HEADSTRONG, BLOODTHIRSTY, AND BOLD are three ways to describe daena. sly, fiery, and ambitious are another three ways to label her. all of it is technically true but that is not all there is to her. daena is headstrong and boldβan initiator. she likes to talk and she likes to control everything within her power. she's bloodthirsty, too, although not in the sense you might be thinking. daena does not crave the kill but rather the reason for it. when daena kills or when she witnesses one, she only goes through with it when she sees it justified. so to speak, daena is a woman of unorthodox justice. in addition, daena is comfortable with violence but not prone to it. she's perfectly capable of holding herself back. honestly, she wouldn't punch anyone unless she thought it fit. daena is not as impulsive as people make her out to be. truthfully, she's more of a calculated thinker, and when it comes to intentional death, daena likes to plot it and think it over for a while. she's not about to make a mistake when it comes to murder, but of course, not every murder has to be pre-meditated.
next, daena is headstrong and bold. she's strongly opinionated and she won't let others influence her decision-making. being an independent person, she absolutely refuses to let anyone taint her views on things since daena would rather make her own judgments. but despite being headstrong, daena is not an impulsive nor open person. naturally, daena is secretive. though she has many vocal opinions, daena opens up to very few individuals. to people she doesn't trust, daena speaks but rarely addresses anything about herself unless it's shallow. it's easy enough for outsiders to assume that daena is impulsive but there's a method to her. as mentioned before, daena's a thinker and a plotter with good impulse control.
thirdly, daena's an ambitious, political person and the type who at least attempts to do something when she says she will do it, but of course, you can't succeed in everything. and despite how ambitious daena is, she's also a realist who knows what she can and cannot do. however, daena does try things she's aware she hasn't been able to do before, but hey, you'll never improve if you don't try. so, yes, daena's a very: if at first you don't succeed, try again kind of person. in this sense, daena can be pushy and demanding but that's because she expects more of everyone because she wants her companions to be at their best and no one ever got anywhere without encouragement from either peers or themself. of course, daena is not a gentle motivator. she's brazen in her ways a lot of the times and it shows through quite often.
in addition, daena is seen as a bit of a cold or heartless person depending on what lens you view her through. she's prideful, bordering on arrogant, and she rarely displays affection in public. if anything, daena comes off as caring about little more than herself and that's not the case. though she can be vicious and cruel, sarcastic and snarky, and sometimes cold and callous, daena is a protective person. as a protector, daena wants to protect the few people she genuinely cares for but she's fully aware they can defend themselves so she generally takes the backseat until she feels the need to step in. so, daena likes to think she's more partner than parentβshe's not hovering, but instead, merely watching from a distance. and when it comes to those she likes, daena occasionally likes to tease or flirt although she's hardly ever serious about anything. she can be playful from time to time but her version of playful or fun is different from some others' definitions, just saying.
now, when it comes to people she doesn't know or people she doesn't like, daena truly is more on the callous side. she's an initiator personality and will talk to just about anyone but that doesn't mean she's kind when she speaks. in general, daena is an unforgiving person who doesn't like to play nice or fair. no one ever got anywhere being fair, did they? though she isn't one for cowardly ways, daena is not above pulling manipulative tricks from time to time. no, she's much to ambitious to play the honorable game. and though she does hold her tongue in the elyrian court more often than she would prefer, daena refuses to not allow her distaste for certain people to go unnoticed. so, when she hates someone, she openly hates them unless they're in a position she wants to get close to. however, i don't recommend getting on daena's bad side regardless of who you are considering she's not above killing someone. like i said, she's comfortable with violence and death, and honestly, she wouldn't be very bothered if one of her wolves mauled someone, after all, it'll just be another dead body and nothing more.

the witch hunts β she thinks it's stupid. what's the point of hunting down and killing people who you could use to your advantage? of course, daena's never going to understand the stupidity of the elyrian government.
sexism β she doesn't understand it. it doesn't exist where she lives so the fact that it can exist in elyria when her kingdom proves that there's no proof of women being any less than men never ceases to confuse her. but hey, no one can say anything to her because at the end of the day, she's already had military training and plenty in her body count.
homophobia β because daena lives in khalidi, this isn't an issue for her but being in elyria makes it one. it annoys her half to death but at the end of the day, she's got all the power so if you say anything, she can easily just, you know, arrange for your death. it's not actually difficult.
elyria β this is for fun because daena's got opinions. she basically thinks elyrians are actually the dirt of the continent because of how stupid they are but we all know she loves power so she's not going to say that to their faces. but y'all already know she's about to shove a homophobe or two over a balcony or she'll just sick her wolves on them. either works.

DAENA WAS RAISED AS A proper khalidan princess. daena started learning to fight when she was a little girl, probably before she should've, but warcraft had always intrigued her considering it was so prevalent in her culture. being the third child of her parents, it wasn't assumed that daena would ever take the throne unless something unfortunate should befall her two older siblings. of course, she never harbored any ill will towards the two even if she would prefer to be the firstborn. however, daena was still the first daughter of the reigning monarchs and that was something. if she couldn't be the first child then at least she could be the first daughter.
but as a khalidan princess, expectations were set higher for her than the standard womanβand those standards were already high enough. growing up, daena was always closest with her brother closest to her in age. she'd never been close to her parents' firstborn, though.
however, as a young girl, daena began her military training as customary for any royal. throughout the years, daena became skilled with the sword, the bow, the crossbow, and throwing daggers. ever since she was a little girl, daena has always preferred the sword to any of the other weapons she's trained with although the crossbow and daggers came as a close second. the recurve bow was just never her thing, though, but she learned it as she was supposed to. however, military and combat was always where daena excelled when compared to her politics. though she never craved blood and death, daena was a dutiful, loyal girl and was always willing to go the full distance if need be. being a military prodigy, daena was quick to move among ranks and trainers but that never earned her her father's attention (which was only spent on his first child and his whores β oops). of course, daena didn't care because she wasn't about chasing the affection of others but it seemed her brother was different from her in that regard.
later, when daena was fifteen, it was determined that she was strong enough and old enough to perform executions. as standard for military training, daena was no exception. and though daena didn't exactly look forward to it, she found it difficult to empathize with the first person she'd killed after she'd learned why he was to die. even though daena was never close to most of her family, she didn't condone the murder of one's whole family. the first person she'd executedβa wealthy man by the name of trystan larkeβhad killed his parents and his siblings for some unknown reason. so, when the time came to lift the axe, daena didn't have any issues. it went the same way with the thirty-six she performed afterwards.
however, it was also when she was fifteen that daena's father died. he'd died in his sleep and daena pretended to grieve yet the only thing she grieved was the man he could've been because in daena's mind, her father had always weak. being the physical embodiment of khalidan culture, daena couldn't respect anyone who didn't even have the guts to cut down those they condemned with their own sword. the same went for her brother, too. though he performed executions, sometimes daena did the work as well as other executioners. of course, she understood he couldn't execute everyone on his own but he could've done more than he actually did. so, once her father had died, daena had nothing to truly grieve although sometimes she misses his potential as a father in brief, vulnerable moments. after his death, daena would sometimes make speculations about his death. had some vengeful whore poisoned him or had he just died on his own? either way, daena didn't really care.
a year later, when daena was sixteen, she and her siblings found abandoned wolf pups and naturally brought them in as their own. against her predictions, daena managed to grow attached to the animals and, having spent a surplus of time with them, they grew used to her and never did her much harm. of course, as pups their playful bites could hurt but there were never any serious issues. after a year, daena eventually attempted to take them huntingβbut with her horse this time. it was a risky move but her bond with her wolves appeared to be strong enough. though it was a little tedious at first, there came a time where there were no worries during hunts that her wolves might turn against her because by then the bond was completely solidified. and due to her appreciation for wildlife, daena lets her wolves out for the majority of days so that they may hunt and play on their own. of course, they always come back but sometimes she worries about them regardless. however, now that she's traveling to elyria to court the prince, she'll have to be stricter about their schedule. of course, they'll hunt for their own food most of the time except for when there isn't an ability to.

her two wolves. one, a male
called rhaegon and a female
called vaera. the male is a
black wolf and the female is
a white wolf. both are a couple
of years old.
in addition, she has a horse
she rides when hunting or
traveling. it took a deal of
training to be able to ride a
horse while out hunting when
she brought her wolves along
but eventually she decided to
test it out and luckily it went
just fine. her horse is a mare
named galatea.
from left to right,
rhaegon, galatea, vaera.

β’ seven is an apparently symbolic number in this roleplay. daena has executed thirty-seven people by her own hand as of late but has sentenced only twelve of them to die.
β’ daena likes to go hunting with her horse and her wolves from time to time.
β’ daena prefers her brother elias to everyone else in their family. they just get along better.
β’ daena has never really been bothered by death and that's really because no one she's been close to has died. the only time she really grieved was when her mother died but she was so young that she hardly remembers her anymore. when her father died, daena couldn't bring herself to care because their relationship had always been distant.
β’ daena is a pretty desensitized person. she literally isn't bothered by blood and gore or any of that stuff.
β’ she's going to get on some nerves but you can't do anything about it because she's probably more powerful than you (;
β’ she hates all of the elyrian royals except manon but she still doesn't care for her either. manon's just more tolerable because she somewhat knows her.
β’ if anything happens to her wolves or her horse, daena will literally kill everyone in the roleplay. lowkey not a joke tbh.
