yesterday, on one of the early days of spring, a queen lost her head and another queen was crowned. during the early hours of morning, queen zarya agnaris was executed, her final words hateful and treasonous, but not even an hour later, the king wed celine everlin. however, upon being crowned, the new queen stood and the crown fell—something that has not happened in hundreds of years and has since been seen as a symbol of chaos and failure.

regardless, there's another thing that happened that's potentially of significance. silas—better known as kit—was confronted by a woman known as lilith winters. how is it that she knows about the murder plot and silas's name? what about her knowledge of anastasiya rayne's abilities?

❚  THE PALACE OF IVAIRIS, ELYRIA.
with the khalidans and the conquered foreign royals having finally arrived in the capitol city of ivairis, a ball is to be hosted in honor of their presence. of course, there's nothing normal about this ball; khalidans and royals from conquered kingdoms aren't anything ordinary in the elyrian kingdom. however, the king has a reason for gathering everyone here and it is to announce the arrival of royals, celebrate his "death-marked" marriage, and to make his proposition for the foreign royals.

and though the khalidans are here of their own accord, the foreigners are in for a rude awakening. stefan is a man who likes to play with his prey before he kills it—or better yet, has it killed—so you can expect him to make things more difficult than they need to be. haven't you ever wondered why he hasn't had all the other royal families killed? he's been planning this for months, perhaps years.

however, the announcement of stefan's plot won't be the only thing out of the ordinary tonight. for instance, the khalidans came here of their own accord but they're not quite being honest about their intentions, are they? even the mistress herself wasn't aware of the king's plan to set up this game with the foreign royals before tonight. the assassins' plans, too, will need to be altered now that the foreign royals may be posing new complications. and what of lilith winters? well, she has her purpose but it's not her place to be here tonight. she said she wasn't leaving for a reason, didn't she?

AUTHOR'S NOTE.
i'll make this brief and go over some plot points we need to meet this chapter. first of all, there will be a brief main chain for stefan to give a speech regarding the khalidans and the foreign royals but everything after will be smaller chains and individual chains. this will be the start of the foreign royals plot and as you are aware, lilith winters is a mysterious character that showed up last chapter. she will not be the only one to make an appearance so be aware that more will show up from time to time. these characters have their purpose here and that is for you all to figure out on your own. if you believe you've figured some things out, pm me. several people have begun to solve this part of the plot. i will select some characters to interact with them and like lilith, they are all technically dangerous though you don't need to anticipate them killing your characters.

anyways, when you want to create a small or individual chain with someone, tag them in a comment and start your chain that way or you can create an open discussion chain and then start a chain after discussing. in addition, you can tag someone or check up on someone if they haven't replied for 24 or more hours. lastly, keep in mind that chapter one will be open for three more days before closing. that's all!
