, never too far from chaos. And here one of them lay bleeding and the other more afraid than ever.

"Oli." She panted out as more tears came to her eyes. Poppy hated crying, absolutely despised it but it seemed for the last hour this was a process in which her tear ducts had full control. Her eyes watered as Oli leant over her.

"Pops, what the fuck? We said we'd kick their asses not let them scar up our legs." Poppy gasped slightly as a teacher applied Zanbaq oil to her cut and felt so much pain. She cried out at the same time Sam did, their screams doing nothing to help the morale of the students.

Poppy couldn't find the energy to talk anymore and Oliver understood as he wiped the sweat from her brow. They would always understand each other.

"As I'm sure you're aware, Burned Ones have infiltrated the Barrier and the school. For some reason, the magical energy wells which power everything at the school have failed. I managed to speak with Queen Luna before they did. She understands the gravity of what's happening here, and the Solarian troops are on their way. We're barricading all entrances to the courtyard. We're safe for now... but we must prepare for the reality that the Burned Ones may infiltrate the space before they arrive. This is what we've been training for. Be cautious, but be brave. Let magic guide you, and let's show them what it means to be Alfeans. Prepare the barricade."
