TRIBUS

"Anyone gotta game plan?"

"I thought you were the one that came up with all of that!"

"No, actually."

"You kinda are."

"Shut up, Simone! Kaz, a little help?" He spread his hands helplessly, not quite able to keep the smirk off his face. "God, you all are so useless."

"How about we all just go around in pairs and see if we can find Dave and Ramsey?"

"If I know them at all, they won't be within a 10-mile radius of each other."

"Yeah, it's that or they'll be at each other's throats with machetes." Andy nodded.

"Okay. I'll take Lacie to go find Ramsey, Simone and Kaz, you two go find Dave. Consider it a little bonding trip. If you're both gonna be hanging out with me, you're gonna have to get used to each other."

"See, I told you!" Andy glared at Lacie. She looked down, a small giggle escaping from her lips. "Whatever. Let's just go."

So Andy and Lacie went one way, while Simone and Kaz went another.

Kaz studied Simone out of his peripherals. He'd seen her around before, hanging around Andy and all, but he hadn't really spoken to her before.

What an awkward situation.

"So... hey there."

"Hi."

"Did you, uh, did you know that a silence takes approximately four seconds to become awkward?" Kaz looked over at Simone with one raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, actually, I did," he said, letting sarcasm drench his tone. Simone reddened.

"Oh." More prolonged quietness.

"Dammit, Ramsey, pick up your phone, you thick-skulled retard!"

"Don't call people retards."

"Don't tell me what I can and can't say," Kaz snapped. Simone stopped walking and faced him, placing her hands firmly on her hips.

"Maybe if you would actually listen and attempt to communicate then you might understand that I wasn't." Kaz stepped forward.

"Oh, well I'm sorry. Excuse my inept social skills, because that's totally something I can control," he snarled, his tone turning ice cold. He whirled on her and began to walk, taking up a faster pace. "If you aren't going to be of any use, then leave. You're really distracting me, you know."

"It's rude people like you that keep the world from healing itself."

Kaz snorted. "Rude? No. I'm just real, honey."

"I beg to differ!" Kaz stopped in his tracks and faced Simone with an I-can't-believe-she's-so-ignorant look on his face and his arms crossed.

"Really? Please, explain."

"The world is really a nice place, with so many good things in it, but then there are people like you, who refuse to see the good!"

"What 'good' are you seeing? All there is, if you would just look, is people who would eat you alive, people who would do anything for themselves, people who will snatch you off the street before you had the chance to make a sound! It's kill or be killed out there, sweetheart, and I don't think you're ready for that. In fact, I know it."

This time, he left her in the dust for good.

Kaz knew she was a good person, but he just couldn't see why Andy was friends with her, a sweet, innocent little girl. He knew Andy; he knew her outlook was the same as his, and that she couldn't stand people who thought the world was a good place.

"C'mon, dammit, pick up your phone!" Finally, a few minutes later, he called back.

"RAMSEY, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU, YA DINGUS?!"

"Woah, chill out. I'm downtown, I walked here with some of the team."

"Well, ditch them. I got shit to give you."

"What kind?"

"You'll see when you get here, won't you?"

"Where is here?"

"At the school."

"Aw man, why the hell do I gotta-" Kaz rolled his eyes and hung up.

that one gay dude:

the devil:

Kaz went back to the parking lot, ignoring Simone, even though he already felt bad about fighting with her.

"Sup hoes."

"Hey there bud." Andy propped her elbow on his shoulder.

"Um hello?"

"Oh. Yeah, hi Lacie." Kaz grinned teasingly. Lacie pouted. Simone raced up behind them and squealed, throwing herself at Dave. The boy chuckled, hugging her back.

"Ohmygod after the explosion I thought you were dead, I was so worried about you!"

"Mona, I'm fine." She backed away a few steps and turned to Andy.

"Ramsey should be here any minute."

"Yep."

So they all waited in uncomfortable silence until Ramsey pulled up in a small grey car.

"Hey guys!"

"Heck, it's Ramsey! Lemme hide behind you," Lacie whispered, ducking behind Andy. Andy rolled her eyes with a smile.

"Hey Mona," Ramsey beamed. He wrapped his long arms around Simone, who returned the gesture eagerly.

"It's good to know you're okay."

"You too." He pulled away and turned to Kaz, messing his hair with a wild grin.

"What's up, little dude?"

"I'm not little, you're just big!"

"Whatever you say, bro."

"Ew, don't 'bro' me, that's disgusting." Ramsey chuckled and clapped him on the back. Dave caught his gaze and glared, his lip curling. Ramsey narrowed his eyes back, turning and holding his hand out to Andy. She smirked and shook it, chanting in her head; hook finger, hook pinkie, top, bottom, side, side, grab, pull, bump, shoulder, hip, foot, push, bird. They laughed as the others raised their eyebrows. Dave clenched his jaw, pulsing with annoyance. Kaz set a hand on his arm, talking quietly in his ear.

"Okay everyone, now that we've all found everybody, what the hell are we gonna do?"

"Well, I'm planning on killing a few people," Dave hissed, his eyes locked on Ramsey. Andy moved in front of him, her stare burning with a fire of her own.

"If you dared to even touch him, I'd slit your throat before you could say 'wait'," she snarled.

"Andy, stop! Calm down, before someone gets hurt," Lacie said desperately, stepping forward, hoping to stop the fight before it could begin. Andy's gaze softened as it turned to her.

"Alright, Little Flower," she murmured, moving out of the way. Ramsey smiled at her.

"Hey, thanks for that. Even though you don't need to protect me." Andy snorted and rolled her eyes.

"Admit it, you need my skill."

"Whatever, Ms. Oversized-Ego."

"You can't say a thing, Hunt."

"I say we split up," Simone suggested, glancing nervously between Dave and Ramsey; their tension was so thick, you could cut it with a knife.

"Good idea," Kaz said. "I'll take Dave with me. See you guys later." Before Dave could say anything to object or agree, Kaz had a firm grip around his wrist and was dragging him away. That left Lacie, Simone, Andy, and Ramsey.

"Well, whoever wants to come with me, I'm going to see if there are any assholes left in the school."

"In what's left of the school."

"Sure." The other three exchanged glances.

"I don't wanna kill people!" Lacie squeaked. She peered over at Ramsey anxiously, but averted her gaze as soon as he looked her way.

"Neither do I."

"That's... kind of a problem."

"We could split up in two groups," Kaz suggested. Andy fervently shook her head.

"No."

"Why not?" Andy coughed, flushing, as everyone turned to her. "Because."

"Okay, fine. We'll all go into the school, and if anyone tries to hurt us, Kaz and I will take care of them."

Lacie cleared her throat timidly. "Can we actually go check out a few more stores?"

"Sure, Little Flower." Andy smiled warmly and twirled a finger around a piece of Lacie's hair, tugging it gently and winking. Lacie shivered and followed Andy to the truck.

"Why does she call Lacie Little Flower?" Ramsey whispered to Kaz, watching the pair go.

"I don't know. I think it's adorable. What? Am I not allowed to ship them?"

"No. No, you're not."

"Well then fuck you."

"Woah, harsh."

"Sorry. Love you, no homo."

"You are though."

"Yeah, well you don't count." Andy turned to face the rest of the group.

"I just remembered, I barely have enough room. I don't think you guys really wanna be squished in there, as awesome as my truck is. Hunt, you wanna drive separate with Kazzy?"

"Sure."

Andy hopped in with Lacie while Kaz followed Ramsey. He stretched out in the passenger seat, adjusting the angle and rolling down his window, turning up the radio until the base just about burst.

"RAMSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!" someone screamed. Ramsey winced.

"Oh shoot, a rat," Kaz whispered with a giggle.
